He always says xenos bad because "archived encounters show" and "statistical probability of positive outcome of cooperation". Basically 13/52 in wh40k. So yes, massively based.

That makes no sense. He should kill her only in the most dogmatic ending, which is exactly the reject Amanat and eschaton ending.

                Anonymous

In the most dogmatic ending he recognizes that that he was committing Heresy against the Omnissiah by being the primary judge of all of technology, so he allows the admech to make decisions for him as he returns to doing his job as a dutiful cog.
His other endings either his ego fully takes over and he becomes a heretek, or he becomes a grand crusader for the omnissiah, but his emotions still get in the way (Ulfar and Yrliet) before he fricks off to bring the war to the dark mechanicus.

Game would have honestly been improved if Argenta didn't hold back.
Would have fit her 'arc' better too, if every encounter with a heretic/xenos had a real risk of her just blasting the fricker in the face with her bolter, and you could encourage (fury), complement her zeal (fire), or get upset (humility) about it, it would make having her along be more interesting, and then when humility leads to her failing her pilgrimage all of the iconocucks would cry.

          Sadly, you're right.

She'd just end up being a permanent benchwarmer.

For some playthroughs sure. But it would also allow them to give her proper faith powers and other shit that SoB do in the tabletop that's too ridiculous for this game apparently. Really make you have to decide do you want to be Dogmatic and go around with Dogmatic people who destroy the enemies of humanity, or do you want to lose out on using a Sister.
Likewise Heretical options should have come with a lot more boons to reflect chaos tempting you to its side.

          >wouldn't it be funny if a character was just permanently unusable.

Honestly Argenta is the best companion in this game, partly because her dialogs and personality are just right.

Yrliet is by far the most companion they put the most lore in the game and her character switches between uwu u my Elentach to >:( I kill you mon-keigh at a drop of a hat.

I agree. I would have enjoyed if you could recruit more hardcore dogmatic people or convert some of your followers to being more dogmatic.

Heretic does have some fun moments like letting you cast undetectable alugnment on yourself, turnting a forgefiend to your side and the whole of Euphrates II. I almost felt sorry for Kunrad when he watched his CSM buddy betray him for me after I slaughtered the spessyiffs.

              >Forgefiend
Two forgefiends, and yeah I greatly enjoyed my heretic run, but mechanically speaking I think it could have done more to get people to slip to chaos for boons.

            >This is why the first anon is right.
            You don't get it
Making me choose between one character or another is one thing, depending on the run. Frankly once it hits act IV she should leave.
Making it so there's a non zero chance she might just shoot any Xeno you interact with on first meeting without telling you beforehand (like with Idira) and instead making you react to it means she'd be unusable at all. Any iconoclastic or heretical run would require you to instantly boot her from the party or just leave her on the ship instead of having it happen organically.
You're just a moron, as expected of a dogmakek

              Anonymous

              As expected.

If an Iconoclast cannot stand the sight of a Sister of Battle, it tells me more about the Iconoclast than the Sister, who is in universe even more resistant to Chaos than Space Marines.

                Anonymous

                >who is in universe even more resistant to Chaos
No they aren't. Stop coating your armor in sister blood Kaldor you fricking idiot.
And this isn't about lore, this is entirely a game dev issue. What you're suggesting is moronic.
What COULD be done alternatively is have her attempt to shoot any xeno, mutant (this would have to include Cassia by the way, regardless of her status as sanctioned) or heretic. If you don't let her, it incrementally increases a flag that will at certain points lead to her finally losing it and attempting to shoot you.
That is a far better way to put in the mechanic/lore you want.
Even then, Argenta's not a particularly dogmatic person by sororitas standards. She cares too much. She actually suggests you save people instead of bombing the planet in Rykard Minoris for example.

                Yes, they are.
There have been lesser Sisters falling to Chaos than muhreen and Inquisitors.

And there's less stories about sisters than there are about marines or inquisitors
The "never fallen to Chaos" is a goddamn propaganda tool and the lore itself as acknowledged this at several points.
Heck the game tells you that's basically what it is. Argenta refuses to talk about it but acknowledges it happens.
Now fricking stop coating your armor in their blood idiot.

No the real fricking lore says sisters are harder to corrupt, and there's nothing to say otherwise.

There are some ways cases but they are individuals (Miriel Sabathiel or Iconoclast, yes a character named Iconoclast) but most others are due to brainwashing, forced mutation or even forced plagues.

The Sisters are protected by having faith in the Emprah.

                >Argenta refuses to talk about it but acknowledges it happens.
When she says Repentia, these sisters just do small stuff like fleeing from battles or suffering from fear, not corrupted. If they are corrupted, they will not repent.

                >the real fricking lore
Do point to it because nothing actually states that. And if you genuinely come at me with shit from the same idiots that thought the Grey Knights debacle which I've been referencing I will ignore it.
                >when she says Repentia
No, I'm talking about falling to Chaos. She has dialogue about it. She merely says she won't speak of it because they're stories not worth repeating. Which honestly I agree with. Stories with bad ends are shite.
                >There are some ways cases but they are individuals (Miriel Sabathiel or Iconoclast, yes a character named Iconoclast) but most others are due to brainwashing, forced mutation or even forced plagues.
Fun fact, the Iconoclast alignment should actually be called Benevolentia.
And yes, those are named examples, but there's unnamed ones too. Again, nothing states in lore they're more resistant to corrupt. Faith in the Emperor does absolutely jack fricking shit.

                >Again, nothing states in lore they're more resistant to corrupt
                yeah, there is:
                >Pure Faith (Talent)
                >Your faith in the God-Emperor of Mankind, His divine power and grace, is total and complete. This faith wraps around you and suffuses your soul, armouring you so the foul influences
and weapons of the heretic cannot bear to touch you. Pure Faith provides all of the following benefits:
                > • You are always immune to the effects of Daemonic Presence (including the negative modifiers to your Willpower).
                >• You may avoid taking a Fear Test, avoid acquiring Insanity Points and avoid gaining Corruption Points by spending a Fate Point. These safeguards remain in place for the
                duration of the encounter only.
                >• You may burn a Fate Point to resist the effects of any single Daemonic or psychic attack, effectively allowing you to emerge unscathed as if by a miracle.

Again doesn't even know the game he's discussing.
Argenta encourages you to take the ICONOCLASTIC option at Rykard Minoris dogmakek. She's also generally far kinder and gentler with orphans, and you can even get her to make peace with and be friendlier with idira.

Yes. Except in order to do this you have to take iconoclastic options and stop Argenta from being an idiot.
Which again, Argenta willingly does instead of seething like half this thread, because Argenta is dogmatic. She's not a dogmakek. She can be reasonable as situation dictates and is actually a good kind hearted person.
Dogmakeks are not the same as dogmatic.

                No you don't?
You just have to take the neutral option of "don't shoot the psyker who has a daemon trying to get into her brain even though in lore all sanctioned psykers are trained to kill themselves if this happens"
                It's a bit silly, but it's neutral.
Then the only other points you have to have them together are Commoragh where you stop Idira from chimping out, also neutral, and then Salis Prime where you don't get the Humility ending.

Other than the fact they're specifically recruited from only the most devoted and faithful of all children in the Schola Progenium and then still filter out most of them so only the most single minded fanatics remain. And faith is pretty much the only weapon that works against chaos corruption, sooooo you're wrong.
As side note, in DH Sororitas literally can't gain corruption points and instead just get insanity points (which also provided them with buffs).

DH is as valid to this discussion of overall lore as the RT game itself is to the discussion, but you don't seem to want tor realize or admit this.
Never mind ALL of this discussion, as fun as it is to shit on you dogmakeks, is completely and utterly irrelevant in the end.
Argenta herself wouldn't do what you want her to do, which is BLAM any xenos on sight. And if she did so without warning it would be absolutely abysmal game design. And since you brought up DH, that's what on a tabletop game would be considered murderhobo behavior, regardless of how you justify it.

You hang out with heretic and xeno, they get the bullets if the good Sister finds them too revolting, nothing weird about that.

Hell, she should shoot you and the Dark Eldar and you have to Persuation check her to calm her down like the Commissar, that should have been the mechanic.

                Anonymous

That's not the same as what the post that started this discussion stated.
This is absolutely moronic even for a normal sister to do in crpg. Never mind Argenta who is, and I've said it before but let me say it again, actually mostly a nice person. Aka iconoclastic.

The Ecclesiarchy, actively makes the Imperium worse at best, or outright fricking rebels and starts civil wars only a few orders less bad than the Horus heresy at worst. It's 100% the worst aspect and the biggest contributer to the shit the Imperium finds itself in. The ONLY GOOD THING to ever come out of it was the Sisters. That's actually literally it.

Jae is evidence that there should have been a fourth alignment
Like "freedom" or "unbound" or "profit" or something along those lines
Not heretic but willing to do whatever to get ahead short of heresy
Taking xenos into your crew, dealing with pirates, telling the inquisitor to go frick himself, things like that should all have been this fourth alignment

They did say the alignment system was entirely different in early builds where it was made to make it so it reflected your interests and fears to determine what options you have and what you're locked out of.

The "fourth" alignment is keeping all the alignments at rank 2 or lower

not really. there are oftenm several option for the same liagnment. For example on janus you can take the surviving rebel into custody to give him a fair trial, or you can execute him on the spot. both are dogmatic options. Or, you can execute him on the spot to give him cleaner death or let him go. Both are iconokek options. heretic options likewise range from - "lmao that sounds fun" to "look at how evil i am hon-hon-hon"

Argenta encourages you to take the ICONOCLASTIC option at Rykard Minoris dogmakek. She's also generally far kinder and gentler with orphans, and you can even get her to make peace with and be friendlier with idira.

Hence why I didn't bring it up, because it's shit for many reasons.
But it's been the case sisters fall to chaos. It's just they never acknowledge it. Precisely to keep it from happening.
I did saý that faith in the Emperor does nothing but that's not exactly correct. Rather it's that faith in of itself is a protection. It's the same reason the eldar's paths work. It's self discipline. Sisters are no less susceptible if put under extreme duress as any human with the same exact training and discipline as them, but they maintain the aura of uncorruptability because it ultimately does help. If you believe your status as a daughter of the Emperor, as his holy representative, gives you protection, then it gives you protection (so long as you don't take it too far into pride, which is why sisters strike a balance)

Especially if you're encouraging the fury flags in her personal quests while simultaniously you're consorting with the filthy Xenos woman (pic related)
At some point she has to either lose it, or alternatively there has to be a way to mellow her out. The thing is that, again, she's already extremely mellow by an sob's standards. I don't think people realize how fricking nice she is. If the game had more than one alignment for each companion hers would be dogma 3 and icono 2.

                Did she say this?
The only thing she says, and it's a battle dialogue so really shouldn't be taken as a character moment, is "pain cleanses the body"
Again look at her actions. She cares for orphans on a personal level. She asks you to rescue people instead of doing the correct act of exterminatus at Rykard. She's gentle and kind of the granddaughter of a pirate (sins are generational and any SoB will tell you that. Heck she herself acts a bit like that with you)
Even with Idira, she's brutal at first but she can potentially get on friendly terms with her.

The gamebreaking bugs are 100% fixed. Tons of talents are still bugged and broken, but the abilities and leveling system are so convoluted that you will rarely notice. The game's main flaw is that they literally did not finish it, and this can't/won't be fixed in a patch. Despite its glaring issues, the game is incredibly fun (when it works)

in the current patch?? i waited till the current patch to start chapter 4 for that very reason, and I'm most of the way through it with 0 issues. I haven't heard of anyone getting hardlocked or softlocked or even getting broken quest flags at any point in chapter 4.

            Anonymous

            >in the current patch??
yes. So it went like this: The first bug was immediately after ymeryss fight where the cutscene didn't play cmpletely, and after it was done she stood up with 1 hp and coudn't be killed for good even with kill all cheat. She simply resurrected after every kill She also stood close to the gate so every time I went to activate it she aggroed and the fight started all over again. Somehow I maanged to sneak to the gate and enter it to finish the chapter. But then as chapter 4 started the cutscenes on the birdge did not trigger, and as a result I didn't get any of the act4 quests, neither the main ones, nor side ones. And that's when i ended my run

Game also shits itself if you recruit Marzipan during the fight then decide to execute him along with Ulfar and Argenta, gets stuck in perma cutscene mode.
Flags and etudes tend to get messed up if you go to Footfall before QT.
Companion quests not spawning/progressing in Chapter 4.

It's technology. Dunno if it works on humans, but it's expensive so don't think they'd use it on humans. Unless they really want to torture you to death twice.

No frick off moron, the War in Heaven ended with every sides in hiding and the Eldar becomes the titular golden age.

Then they decide to murderfrick themselves to Slaneesh.

          Anonymous

War in heaven is what caused the sea of souls to become the warp. It's most definitely the source of all issues currently affecting the 40k universe
The birth of Slaanesh didn't help of course.

      Anonymous

      Yes, massively yes.

The 3 Chaos Gods were bad, Slaneesh was worse.

      Anonymous

About 25% "only", rest is because of the war in heaven. So necrons and old ones are the main culprits.

        Anonymous

Technically entities like Khorne, Nurgle and yes, Slaaneesh already existed in the Warp from the start as the first sapient being come into existence. Slaanesh have always exist in the Warp, the Eldar just ended up empowered this particular emotion of exceed, combine with their psychic power, give Slaanesh enough power to ascend to god hood. Same thing as the Great Horn Rat in Fantasy

          Anonymous

          You're confusing your lores.
The warp was before the war in heaven the sea of souls. It wasn't the same hellish place it is now. It was the war in heaven that turned it into that.
The chaos gods in 40k are also specifically born. Heck you used to have exact events that birthed each god into existence, but that was retconned fairly early I believe.

            Anonymous

Even when it was just the sea of Soul, emotion still have to go somewhere when living die. Yes, it was much more peaceful back then but warp entities like proto-Khorne still exist, they just hadn't become malice yet. There some theories that there used to exist many more emotion entities but eventually the big 4 just ended up consume most and made them into a part of themselves. That is why khorne is all about both violence and honor since he probably chow down entity for honor at some point. The "event" that cause them to come into existence is simply when they gain full sentient and the ripple effect of their "birth" cause events to happen in real space (Khorne "birth" cause the Mongol conquest)

              Anonymous

              >Khorne "birth" cause the Mongol conquest
thats some giga early warhammer lore and I never liked the incorporation of the 3 original chaos gods into medieval human history - it would be ok in fantasy, but for 30/40k it makes no sense

Argenta proposes something because she didn't know how bad shit is going to get.
        Heinrix proposes something else.

        Nobody objects to it.

But suddenly this means nuuuuu Argenta is Iconocuck, she would love to save da people even if damning millions.

          Anonymous

Let me spell this out, in one final attempt to be the rational one (burdens of iconochads)
The reason Heinrix AND ONLY Heinrix opposes your choice in that dialogue chain isn't about characterization. It's about gameplay. Someone who is making the choice and tries to pick that option is locking themselves out of the dogmatic option instantly. They might not even pick the dialogue that explains why they can't save people + blow up the planet. They might have fricking misclicked. So Heinrix opposing you is the equivalent of the companions asking if you REALLY want to kick them out. It's a double yes to a choice so you don't lock yourself out of shit.
Otherwise Abelard would also oppose trying to save people. Heck he'd oppose blowing up the planet since he's against wasting any time at all.

Should have served chaos better and ascended too. Losers lose, winners gain immortality.

Becoming a Rogue trader is a one in a trillion chance, you get to be on top of a reliable and known system. To join the chaos mosh pit and willingly choose to be a slave.

To which if this was real, at some point someone stronger and better then you, I.E. a fricking Chaos Marine, will waltz up, skull frick you, and take anything of worth. Such is the cycle of Chaos. The second your no longer useful, your gone.

Where as a Rogue Trader, you alone sit at the top, only having the most powerful of Inquisitors as your equals. As a heretic, hell your warrant of trade might as well be pissed on, it only has value in the Imperium, not the shithole known as the warp.

Choosing to go from a King answering to no one, to a literal fricking slave. What a joke.

You need to go for the notme route of her questline. I'mt not sure about her being killed though, maybe that happens if you let the rebels live, because I know there's another ending where she's just a figurehead and the one who runs her house is you because she has no idea how to do it

I let the rebels live in my first run too and she went back to her house and lead it to glory.
I didn't romance her, and encouraged her to be independent.
One thing I've noted is that I tried the same with my second run but once I got to Dargonus she was too meek to speak her grievances and wouldn't propose the whole 50 year contract thing. So not sure if it's already locked in for this run as well.

The flaws, if we discount the bugs, are mostly just the rushed nature of act's IV and V.
But even in act IV gameplay wise it's still amazing. Uralon might be a ballbusting and probably overtuned boss but Euphrates is prolly the best dungeon in the game. Or at least it's between that and Kiava Gamma in my view.

for anyone wonder what happens with muruan with dogmatic protection,he changes for the better and the rest of the eldar don't always meet humans with shoot first.
Yrliet becomes a warrior and hopes she never has to fight us,Nocturne meets up with us and warns that there is going to be trouble short after the dunkari attack(future DLC?)

If you romance her the endings are different
I romanced her but still got that ending which does indeed prove the romance was completely bugged and didn't trigger the flags properly lol.

Escorting her isn't sex, as long as you kiss the handkerchief you already did it right
you don't frick her until late act 4

        >Chaosgays will continue to claim it's just 2 more crusades
Honestly the nulore's shit but I just wanna see how far chaosissies get clown'd before there's a collective suicide.
Maybe the psychic gestalt of their impotent rage brings back WHF and reverses the ET.

During the recent war in Ultramar against Nurgle, Girlyman gets infected with super AIDS by Mortarion. Emps intervenes and supposedly Girlyman while powered by the Emp burns a shit ton of Nurgle's garden in the warp.
Some people are theorizing that's where Russ is and the entire thing is gonna help him escape along with isha.

              I know that
              >Some people are theorizing that's where Russ is and the entire thing is gonna help him escape along with isha.
oh, so that's just headcanon, alright then

                >oh, so that's just headcanon, alright then
The only piece of lore we know about what happened to Russ states that he's trying to find the tree of life in the warp. The only place that would have such a thing would be Nurgle's garden.
And it's not just headcanon. Primarchs are all coming back dude, it's inevitable at this point. And the one most likely to return next is either Russ or Sanguinus because both their legions are the ones with the most fans that'll buy up the minis in minutes like what happened with Lion.
If you combine both things, it's obvious Russ is next.

      Yes.
Best heretic playthrough is a psyker warrior because of a certain weapon you get near the end.

no. heretic route is arbitrary and tacked on.

I'm going insane. How are you guys managing your inventory in this game. The worst part is having 3 psykers, whos staffs are all valid and can't be replaced by better ones.
Also all those fricking accesories that look the same. I'm THIS close to just trying to roll with what my crew has equiped now, until I gameover and HAVE to think about equipment.

What's the setup for doing gigga damage as sanct pysker ? Looking to give it a whirl on a different save

      Anonymous

Giga damage is telepathy powers + talents + pyro talents if you don't want to use a staff.
If you do want to use a staff it's just Sanctic tier 0 power + Drusian staff using loads of Resolve stacking from Word of the Emperor + office/tactician buff.
