Bullshitting as in sitting there having fun talking about the development of Shogo while someone plays it. It's two hours but a fun listen/watch if you liked Shogo at all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcUeVG3FRZI&t=500s

as in paint the textures on paper sheets to later scan them, he didn't work on them digitally apparently, at least not all of them.

Those textures are still good AF for 1998.

I miss the times when big shot western devs would just make super anime as frick games

And when was that exactly? Because for the western devs ''anime'' has always been this kind of 'mysterious' area, and they never even dared to make a game with Japanese aesthetic.

There were a few western studios made up of weebs in the '90s. Shogo and Oni are the obvious ones, but you can find Akira references all over the place in '90s shooters.

This kind of full-throated, unapologetic ripoff/homage of Japanese culture by American developers used to be a lot more common (Oni also comes to mind) and for some reason has totally died off despite anime/Japanese culture being more popular in America than ever. At a time where they sell anime figures in Gamestop the average American developer approaches Japanese themes as a cringing reference at best and with outright hostility on average. Very strange state of affairs.

Because it's still a niche aesthetic in a timeline where being bland and inoffensive gets you piles of normiebucks. Also, weebs got picky, and they greatly prefer genuine Nippon-made media.

If you switch your weapon right between a mecha to on foot section, you can use that mecha weapon on foot.

    That is all

fun game. back then we glued a giant fan on my riva TNT and overclocked it to 120mhz, it could run the game at max settings at insane framerate.
