it's not stupid. i have no motivation for anything anymore. just a little push, bro. or at the very least tell me it's shit so i can be uncertain about something else.
At first I thought it was obscenely verbose. Like waving it in front of your face to show off levels of full of itself. Then I kept playing it. Now it's one of my favorite games. Top 20 at least.
Yes if you want an immersive game that feels like playing a rules-light tabletop RPG, with a proper story that treats like you a functioning adult with a variety of themes that will leave you thinking about it for a long time.
No if you don't want a game mostly centered around reading text/listening to narration. Or if you don't like stories with lots of real world political elements. Also if the main character always being wacky and goofy puts you off too much from enjoying the story. I tried to play the game as serious as possible because I was getting invested in world/characters, but even picking the most serious/least insane option is poked at and played as your character being almost comedically boring.
I overall loved it and it's one of my favorite games, but it is definitely not for everyone. Also Kim is the best deuteragonist in video games, and can make a good case for all of fiction.
This anon sums it up. If you do decide to play it, I'd just go ahead and play it and avoid any future threads until you finish it - just so you don't spoil it for yourself
This anon sums it up. If you do decide to play it, I'd just go ahead and play it and avoid any future threads until you finish it - just so you don't spoil it for yourself
for kim you have to pick specific dialogue options and then spean almost a full in-game day with your character thinking about it before you ask him and he says "yes. can we get back to the investigation please"
Yes, but you'd never know unless you built up certain skill points and then pry it out of him.
The joke is that you practically need a guide to unlock that dialogue path and then it doesn't matter and the game mocks you for spending all that time trying to find out.
I honestly believe that Kim would say yes just to get Harry to stop investigating since he is clearly obsessed by this topic right now and wont settle on no.
The three builds have the same stat distribution, but to different stats, so they're all fine in the sense that you won't miss anything major or have a shitty experience with one of them. If you decide to go custom, I wouldn't stray too terribly far from that distribution (5, 4, 2, 1). A fun thing to do is second playthrough polar opposite of the first. I did sensitive and then thinker
Spoken like someone who doesn't know the first fricking thing he's talking about but feels compelled to shitpost about it because it's all he has in life
lmaoooo the perfect post and everything I expect from a post in a DE shill thread. arrogance, name dropping some "intro to x" freshman course thinker you've never actually read, perfection. I can smell the kombucha and cloves from here.
in a world of two hour steam refunds, 1337x and stuff like gamepass, I don't understand why people on here don't just try stuff out for themselves first
is an hour of your time worth that fricking much
you don't even have to play a full two hours, just play like, 25 minutes and you get a pretty good impression of the game. This thread went up an hour ago and I bet OP is still checking it
Im mean only because I want you to play a game I like, sorry.
Don't get me wrong, its just frustrating when I see people only try stuff that their friends or people online say to try. I don't even care if you hate the game, Id just rest well knowing that you actually formed an opinion of it instead of listening to some idiot who pretended like he played the game
>should I cook a new food? >no what if I dont like it, time wasted >should I read a new book? >no what if I don't like it, time wasted >should I watch a new film? >no what if I don't like it, time wasted
Do you support communism?
Do you feel as if you were born in the wrong body gender-wise?
Do have a personality some would call 'pseudo-intellectual'?
If you replied yes to all or any of these then you might want to consider playing Disco Elysium! Its the game for complete wastes of space! Play it now!
I'm 10 hours in the game and I feel like I have already solved the case but the game keeps on going. What else am I supposed to do? Feels like I'm just conserving with the locals for fricks sake now.
Volition already has destroyed her but nothing else happened. I don't want to get a game over even though the case is in the bag. How much is the time limit?
Really? That's weird, I thought you have around a week for the case. So i guess the game will end when I trigger some shit and not when a timer runs out.
did they fix the bug where the vodka soup from the foreign chef gives you permanent buffs or do you just get 3 physical stats for free with the only downside that kim knows you're drinking
I really wish there was a game like Disco Elysium but without all the twitter politics bullshit. That shit weighed down an otherwise 10/10 game. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything, too. Focusing entirely on Henry, his struggles and his relationship with the city (and Kim) would've been more than enough.
>It has absolutely nothing to do with anything, too
wasn't that the entire point during the dream sequence with Dora, every thought you've internalized, any vision quest you've completed ends up amounting to nothing, where this extremely shallow political lens harry has been seeing everything through turns out to be both ultimately irrelevant and more importantly just a giant cope for her leaving
What's worse is that so much dialog is about politics, races, states and all of it is fictional. I don't care about politics in real life, less I care about completely made up shit. I can't even see any link to real life politics.
nothing in the game ever felt like twitter politics.
Politics are either the butt of a joke in the game or treated with a relative degree of seriousness based on the fictional world itself. The game does a good job of showing that every side has it's problems, and illustrating that in a perfect world some ideologies make sense but unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world.
It made for a nice meta commentary. Sure it's nice to be attached to the idea of communism but with the circumstances of human nature it would never work out.
You write like a troony. I liked the game but homosexuals like you who keep excusing its obvious left-wing slant make the community (and Ganker threads) insufferable
have you actually played the game though?
Unlike so many political video game drivel it doesn't try to champion a single ideal nor shove it in your fricking face >you write like a troony
what in the goddamn fricking hell does that even mean?
do you see fricking trannies in everything now you schizo?
>have you actually played the game though?
Yes I did and >it doesn't try to champion a single ideal nor shove it in your fricking face
This is a lie. The biggest lie about this game. Constantly pushed forward by the Discord troons who keep opening these threads and keeping up the /ksg/-tier forced discussion here.
It's a good game. But please stop lying. Just be honest: "It's a unique RPG with very good writing that just so happens to be pandering to communists, but you'll enjoy it if you ignore it"
le "making fun of all positions" is a lie when the game takes nothing more serious than playful jabs at its own preferred ideology while dripping spite at everything else.
>The game does a good job of showing that every side has it's problems
nice copywriting, but I've played the game and I know the only ""flaw"" they give the socialist politcial faction is that it got overpowered and now it's a shadow of its former self. Every other faction is more aggressively criticized, or outright irredeemable, like the "fascist" faction. Hell, just compare how each political alignment is described in game. The game isn't subtle about its bias
This. The game is literally schizo, which I guess is slightly on theme but it makes the narrative suffer. I also don't mind games with a ton of reading, I loved the Shadowrun games, but this is some midwit-tier verbosity.
Tuning out everything but anything relevant to the case and Harry's depression, I fricking adore this game and I'm happy to have all the political shit go right over my head because I'll never give a frick about political shit.
What's worse is that so much dialog is about politics, races, states and all of it is fictional. I don't care about politics in real life, less I care about completely made up shit. I can't even see any link to real life politics.

It's kinda funny to wish for a disco elysium "without politics" or to say you enjoyed the game besides the politics. You interacted with and considered the political themes of the game without realizing it. You just don't realize how fundamentally entwined some concepts are within our mundane, seemingly non political lives. Labor, ownership, alienation, money, law, justice, collective action, power, violence, diseases/deaths of despair, etc. You're imagining a distinction or separation that doesn't exist
Being a midwit who's trying is better than being a fricking moron who can't make simple connections between a piece of media and real life. If anything, brushing off these straightforward connections because they're beneath you and your big brain is the real midwit behavior. Sorry you removed all the big words from your vocabulary so you could look cool on Ganker
Yes, that's pretty much the point of the game. Focus on lifting up the people around you and you won't have to spend all day on twitter screeching about communists/facists to compensate for your irl impotence
I was psyched to finally play it and didn’t get very far, it’s pretty lame just like the shitty rich/bored audience for it. Leftist shit is just so far behind the curve and stuck there stagnant, can’t do it anymore. See people recap the funny moments and wince, can’t believe people are still like this. Bet I’ll try it again in 5 yrs and it blows my shit away.
I did one too, it was pretty fun. Gives the game a different feel when youre trying to actually recover. My first playthrough I was a centrist and that was the real mistake
its not even a game
there is no gameplay
there is no challenge
its just gobbledeeasiatic meaningless kooky dialog and you get points by sitting through 30 hours of it to pass other checks, which lets you sit through more kooky shitty dialog
the only actual game play in this "game" is picking up garbage and putting it in a plastic bag for a couple cents
not even joking
It's not even a point and click adventure.
There is nothing to figure out or use your head with. Everything you need is highlighted, nothing requires thought to unlock or use. You simply plow through overly verbose and zany dialog which gives you points, then you use the points on the highlighted objects to use them. Don't have enough points to unlock that thing or use that other thing? Just talk to someone else then and get points.
There is zero strategizing points, you can't fail.
There is literally no gameplay aside from picking up garbage. The garbage is not highlighted, so you actually have to interact with the environment to spot the garbage, then you click on the garbage and take it to the recycle bin to get 24 cents.
A sequel will definitely be made without the original creators, the question is will it be any good, or will it turn out that the original creators were just holding it back etc etc
>"Wow, it sucks that our country is objectively shitty and poor and that we're governed by foreign corporations" >OH I SEE, BY "CORPORATIONS" YOU MEAN "JEWS", RIGHT? AND YOU MUST HATE FOREIGNERS TOO >"What? No I mean we should go back to being an independent nation where we can-" >"BACK"? YOU WANT TO GO BACK??? BACK TO WHEN WOMEN WERE BAREFOOT AND PREGNANT IN THE KITCHEN YOU MEAN, YOU FRICKING BIGOT >"No, that's not what I mean." >HEH, SURE IT ISN'T >You have unlocked the Fascism trait
stupid question anon
it's not stupid. i have no motivation for anything anymore. just a little push, bro. or at the very least tell me it's shit so i can be uncertain about something else.
thank you so much
quit being uncertain
i try
Sure, why not
Jojo reference?

Good post.
I'm considering playing the game. Which class should I pick? Thinker, Sensitive, and Physical? Does it even make a difference at all?
custom class always
Thinker or Sensitive
The three builds have the same stat distribution, but to different stats, so they're all fine in the sense that you won't miss anything major or have a shitty experience with one of them. If you decide to go custom, I wouldn't stray too terribly far from that distribution (5, 4, 2, 1). A fun thing to do is second playthrough polar opposite of the first. The best playthrough is the schizo build where you cheat every stat to max. It will drive you insane
Play whatever is closest to yourself.
No. it will brainwash you into being a commie.
Yes disregard the homosexual above
>play
The devs got booted off their platform and have to shill it here. Tells you everything you need to know about their game.
Spoken like someone who doesn't know the first fricking thing he's talking about but feels compelled to shitpost about it because it's all he has in life
Freud would be proud. Now off you go, your mother won't court herself.
lmaoooo the perfect post and everything I expect from a post in a DE shill thread. arrogance, name dropping some "intro to x" freshman course thinker you've never actually read, perfection. I can smell the kombucha and cloves from here.

If you're down to read a book then I highly recommend it.
troony communist game.
in a world of two hour steam refunds, 1337x and stuff like gamepass, I don't understand why people on here don't just try stuff out for themselves first
Time is important to not waste
is an hour of your time worth that fricking much

Why don't they just move to /vg/?
They're not even discussing the game anymore. They're literally on the same level as /ksg/
Getting desperate now aren't you
I'm 10 hours in the game and I feel like I have already solved the case but the game keeps on going. What else am I supposed to do? Feels like I'm just conserving with the locals for fricks sake now.
Probably talk to the suspect.
Volition already has destroyed her but nothing else happened. I don't want to get a game over even though the case is in the bag. How much is the time limit?
There's no true time limit. The only time limits are on some side content because certain things are only available on the first/second days
Really? That's weird, I thought you have around a week for the case. So i guess the game will end when I trigger some shit and not when a timer runs out.
sure, just don't try to play a right wing character. You'll soft lock yourself
If you like lotsa dialogue then yes.
did they fix the bug where the vodka soup from the foreign chef gives you permanent buffs or do you just get 3 physical stats for free with the only downside that kim knows you're drinking
It's fun.
wacky and unexpected porn talk

Yes, I know the game loves its navelgazing and talks about this, but the fact still remains that a solid 15% of dialogue in the game is about politics
Bros I shed lots of manly tears in that sequence. How the frick did the game do that shit. Pulling this shit on me outta nowhere
What's worse is that so much dialog is about politics, races, states and all of it is fictional. I don't care about politics in real life, less I care about completely made up shit. I can't even see any link to real life politics.

Don't know about the troony part but your posts are pure reddit.
what does that even mean
You don't need to try this hard to sell your game dude. Nobody cares what the writing in other games is. Yours is bad enough.
do you guys just call random things 'troony' and 'reddit' in hopes of fitting in

I did a sober run as my first playthrough
Did I frick up?
I did one too, it was pretty fun. Gives the game a different feel when youre trying to actually recover. My first playthrough I was a centrist and that was the real mistake
shame there will never be another game like it
the way it plays is so unique and could make a cool system for all kinds of stories
worth a pirate rather than paying for it, as long as you overlook the communist pandering its still a great experience
