Why are nintendo fans always so fricking salty about other games and systems. Every sperg you see tripping over something that isn’t on nintendo is almost guaranteed to be a tendie, you can feel it. They’re the worst part of the board.

will only work in a non linear game, all you need is a save editor or make like a cutscene gallery with saves like Half Life

Not really. Dying Light 2 already has a feature where you can revert back in time to redo choices.

I dont get it? Cant you just save game on consoles? Or replay particular level which was doom1 functionality?

      Anonymous

Yes, the patent will be invalidated the first time Snoy tries to use it against anyone that can afford a decent patent attorney. That's why their first targets will be small indie companies who already struggle with keeping the lights on, so they either settle (read: get bought out by snoy) or try to go to court with some shitbagger attorney who is also struggling to keep their lights on (to establish favorable precedent to bully more small-timers). The long game isn't claiming save states as a novel innovation; the long game is harvesting as many developers and indie companies as possible.

        Anonymous

....yeah, that sounds about right. Make a patent that's impossible to hold against anyone big or competent enough, but weaponize it against the small guys so Snoy can add them to their collection of developers.

Why do you think the OP calls it save state moron? What you are saying and the patent are not the same thing. The patent is about replaying a specific section not the whole level or from a save point but a very specific part like if it was using a save state.

I'll never understand why games feel the need to make stuff like this part of gameplay, when they could make it part of the cutscene so that A. I don't have to hold up the whole time and B. I can skip it on replays.

RE4R randomly having one of these at the end of the game when it's even more streamlined than the original in this way was so weird to me.

          >now there's no fricking gameplay
Look, I agree that overly obtrusive walk-and-talk sections are a problem, but pretending nu-GOW has no gameplay is moronic. I prefer the greater verticality and larger fights of the older games, but the gameplay in the reboot entries is still very good.

I hate the American IP system. You shouldn't be able to acquire a government monopoly on any IP for longer than 10 years and when you enforce it, attack it or defend it, the process should be so optimized that you both do not need and also can not have more than a single minimum wage lawyer.

Because initially they WERE cutscenes, but obviously that's shit because the developers for this slop do not understand pacing or if they do understand it, then they exploit it to make their lame autopilot gameplay seem more engaging. Games existed that let you walk around during talky sections and it gave the player some modicum of control, even if that control was just fricking around and trying to push people off ledges. Games started developing that concept further, except since they are fricking moronic they can't comprehend the idea of the player doing something they don't want them to do, so they have the player carry something or otherwise engage in non-gameplay.
