The card game is rigged. Your winning then all of a sudden the game pulls some heart of the cards BS and destroys you.
There's always an inherent weakness with every character. Learn their opening pattern and go the complete opposite way. That's how I beat marie 30 times.
I've been playing Splatoon 3 since launch and I've never played a single game of the card game. I don't know anything about it. I figured card side games are always trash in games, so why bother?

I played it at launch, enough to get the level 30 win animation. It's a fairly fun turn-based adaptation of turf war but man is it slow, it needed to have some kind of skip button. Maybe they sped it up in later updates but I never bothered going back to it
It's not really a card game, getting cards and adding them to the deck just means having certain shapes of blocks you can play on the board. It's kind of like turn based multiplayer Tetris. Can be fun, but not everyone's thing.

Too bad, first spinoff is a life sim/tableturf TCG where you collect furnature for your apartment block. Unlike animal crossing, the items are physics based so you have to meticulously place them and avoid knocking it all over.

Solo Q would probably be better since right now, if a team has cooler and the other doesn't, the cooler team has such a massive advantage overall before the game has even started.
Overall though it'd be worse for the game, since the cooler buffs are really fun. Having Splatoon 1 Quick Respawn back feels so good.
I think it's because of the splatfest and fomo that keeps this game alive. I only hop on for my gacha or salmon run daily before dipping to other games. After getting to the 1k hour mark and not beating campaign or 100% side order I'm satisfied with what I got. Going back to Inkling boy for the final season.
It is. The devs might be kind of moronic, but the gameplay was good even in 1, and it's only continued to be improved over time. 3 is even the one I've played the most.
I haven't played any other game that scratches the same itch, so there's not really an alternative here either

Honestly I would like them to make swimming an option. I know that would fundamentally change how the game is played but if they're going to include so many maps that essentially have the same choke point in the middle and offer little verticality then they clearly need some new ideas. Also like others mentioned: fix the matchmaking. Why am I getting pitted against two players capable of 20/3 and yet none of my teammates can achieve even 5 splats.

It's not some buyers remorse or Stockholm syndrome towards the game, merely seeing the game as a whole, good and bad and preferring whats good and highlighting the bad with hopes of improvements.
Improvements don't always come but map reworks, along with the quality of post launch additions, are notably better than the base game.

I still get over how disappointing Side Order was in terms of replayability. I thought that despite the low number of objectives, there would be a high amount of floors with the same five objectives for a combination of 400 with random spawn patterns. But it's the same pool of preset levels with the same spawn patterns and the only thing random is what upgrades you get and the occassional bonus/danger

Im just saying 1 captured the raw essence of Splatoon better than 2 and it did so in a way where it could be enjoyed both by newcomers and skilled players alike. The levels were designed for exploration and multiple angles of approach. Now everything is much more cramped with limited options, as they want to funnel you into one predictable area seemingly for balancing reasons, leaving to many maps being cramped and samey. Each game has had its bad share of maps, but 1’s map design philosophy struck a solid balance for its first attempt at the formula.
Splatoon 4 should focus even more on Salmon Run, since that's the only Game Mode worth a damn at this point.

Hell, 3 added QoL stuff that feels weird to not have going back to play 1 or 2. Getting together to just play used to be such a hassle. Gotten so used to rolling that not being able to do it in the other games fricks with muscle memory.

True, a good team of randoms can salvage a shit rotation, but that's once in a blue moon. Also it's maps like these, where the beach and basket may as well be on two different maps entirely, that make it ball-busting to go solo.
