You're better off just dropping it if you don't enjoy it, but Splat 3 is still fun even with its rough edges. The QOL improvements have all been a nice step in the right direction. With the Gamecube online was practically non existent when Xbox was breaking ground. Then with the next generation the PS3 and Xbox 360 took online further than it had been before, as well as focusing on HD development. Nintendo was stuck with the Wii and online was an after thought there. Then they had to play catch up with Wii U since it was their first HD console. And now here we are. Other companies, other studios have had more experience with online games than Nintendo has, that's a fact. So instead of just giving up on online games altogether, it would be wise for them to keep experimenting and improving on what they can, because nowadays it's become apparent that a lot of games are online oriented and Nintendo knows this. They're not just gonna make Animal Crossing or Smash Bros or Mario Kart single player games, you're out of your damn mind.

says N-zap is a good hybrid support weapon. It can do a little bit of everything - fight, turf, support, has a good bomb, light and nimble. Just a good all arounder

Yep, it's not as 'exciting' as a nozzlenose but it's just a solid weapon, even at the highest level of play. Good for beginners too. Consider some special charge up + special power up (increases cooler duration, very important), maybe a little run + swim speed, stealth jump. LDE is good for bomb spam as well, comeback works fine too. Some utility subs (can run one sub of): one quick super jump, one ink resistance, one bomb defense. a sub or two of intensify action will help with your accuracy while jumping as well, and one special saver is good bang for its buck. But don't skip the quick super jump, it's good.
I recommend Dapple Dualies or N-Zap 85 if the Tacticooler is your concern
