's final day
Is it? At least the gamepads can be used on pc after it goes offline? I can't imagine the pain of buying that and having a brick in the shape of a gamepad after Stadia died.
I got a couple Stadia kits last Christmas when they were sold at a massive discount (one for myself and one for my brother), like $24 bucks a pop. I had no intention of trying the service; I just wanted the controller for my collection and my brother wanted the Chromecasts, so I'm at least interested now that I have a wireless way to try it without playing streaming games. As a bonus, I got my full refund for them right before this past Christmas.
Is it good? I have a zeebo and steam controller solely because they were cheap since no one wanted them, and i could use a wireless one with a real d-pad.
Stadia controller is second most comfortable after the 360 controller imo. I'm not usually a fan of symmetrical sticks but the overall form factor is just right.
Diagonals were hard to press for me using the stock d-pad but I stuck one of those stick-on circle pad things made for the DS4 d-pad and it's been great (though I had to cut a bit off to stop the analog stick hitting it).
Like a stiffer, clickier version of a Saturn d-pad

Remember, hypernormal stimuli exist, and they can and are easily produced by those who are smart enough to craft them and duplicitous enough to consider them. Despite our better efforts, we can never be completely immune to propaganda.
Time to gloat on various dead Stadia fanboy channels that I told them so, because I did. I did tell them so. Heh.
Maybe the next company after OnLive and Google can figure out how to break the laws of physics including the speed of light, causality and thermodynamics.
Yeah and the whole impossibility thing. >actually I enjoy having my graphics card and cpu at least tens of miles away from my keyboard and mouse or controller
Stadia probably would have been a moderate success if they didn't have the fricking nerve to charge on a per game basis on top of having a sub fee.
Microsoft is definitely working towards it, but they're also taking the "not fricking moronic" approach of having it not actually being "steaming-only"
Exactly. That's why Nvidia/Xbox/Playstation's streaming services aren't failures - they're secondary supplementary services that exist in ADDITION to traditional gaming platforms (for now lol). They're not fully separate competitors meant to be a SUBSTITUTE for traditional platforms.
>he was there when PS3 was shitting the bed, he left and PS3 become good >he was there when Xbone was shitting the bed, he left and Xbone become kind of alright >he was there when Stadia was shit
And he never left, so Stadia is now dead.
Will we ever find out why slop doesn't work on gamers? Any greedy CEO can put out a new film studio or record lable and get a return on their investment, but every single time they try with video games, it flops. Every single time without fail.
I am more surprised at Amazon than Google. Both of them have infinite money to burn. Google burned it on cloud gaming. Sure, most people knew from the get go that since they can't eliminate delay, it was gonna fail and it did. Amazon on the other hand is tried to develop games regular way. Normal PC games, yet look at this. Really weird.
I honestly forgot about that. Amazon at least gives me games that I can add on my GOG account or EA's shit service, meaning they are there to keep for me. As long as they continue that, they are not offending me with their attempts.
These fricking CEOs, they see all the money Nintendo and Sony and MS makes and are like "hey gimme summadat", get BTFO and pull out right away, probably firing all the sycophants in the process. No balls. Microshit was in the red for years and they kept going.
Wait, Nintendo was making more money than Sony on the early 2000s?
Wtf, why every single gaming magazine was pushing the Nintendo is going to be dead narrative? Because of the supposed Microsoft buy out?
From N64 to Gamecube, their home consoles did not sell well. They either break even or made profit overall through software/peripheral sales etc. Their big money puller was the handhelds. Overall this doesn't spell doom to a company but purely hardware sales point their competitor was pulling 80 or 100 million numbers while they were around 20 somethings. Pretty easy to say this is a failure looking purely at these numbers.
nintendo has only sold hardware at a loss with the wii u and 3ds, while it's standard for sony and microsoft to sell their consoles at a loss for a while before they bring manufacturing costs down.
not to mention nintendo's handheld division was still massively profitable during the time the N64 and gamecube were selling disappointing numbers.
Streaming companies can just pre-load a show or movie quickly while you are watching it and there won't be any delay because it's 1 sided communication between the server and the streaming service. however with Stadia this went both ways and since the game had too always update there would be delays for any person who doesn't have nasa internet. now the thing is that if you play on a console the game is already on the console so there is no delay there and if you are on pc then you'd download the game so once again there would be no delay. this means that Stadia was essentially trying too give poeple a shittier experience that costs more.
Sorry OP, but console wars are "cringe" and "harmful to Ganker's ad revenue" according to you newbies.
Now, at least for me, to see this fricking worthless piece of literal fricking garbage crumble into dust brings a smile to my face. The soil is fertilized and the reign of quality vidya is extended by another decade.
There isn't a massive amount of tears over Stadia dying on Twitter, but what IS there is pure fricking delusional GOLD. The level of denial would almost be frustrating to me if Stadia wasn't explicitly dying tomorrow. A lot of them are still talking exactly like stiff marketing shills, to the bitter end.
Stadia was probably just given so much runway well in advance and Google figured out at some point a while ago that it wasn't worth putting in anymore money. While Stadia was a flop, it probably wasn't the kind that was actively burning money that wasn't already set aside for the division.
>stadia-tan still represents work that real people put in, and cared about
still soulless and if those people cared they can put that effort someplace else
>happy that stadia died because the controllers are supposedly great and should be cheap to get a hold of now >retailers already got rid of their stadia inventory >no controllers on auction sites because nobody bought the fricking things
well shit
You should be on the look out for those things. When no one wanted a Vita TV there were bundles with a Lego game I think, a memory card, a DS3 and a Vita TV that were cheaper than buying a DS3 alone. You could sell the memory card and the game to gain net profit. There was also PS Classics going for very cheap. You can mod those and I hear they are pricey now.
I was more like trying to say be on the look out for these unwanted vidya stuff. They fail commercially and can be obtained for cheap due to that and can be modded/improved with community efforts, becoming useful. After a while its second had prices soar but I don't sell stuff so it's unrelated to me.

stadia already can't be obtained for cheap though. that was the first thing said and you disputed it. look online. there were hardly any of them in circulation because it launched as a failure and google knew that
people read the internet these days and know the controller can be reused. it's $40 everywhere
Sorry stadia, but the idea of paying full price+subscription tip to play games I dont on a PC I dont own and have to stream bringing in lag and artifacts nd other bullshit I dont need to deal with really killed all desire I had to support you.
Ah well, it was a fun throwback to the Ouya hype while it lasted. Made for good bait too
holy shit for real
i remember buying the starter kit for like 5 bucks and i never even fricking used it
i fricking regret opening that box tho now i only have that controller
>HAHA STREAMING FROM OUR SERVERS WITH UNBEARABLE INPUT LAG IS THE FUTURE YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND BE HA- >*flops*
Stadia's failure saved us from a nightmare.
I think it was going to fail no matter what, but if Google didn't go full moron with the pricing structure then I suspect the blowback wouldn't have been big enough to de-incentivize other companies from throwing their hats in the ring.
I don't feel bad for Google or Stadia, they can both rot in hell. I just literally feel more sorry for a fictional and unofficial personification of the platform.
It never started

Yep, it goes offline tomorrow.
You can use the controller as a normal controller on pc.
That's something at least.
I got a couple Stadia kits last Christmas when they were sold at a massive discount (one for myself and one for my brother), like $24 bucks a pop. And Wack-A-Mole was too fast for her too
This is exactly what I thought the joke would be when I read that first strip.
Good riddance. Too bad game pass is going to carry on the flame.
Really? For some reason I thought it already died.
RIP I guess.
Stadia-chan and Ouya-chan are the only good things from either
The only game worth playing (Wave Break) is on Steam, anyways
images like these have gotten to me before but this one just doesn't tug my heartstrings at all given the product was total dogshit
Yeah the internet explorer images got me to use it as my default browser for 9 months.

Maybe the next company after OnLive and Google can figure out how to break the laws of physics including the speed of light, causality and thermodynamics.
Having a giant like Google fail at it will hopefully likely dissuade any serious attempts at a streaming-only game platform for a while.
Yeah and the whole impossibility thing.
>actually I enjoy having my graphics card and cpu at least tens of miles away from my keyboard and mouse or controller
Yeah anon it was the business model, sure.
Microsoft is definitely working towards it, but they're also taking the "not fricking moronic" approach of having it not actually being "steaming-only"

Stadia probably would have been a moderate success if they didn't have the fricking nerve to charge on a per game basis on top of having a sub fee.
True, it's a lucky break that Google decided to approach building a gaming platform with an absurd level of clueless hubris and greed.
You got to wonder if the set decorator was making a joke or if this was a genuine mistake
Of course he was anon. He probably pitched it as a joke and the clueless execs bought it
No F in the chat from me.
Someone should make a comic of her committing the rope neck.
believe me, its not you stadia-chan, it's your parents fault.
Why would there be one? Google can’t do anything right so it was doomed to fail. Maybe if they gave everyone google fiber then it may have lived
I fricking hate Merryweather and shit humor so much.
I like some of his comics, but I don't like him.
>he was there when PS3 was shitting the bed, he left and PS3 become good

And he never left, so Stadia is now dead.
Making a gijinka/console-tan of a failure of a console will not make me give a shit about it.
Stadia was a piece of shit and deserved to die.
>stadia was a piece of shit
the console didnt make itsself, so dont blame it for failing.
I can and will autismo.

It's cool how Sony's red years line up with the PS1, PS2 and PS3 release years.
I'm disappointed that this cuts off right before the Wii U era.
Wait, Nintendo was making more money than Sony on the early 2000s?

They've been doomed since 1889, or so they say

who else unlocking their free BT controller?
So they allowed unlocking? Good on Google.
>allow
you realize it's not a one click button from their side to enable the function right?
>latency doubled
lame. Polling rate was 250hz before.
Lucky I got two Stadia controllers, I'll keep one stock.
somebody will prob figure out a way to up that in days
controller latency at 125 vs 250hz isn't really important though. maybe for like, the best cod controller players who exist. lol.
I'd jizz on her grave.

no, you should go to estate sales and be on the look out for valuable tools
I mean if you have the money, sure, do that.
the reason you do it is it's relatively cheap. buying electronic shit to resell is a lot more expensive
I was more like trying to say be on the look out for these unwanted vidya stuff. for that price might as well just get xbox series
If so I stand corrected.
Yeah I was looking around to see if I could snag one for cheap. Maybe Google will sell them as standalone controllers.
