I can't bear playing fricking Defect because the orb mechanic is so boring.
Claw decks are great tho and it's what I'm always gunning for.
>Heart is a poorly designed, anti-fun boss
This. I have fun all the way up to heart. I don't even mind the 2 spire dudes you have to kill first. Fighting the heart is just a chore and is pretty boring. Making the player give up resting and a chest to get 2 of the 3 pieces needed to unlock the boss is pretty meh too. Just make it something that always happens because having to give up items/upgrades while "strategic" isn't fun for me.

Just go for the Heart if you have a busted deck. Collecting all 3 talismans is piss easy.
>Just go for the Heart if you have a busted deck.
Do you guys not go for the heart every game? Is it considered a successful run only if you beat the heart or does beating act 3 count? I've been playing on ascension level 10 for everyone.
>Do you guys not go for the heart every game?
I don't. >Is it considered a successful run only if you beat the heart or does beating act 3 count?
Who cares, lol. I'm playing the game to enjoy it, not to have a pissing contest with larping Gankerirgins.
Anyway, the game unlocks further Ascensions if you beat Act 3 boss. The Heart is not needed.
I didn't bother with it when ascending, just beating act 3 counts, but all my a20 runs are aiming for the Heart, the few times I'm an idiot and manage to forget a key I just abandon the run if I realize it before the end.
A run is only won when you get the three talismans and GET to the heart
Losing to the heart still counts as a win in my book
Of course winning against the heart is the ultimate win
>Losing to the heart still counts as a win in my book
Ok, that makes sense. Beating the heart in STS feels way harder than final bosses in other games. For example if I was playing Isaac I wouldn't consider it a successful run if I didn't beat XYZ final boss at the end. I
>Inscryption cabin was great but quickly then shit the bed
describes my experience with it as well. feels like 80% of their budget went into their (very well done) spooky atmosphere. the card game itself feels relatively shallow when compared to similar games. i guess it's fun if you get a real hardon for ARGs and figuring out meta story content.
I played Griftlands for a good 60 hours and had perfectly fine fun but then I made the "mistake" of going back to play a run of of StS and I couldn't play Griftlands again anymore.
It's really not and I have no idea why people keep repeating that. It's imo one of the weakest deckbuilders out there - quite a shallow game with little variety between factions/races.
>almost at the end of a run >have an absolute cracked deck and relics >get to the chest room in act 3 >man this deck will obliterate the heart, i should take the key >realize that i skipped the glowing elite
this is the worst feeling
>pick up Wraith Form floor 48 >frick yes another one >instantly upgrade it floor 49 >remember I needed the key from there
Fricking see a God card, upgrade it. Stupid fricking monkey brain is ruining my life.

The whole point of the key is the added challenge. You fight a stronger elite, you give up a rest site, and one relic.

Has another deck builder even come close? Inscryption cabin was great but quickly then shit the bed
Across the Obelisk is the only comparable deckbuilder that I tried.

Monster Train is apparently the closest StP successor but I have yet to try it

sts isn't that deep either.
True but it's definitely deeper than MT.
Try again.

Can you beat it?
Seed: 18ISL35FYK4
AIEEEEEE
what ascension and what character?
oh yeah forgot to mention
Ascension 18+ with Silent
that's an unwinnable seed then.
nice try though
>changes the meta and completely annihilates jorbs
>is also chad
how did he annihilate jorbs?
i can't watch the dude because he's too slow for me. He also relic swaps constantly, which is a mega b***h move with a huge variance swing.
