I don't even know how to tell this story, because it sounds so ridiculous, but it is genuinely one of the most frightening experiences of my life. Every time I think about it, I get cold chills.
I was probably 7 or 8 years old, sitting on my bedroom floor, playing with LEGO. It was morning and I had the window blinds open, so the room was filled with sunlight. I distinctly remember looking at the dark space under my bed, and thinking to myself how silly I was to be afraid of something being under there at night.
(I'm legit having a hard time typing this because the memory is so clear and horrific.) Anyways, there I was playing with LEGOs and feeling very bold and grown-up in daylight. I called out in a mocking tone,

And then a grinning, devilish face popped out from under my bed. I will never forget that face. The twisted little face of an old man with red skin and a rough white beard, grinning an inhuman grin. I rushed out of my room shrieking, into my mom's arms. When I told her what happened, she looked worried and said it was a dream. But I knew it wasn't, because when I went back in the room, the LEGO house I had been building was still there half-finished. I think she knew it wasn't a dream, either.
Probably sounds like a moronic creepypasta, but it's a real memory. I understand it could have actually been a dream somehow, or my mind playing tricks, but I really don't believe it was. I think I asked to see something and got exactly what I wanted. This is going to sound odd, but that's what I love about it. The art is so "raw" because it's akin to a stream-of-consciousness from the author himself. You can call it "doodles" but I call it artistic integrity; a direct stream from Edmund's crazy mind right into his art. A rough, sketchy, deranged artstyle fits splendidly for what the game is going for. Rebirth's style loses the dynamism and edge in lieu of a more rigid, generic, pristine and "perfect" look. I play Edmund's games because I want to see his crooked mind on display. All of his games before were drawn by him, and he developed fans because of HIS art, not because of facsimiles done by strangers.
Also, a ton of detail is lost going from lossless vector art to the pixel artstyle. There's a lot of items and other graphics that have just completely lost the detail from the original game. It would help if the pixel art featured in Rebirth was actually trying to be faithful but a lot of it isn't, not to mention a ton of just plain bad spiriting. There's numerous examples of this.
And keep in mind, it's not like Rebirth actually faithfully adapted the graphics into its own style. There's a lot that isn't meaningfully captured in the transition. I can name, numerous, NUMEROUS examples.

Some of the greatest games of all time were made in huge time crunches. A ton of beloved second/third generation games had development times that didn't even last longer than a year. Isaac and Wrath of the Lamb were both made in about three each, plus the time spent on the Halloween Update. I'd argue these tight crunches can result in focused, astounding creative displays of passion and diligence.
And Edmund can (or at least) is able to fricking draw. He had a huge wealth of art (and games) done before Isaac. There's a difference between an amateur doodling and an artist doodling.

That "game jam" story was between Himsl and Edmund making a prototype for the game, and it wasn't a competition, just a thing the two did by their lonesome. Once they settled on the concept, they then went into development, which lasted for three months. Edmund keeps his development times short as a personal rule as he believes in making smaller games They obviously did not make the entire original game in a weekend.

He sat up in bed, looked out a bedroom window and thought he saw three leprechauns standing in a field next to the farm house.
He couldn’t believe his eyes but yes, they were standing roughly 50 feet away from the house. He was amazed and intrigued by it. He needed to verify he wasn’t dreaming and so he stood up and walked to the window to get a better view. . They were there, they were real, but obviously not of this world. They were dressed alike - green pants, long sleeve jackets, black boots. They were energetic and animated, talked quickly with high pitched voices. He couldn’t understand what they were saying, but they appeared to be very happy, smiling and laughing. He could also hear music faintly with an unknown melody. The leprechauns had no instruments, he couldn’t recall any instruments that made the sounds, it seemed the music was emanating from their presence. They looked directly at him several times. They were aware he was watching them and they were allowing it.

I've never seen a gnome or fairy but I've several experiences with ghosts, and I spoke to my father a few times after he died. I also grew up in a very small mountain town and I've been stalked through the woods by something while fricking around at night as a kid. There's definitely more to the universe than a lot of people want to think.

He visited me a few times in the months after he died just to visit and ask me how I was doing. I assume he stopped because he moved on to whatever comes next. It was a pretty intense experience but there's no feeling like knowing for absolute certain that death isn't the end.

You don't frick with fae or else you're inviting evil upon yourself. If they decide to live on your property then they'll do you little favors and you repay them by leaving food and drinks out at night.
This. Attempting to communicate with the spirits on your own is suicidal. You are more likely to encounter them in rural areas and if you ever encounter them - just let them do their thing and occasionally offer them a tribute.

I prefer the PS1 version of FF1 to the NES version, though the GBA and PSP versions go too far. I've yet to play the MSX or PR versions.
REmake 1
REmake 4 - never liked OG 4 as much as 1-3, gunplay is harder and more engaging plain and simple
Twin Snake - yeah I said it, the voice acting sucked ass in the og too

MM 3D - project restoration obviously
Zero Mission - Metroid 1 was kinda shit
AM2R - Metroid 2 was kinda shit too, as is the official remake

4 was never great it ruined the franchise for the next several games, at least REmake 4 makes the casual shootbang feel slightly more expansive like a proper RE game. Peak was and will always be classic RE2.
I feel like all the remakes (especially the newer ones) just aren't nearly as charming as the originals in a lot of ways, and in a game known for the cheesy characters and arcade action like 4 it really shows.
The remakes are better games yes but they lost all the charm and identity that the original games had. They are incredibly clean and safe.
