The baffling success of the tv show has given them a whole new audience who didn't see the disaster of Starfield, they would have to be moronic to shut them down there's still one more high selling game in them
Personally I've played every bethesda game since morrowind, and every single time people would complain about the newest game >oblivion is just morrowind for modern moron gamers >fo3 is just oblivion with guns >skyrim is just oblivion for even dumber more modern zoomer morons >fo4 is just shitty radiant quests and phone game base building
And the worst part is I liked all of them.
Starfield is so shit it's shittiness cannot be compressed into one catchy slogan, it would take a team of scientists months to write a proper disertation of everything that is fundementalyl wrong with that "video game" which despite all odds has no actual video gameplay other than shooting raiders on empty planets, yet has more mechanics than quantum physics.
Fallout 4 is a decent RPG. From a technical and content perspective it's also the best fallout but of course boomers have to cope how muh fricking New Vegas is so much better
It's a good game but there's 0 roleplaying. You play the role of one of two people.

I mean you roleplay geralt of rivia in witcher 3 and that's still easily the best wrpg of the last decade.
You can roleplay in any game if you're sufficiently deluded.

>one game lets you create a brand new character >the other makes you play an already estabilished character from 2 previous games and books
I got lucky because I thought new vegas was just as mediocre as fo3 so I never got my hopes up for 4.
It has easily the best companions and gunplay of the 3, the worst part is they cranked those skyrim radiant quests to 11.

Yeah the only downside is repetitive ass quests and the "a village needs your help" meme. Thankfully it's not entirely mandatory to suffer through
It is. Even biggest Bethesda zealots and famous patch creators who are familiar with the engine work complained about how bad Starfield is. The game is irredeemable trash.
That's fine, no one is playing it and their reputation is still destroyed. No one will be hyped about Fallout 5 or TES 6 now. Sales don't mean shit when your next product has already been ruined by a tainted reputation.
Not him but every company that microsoft has bought went to shit almost immediately, and to think people actually thought microsoft would make blizzard less shit than what activision did to them.
Do you remember redfall?
The fact is these games are soulless and made like shit at this point, these companies need to collapse and their talent needs to go to smaller studios, and that's not going to happen while microsoft throws billions of dollars at actual dogshit games.
>Release 'next gen' update >The added 'content' is literally a bunch of creation content crap that immediately shows up on your pipboy, confusing and breaking the immersion of new players >Half the quests rely on radio signals that don't even work >Breaks all previous mods and destroys fallout London
Holy shit, they actually do zero qc. My bet is they didn't think the fallout show was going to be popular and then shit bricks and pushed it out.
this is true. my buddy who works at microsoft said they're making a new studio to remake fallout 1 and bring it into the 21st century (more diversity and inclusion)
After the gigantic success of the TV series?
They would be crazy to shut down Bethesda now that they've finally did something that's profitable after the buyout.
You know that Amazon has to pay them brand fees right?
Additionally, Microsoft still has the right to the Fallout IP so any merchandise or game bought thanks to the success of the show will roll back to Microsoft. Which is definitely the case because F4 numbers are once again climbing after the show.
Also also, a good TV show is really fricking good for PR.
Oh man can you imagine a future where microsoft starts their own streaming studio and just scrapes every game dev they own to the bone to make video game shows instead of TRASH video games?
Starcraft show, dishonored the movie, 7 more seasons of fallout, this may all have just been a clever plot on microsoft's part to consume the most broadcastable video game IPs in the western world.
I don't actually know, Trokia made it with sierra, trokia folded and sierra was bought by blizzard, but who owned the IP is beyond me, if it folded into the grave you can make an Arcanum show yourself right now.
It's surely an interesting idea, but what will they do once they run out of popular games to create shows about? Won't they have to go back to make games so they can make shows about them again?
VTMB is owned by world of darkness who got bought out by CCP games of eve online fame some time ago so impossible.
I've been wondering. They own the studio that makes the State of Decay games right?
They could make a completely unrelated zombie TV series and just call it a State of Decay ""adaptataion". There's a chance it would rekindle the interest in the zombie horror genre.
I think the zombie fad is gone, wouldn't sell all that well in a post-covid world, they've tried to remake walking dead like 6 times now and it never does well, and that was the biggest zombie show on tv.

>I think the zombie fad is gone, wouldn't sell all that well in a post-covid world
The Last of Us was very successful among the mainstream and it's a zombie show. I think people just need time to cool down from the oversaturation the genre got in the 2010s. >they've tried to remake walking dead like 6 times now and it never does well
Yes but that could just be fatigue specific to that series. The showrunners have messed way too much. People just don't care about the Walking Dead, but I don't think it's that easy to dismiss an entire genre.

I think people liked the last of us because it was gay sex the show, but it still didn't do as well as lets say fallout which could have had zombies (feral ghouls) but made them super limited, one main character and one guy going feral who dies that same episode he's introduced.

>VTMB is owned by world of darkness who got bought out by CCP games of eve online fame some time ago so impossible.
Vampire the Masquerade is owned by White Wolf which are part of Paradox Entertainment. CCP are no longer involved whatsoever. The actual video game Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines is owned by Activision. If you buy the game on GOG or Steam, Activision gets the money as they are the publisher since 2004. Activision however do not own the franchise, that's White Wolf (Paradox Entertainment).
So in order to get a VtMB remake both Microsoft (owners of Activision who own the original game) and Paradox (owners of White Wolf who own the franchise) would need to collaborate. That's not something that will happen, hence why Paradox are having The Chinese Room making Bloodlines 2 and other trash.

Jfc when did that happened?
>Buy out japanese game companies?
Metal Gear Solid TV show? I'd like that very much.
Realistically speaking, would we be able to see VtMB remake or remaster since Microsoft owns Activision/Blizzard?
Isn't VtMB owned by Paradox? Unless Microsoft buys them, it's probably impossible and tencent has shares in Paradox so I don't know how a buyout would even work there.
It's surely an interesting idea, but what will they do once they run out of popular games to create shows about? Won't they have to go back to make games so they can make shows about them again?

It's actually Bethesda France that has been shut down
~12 employee that (from what I understand) werr focusing on promoting Beth games online and, localization and marketing
They told that they never trult recovered from Redfall and Starfield disaster launch >While The Elder Scrolls Online is considered a success in France, Bethesda entered a turbulent period in 2023 with Redfall and Starfield, a former employee speaking of "catastrophic launches" for both. >"The catastrophic launches of Redfall and Starfield were very hard on us, and maybe that's what convinced Microsoft to stop its local offices and refocus its forces," he confided.

microsoft would be right in firing every single one of them and hand the ips over to some new competent people
I don't want the IP's handed to anyone else, I want them put in some warehouse never to see the light of day again. We need to heal gaming, not perpetuate the worst aspects of it.

no i want them to call it fallout boy studios and then sue that shitty fricking band into the ground

for me it was fallout 4 was that bad, so much so i didnt give shartfield the time of day
Let me tell you I never really liked fo4 but after playing starfield fo4 is a fricking gem.
Fallout 4 is a decent RPG. From a technical and content perspective it's also the best fallout but of course boomers have to cope how muh fricking New Vegas is so much better

humorous
It is. Even biggest Bethesda zealots and famous patch creators who are familiar with the engine work complained about how bad Starfield is. The game is irredeemable trash.
Starfield pulled 10x its budget, by the way. BGS literally prints money.
>Starfield pulled 10x its budget,
Pffft, no.
That's fine, no one is playing it and their reputation is still destroyed. No one will be hyped about Fallout 5 or TES 6 now. Sales don't mean shit when your next product has already been ruined by a tainted reputation.
the TV show alone says that fallout 5 will be super hyped let alonge the fact there will be a second season before fallout 5 is put out
You guys said this about Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 too, by the way.
starfield was a failure but i doubt they're shutting it down
Todd Howard died with his studio. I'm the Punisher now.
Not a Rumor: I fricked OPs mom
Frick off. Stop giving me false hopes.
why would you want bethesda to shut down though?

Everything after Skyrim is dogshit
Frick I've never wanted a bullshit ass rumor to be more true in my entire goddamn life.
I don't believe it, simply because there's no way Microsoft would make an intelligent decision in 2024.

fake as frick, but i can see microsoft stepping in and forcing them to let other studios make fallout&elder scroll games.
Todd always wins
After all the other companies Bethesda killed, that would be karma and the industry would be better for it.
so the update did nothing for pc
