No one cares who did it first.
The only thing that matters is who did it well enough to popularize it.

fake and gay, todd howard actually built a time machine which he then traveled back to 93’ to steal the idea of doom and then went forward to 95’ to work on the game

Nobody cares, he just brought bethesda to ruins with starfield flop. Give it a few months and the news regarding restructuring the company by Microsoft will surface.

Descent came out more than a full year before Quake, as well. This isn't news.

Reusing an OP image is not avatar use. Lurking the same thread and pretending you have a personal character is avatargayging. It seems he did spam it on certain days, though.

Just tell him that it's not true in every thread and then we all frick off. Kaare and Julian were responsible for Future Shock leading and Bethesda engine development during the time and Todd was business side paper pusher.

    >quake engine goes on to be forked ad infinitum to serve as the basis for most modern game engines
    >XnGine is used for Daggerfall and those shitty games Battlespire and Redguard before being mostly forgotten
yeah I think we know who came out on top

Yes, everyone knows about Future Shock. There's actually a lot of games that released before Quake, Quake did not invent polygons or 3D games.
It's also slow, buggy as frick and plays pretty badly. You might be surprised to learn that nobody thinks that Doom invented sprites or first person perspectives, either.

Nobody mentions the 3 Terminator games they made before Future Shock, including the outright Doom clone, for a good reason.
Stay off Twitter and play some games.

pretty sure Julian Lefay was the main director and programmer until he left

Were the Bethesda Terminator games considered good back then? All I've heard is that they are buggy as hell, but I'm not sure if that's from people playing them in Dosbox/on modern systems or if they were originally that buggy.
