> “AI works best when there is a lot of data available that represent the tasks you’re targeting,” states Yves Jacquier, Executive Director of Ubisoft La Forge. “As such, repetitive tasks are particularly suited to be generalized and automated.” By using motion capture data to train AI models, realisticand fluid character animation will be generated.
>Jacquier explains, “AI also has the potential to assist in automating the animation workflow, reducing the time and effort required by animators. Another prototype we developed at La Forge is Zoobuilder, which helps create 3D animations for animals from videos using machine learning. We’ve been using generative AI in voice synthesis, DeepMotion, text-to-speech and now Ghostwriter, our in-house tool created to assist scriptwriters. We’re seeing fast progress in terms of adoption internally in areas like ideation or concept art.
>We expect a similar trend in programming with assistance for writing code or finding the potential source of a bug and proposing a fix. We can expect the use of AI assistants to rise and progressively become an integral part of our everyday routine, going beyond basic functions to handle intricate tasks, such as assisting with coding and executing complex commands.”
>Being able to ask Unity AI, ‘How do I make a Match 3 game?’ It lists it out in steps for you. Getting that type of help accelerates creators on whatever part of their journey, whether they’re a starter, intermediate or expert.

All true and based, incredibly rare from Ubisoft to do anything competent, quite a miracle
Ubisoft has always been one of the most soulless game companies, so it makes sense that they'd be one of the first to become completely run by AI. The Ass Creed factory will run itself.
>soulless
You fricking what?
Nta but you would literally never touch this game is it didn't have Mario on it.
>NTA but you would literally immediately touch this game if it didn't have raving Rabbidz in it
ftfy
The one what-the-frick game idea that was truly soul, the lead dudes in charge were genuinely passionate about it.
>what if minions(rabbits) met mario
>soul
heh
if instead of mario it was Ass Creed Man, you wouldn't look at it twice
>have a chance to use the Mario franchise
>make this
>apparently a metroid themed xcom game was once refused by nintendo
>greenlight this
nani the FRICK was their idea
>a meteroido ex-comm themed game? no thank you, prease understand that meteroido doesn't serr
>a mario ex-comm themed game? of course we are greenrighting this, rets get to business
Meh, Ubislop is already basically AI-generated, so this doesn't surprise me.
Oh boy, even more soulless asscreed.
Do you guys ever not complain, it’s funny sometimes but at this point it’s just getting kind of sad to see people on here regurgitating Twitter luddite talking points.
Oh my lord a sequel to a two decade long running series is the same shit as the very first one!
>must optimize production time
It's sad that they only make games for money.
You'd be stupid not to do this. I don't think it will result in a drop in quality overall, I think quality will rise.
all it means is that you'll be able to produce slightly different animations more cheaply. this helps if your game has hundreds of npcs that aren't supposed to be synchronized in the way they move and behave, which happens if you only have the budget for like 3 idle animations.
in that sense, it can improve "quality". until someone decides this is also good enough for the main characters whose animations are suspiciously similar to characters from other games and lack individual style.
and that of course is not new; the koreans have been doing it to anime for 20 years with computerized generation tools. you might say the modern anime is "cleaner" and more consistent than hand-drawn cels from the 90s, but that's why they're also now soulless samefaces in every show. even the move to 3D graphics, using modeling tools, and away from hand-drawn sprites, is also reflective of this "evolution". it means everything moves toward the average. you get less trash, but you also get fewer standouts, because once the tools exist, even the competent artists are going to feel the pressure to use them to save time, and now you've lost something from the end products that you actually care about, in exchange for improving bad games that won't actually become good.
>I don't think it will result in a drop in quality overall
What form of cope is this?!
So Ubisoft is going to be the first company to Delamain itself? At least the AI will have ideas on how to improve their game structure, humans are too lazy to change the formula when they are already raking in money.
AI is still very much in its infancy, and in the places where it shines it is held back by normies being gigantic megahomosexuals.
>How do we make better games, robo-manager?
>*Beeboooop* fire these people, hire these people, stop trying to make photorealistic games made from pre-made assets from New Delhi *BEEEP*
>NOOOOO We can't fire Michelle she's our office Hispanic representative! And all of these hires are white or asian! What do you mean we have to do our own work!? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>How do we make better games, robo-manager?
>"increase our ESG score and outsource more to india for increased profit"
The question posed was "better games" not, "more money." Unrealistic, I know, because nobody fricking cares about making good games, but you get the idea.
Unlike you the AI robo-manager knows this is a business aimed at bottom barrel normalgays.
>"shut up and hire more streamers to shill our game, fleshbag"
I never really thoughtabout this... what if an npc had an actual ai allowing you to basically say whatever you want to it and get a response? Combined with voice ai, it might get interesting although I don't think it will ever replace scripted scenes
this already exists anon. there are mods for Skyrim where you can talk to NPCs. it’s only going to get better from here.
it’s actually surprising how far behind Ganker is when it comes to where vidya is heading. I thought this place was supposed to be based and ahead of the rest of the internet but apparently you homosexuals treat AI the exact same way as plebbitors, ie you’re a bunch of israelited doomers who are about to be eternally btfo by this tech in the next decade
>newbie discovers procedural generation
Ganker is full of luddites and low iqs now that's why
I wouldn't be surprised if most of them were phoneposters too
>Post full of poor English calls others "low iqs"
Iconic.
hey look I found one
There are plenty of games like that on Steam, also Skyrim mods. They are shit, AI is beyond moronic and cannot hold a coherent conversation at all.
It will never work because you don't want your in-game NPC to be able to say anything or you will get autists spending hours talking to it to make it say controversial shit to spread around social media for updoots.
What will likely happen is the use of AI to generate very large dialogue trees very quickly that someone can then trim down into something consistently coherent yet still extremely big.
?t=7
Well that was fricking great
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/five-former-ubisoft-executives-arrested-after-sexual-harassment-investigation
IT'S JOEVER
>ubisoft
why are you morons excited?
>why are people excited about one of the best videogame companys in the world making huge progress towards more amazing games
Yeah I guess we're the morons huh? LMAO
>muh large language models.
Can these lazy morons apply it to something actually in gaming like enemy AI in strategy games? Imagine playing a classic total war game with an AI that doesn't suck complete ass and tries varying strategies.
>corporate AI slop
>that'll be $69.99
this will be every AAA/AA game in the near future
>AIslop + Ubislop
Match made in soulless hell
your just another salty artcel mad because your patreon is losing money LMAO
I would like a Watch Dogs where the NPCs all had schedule and unique dialogue like in that Matrix demo that got paired with ChatGPT.
But Ubislop are too moronic and incompetent to do something interesting. Ever.
>online only garbage
That's like two layers of trash.
holy chonkers…
>UBISOFT: Hiring more pajeets to proompt will reduce our development costs
What a bunch of morons
I thought Ubisoft games were already made by an AI
>not understanding the difference between not liking lazy procedurally generated crap and aiding a workflow with automated tools.
>unironically arguing the procedural generation of 2023 will be the same as the procedural generation of 2040
have a nice day moron
>not understanding the topic
>coming up with moronic ideas and projecting them onto others
Prepare for AI slop instead of a pajeet slop
How come Valve are super anti-AI? Even their ex-employees like Chet Valisek have this stance. Aren't they supposed to be based?
Well when you run a store front and you already saw the damage unity did with the flood of asset flip shit I wonder why they would hate something that can potentially produce a super amount of shit.
>super anti-ai
so pro-soul?
That is based. If only they took the same stance against other forms of extreme low-effort games.
Why are there so many people who act like NFT shills when talking about machine learning? It goes beyond being excited for a some new tech to acting like their livelihood depends on acceptance of their slop generator. This isn't even an interesting development it's just like AAA deciding to use a new tool like Houdini.
Yeah I honestly don't get it. They probably think artists and programmers are the ones making shit games and not the morons in top that make all the decisions. If anything they will be able to make garbage games for cheaper. Maybe they bought stocks or something kek
One day not too far from the future all you have to do to be hideo kojima is to tell an AI what you want, it will be based
Glad they're getting their shit together, even if they needed the biggest, most elaborate crutch ever. I do wonder if they're going to put the AI in the credits or pretend they did it on their own.
>AI assistance this, AI that
Just write some fricking algos or use middleware that slim the production line like you always have instead of thinking "Neural Networks" is some magic bullet. Still waiting on vidya game news to talk about AI in the "Our enemies can actually outwit you logically and fairly" sense.
What they could use it for:
Create unique games with polished mechanics and optimized assets
What they will use it for:
Serialized games with tons of rendering problems and no optimization
Tangentially related, what's with the sanctioned AI slop threads on Ganker now?
The magnitude of spam was too much so they'll be left alone for the time being.
As long as good games are being made I don't give a shit how it happens. Doubt ubisoft is capable of that anymore, ai or otherwise.
AI tools are great but the moment you start feeding LLM lines into characters you've made a big mistake. You can barely get people to sit trough dialogue as it is and now you want to pad it with LLM filler.
How long until we get an "MMO" with fake players powered by AI?
I know there's been games like that with scripted fake players, so there's a market for it.
Next year i am going to college and i was thinking in goinf with coding but the rates things are i going i think its better to go with the hardwere route.
Look up Minecraft Voyager, that's the only AI thing I care about and that's because I'm a friendless autist.
Why do so many people think that adding ai to something makes it good?
because games are shit but they blame artgays and codemonkeys instead of investors and suits
Because deep learning is a shiny new hammer so people are trying to hit everything that looks like a nail with it.
Some combination of technological optimism (moronation) and trying to le own creative types
>trying to le own creative types
what's the reasoning for this behavior?
Jealousy, treating the reception of AI as a personal attack on their own ego or simply wanting to accelerate societal collapse with job displacement.
There are people on this board who genuinely believe that if you just cleared out game studios' art departments the poor oppressed upper management wouldn't be forced to put ugly pozzed bullshit into their games anymore.
most creative types are liberals so it devolves into American red v blue bickering
Jesus, why?
Red v Blue gets the clicks and the donations, so a lot of money and energy goes into fueling it and creating new rabid tribesmen
Its a new thing they know nothing about thats being hyped by the likes of NFT and crypte peddlers in hopes of making money off idiots and artists before moving onto a new scam.
Regardless of AI, Ubishit must hang
All i read is:
>we're going to pump shit out so fast it's going to be like a diarrhea rain up in this b***h, electronic feces gon b falling from the sky.
but if the game is good then it’ll be worth it.
imagine a new elden ring style every year
6th thread up at one time
Yay, now shit studios can pump out shit games even faster!
30 year old zoomer bros, are we finally going to get back to the days when a cool game could come out and then we'd get a good ass sequel in like 1 or 2 years?
>monthly asscreeds
we're going home bros...
>we'd get a sequel in like 1 or 2 years?
Yeah
>good ass
Nah
>Ai gets upgrade
>Shows disgusting deenerate picture
Frick off.
We need to boycott games that use AI
Not having 500 people make a game will greatly reduce development time.
Using AI is just going to make it cheaper to shovel slop.
yay more ubislop
>every game should be like assassins creed and far cry
>a new game every year
>pirates are the biggest problem
>we can have our own store
>NFTs are the future
what has ubi said or done that was not abjectly idiotic and/or has come back to bite them in the derrière?
fully rendered uterus
