That's the excuse always used for Eurojank. The kickass soundtrack obscures the poorly thought out gameplay and level design. And SS is very much Eurojank in the lack of memorable enemies or levels and the cheap bullshit like dying instantly when you touch literally anything.
Silver Surfer really isn't that bad... don't get me wrong it's not a good game or anything, just nowhere near as bad as it's reputation. it's got awesome music and it's playable at least, you could do a lot worse on the NES
"eurojank" is just a forced meme by butthurt stockholm syndrome burgers. is the implication meant to be that there aren't shitty awkward janky jap equivalents? fricking idiots, play more games
People are going through it now. So far several art assets have been haphazardly edited, some remind me of when Nintendo censored hip bones.
The good news though, is the Japanese version still includes English text with none of the censorship. Still, it’s a shame some purple haired localizer got their way on a game they no doubt didn’t care about.
based on my experience at secondhand stores, Abadox is also a relatively common game while the other two are rare and I think I only ever saw a SS cart once.
The BGM excuses everything else
>BGM
>background music
You may as well call it music instead of using worthless acronyms
Everyone knew what he meant, jackass.
Not the point. Don't use midwit babble to appear smarter than you are.
we just got used to the word "BGM" from using games' sound test modes
ironic
BGM has been used for ages in games you fricking inept gorilla.
>You may as well call it music
The M in BGM stands for music, while the BG of course stands for the Bee Gees.
In your case BG stands for Big Gay.
4U
BGM, an LP by YMO had a huge influence on both VGM and EDM. GTFO.
Hah, nice reference.
nice one
Why you didn't tell that to the people who put BGM and SE options into menus for countless games.
These games could be so much better

>and the cheap bullshit like dying instantly when you touch literally anything.
What 2D space shooter didnt do this? That's extemely common.
The Follins soundtrack was good but might have been better if they had more than one track for the entire game.
BGMs!
Touch the wall, you die??? What were they thinking??
Tyrian
Raptor: Call of the Shadows
Major Stryker
Why are you mentioning good games? You're going to ruin the thread.
Stop it, you can't mention shit games from NA.
in usual fashion, Software Creations made better soundtracks than games
>sublicensed by Bethesda
>developed by Radical Entertainment
>published by Mindscape
It's even got the health-damaging liquid drips
Radical Entertainment were leafs, not Euros. They were based in Vancouver.
Yes, anon. That's my point
I want to try it sometime but until I get an autofire controller first.
you wouldn't miss much. go play a Japanese shmup instead.
Thanks. Will do!

I mean, it's ok if you got an autofire controller, still, crashing into walls and dying and the lack of any health bar is complete bullshit.
or that dying causes you to immediately lose all power ups you have
That happens in A LOT of shooters though.
Or the fact that it's often unclear what background objects can be passed over and which ones kill you on contact.
Bullets stop at a wall that kill you, you should pay more attention to the game
without a turbo controller, good luck with this game

Most of the really shitty NES shmups (I mean stuff like Volguard II) stayed in Japan.
>every European game playing like shit is ok because the japanese used to make shitty pc-98 VNs too
Speaking of shmups, the US release of Pocky & Rocky Reshrined got heavily censored. Figured I’d let people know.
How so?

Thats fine, breasts have nothing to add to the gameplay
off yourself, please.
dilate
Thank you for reminding me this game was being released, will pirate the jap version asap.
SS isn't even the most hardcore NES shmup--Abadox and Starship Hector are crazier.
based on my experience at secondhand stores, Abadox is also a relatively common game while the other two are rare and I think I only ever saw a SS cart once.
shmups in general are kinda niche even in Japan
