And yet people run stone edge and head smash. 90 or 95% accuracy is a very small chance at missing

Mainly because they don't have a good alternative. If there was a 100 accuracy, 100 power version of Fire Blast, it'd always be used over the original.

No shit? If there was a widely distributed 100 power 100 accuracy move with no downside for any type people would always use it.
Liquidation and Waterfall are 80 power.

said. People use flamethrower instead of Fire Blast despite a 50 BP difference for a reason.
Hats a choice and most droning players just copy safe team comps off of the internet. It is a viable option and luck is part of the game. If you can risk the miss then it's worth it. Depends on your team.

Fortune favors the ambitious. I run technician instead of skill link on my cinccino and the KOs I can pull are insane. I rarely hit only twice, and three hits is a very minor drop in damage

the faster you kill your opponent's 6 mons the less likely they are to do the same for you so it's always worth running a stronger move so long as it lets you secure KOs and it lets you play around the downsides. The key is it has to be worth it as in it lets you secure a crucial KO by turning a 3HKO into a 2HKO or a 2HKO to a 1HKO.
that's why people ran explosion back in gens 1-4. guaranteed to KO your own mon but if you could remove a key piece of your opponent's strategy then it was worth it.
>50 BP
Fire Blast is 110 Power, 85 Accuracy
Flamethrower is 90 Power, 100 Accuracy
20 Extra power is often not worth the 15% accuracy drop, but 20 extra power and 12.5% crit rate is absolutely worth the 10% accuracy drop.
Bubble beam and aeroblast sound effects, they felt powerful
Honorary mention to ice beam and blizzard, Gen 2 ice beam was amazing and blizzard now just turns your screen white, it's just not great
Shame, it actually looked cool

b***h if I get stab I'm using fireblast, if I'm not using it on a Pokemon with stab like chomp and slowbro I will check my targets to see if I miss a 2hko with flamethrower, Fire blast is the one 110 power 85% acc move that is absolutely worth running just because ferrothorn exists
Alot of anons are forgetting 20 extra power is actually 30 extra with stab. Something like crabhammer, fireblast, hydro pump get much better KO ranges and are worth the accuracy loss
Hear me out. They improved the move so it's now really fricking good as of 8th gen, and it's in Let's Go AND the Virtual console games as a TM, so the coverage became incredible and almost everything can learn it. Then they locked Pokemon who knew it out of being able to use it in online because they couldn't specifically learn the better version of Teleport in Sword and Shield. They improved the shit out of Teleport and made sure a ton of stuff had it just to tell players with Teleport Pokemon to go frick themselves if they wanted to use it in online play. It's the worst version of move cucking.
Close second goes to Dizzy Punch. They finally released the VC games and you can get Pokemon from them with moves that existed nowhere else. Fricking Odd Egg Pokemon with Dizzy Punch! But then they cut the Pokemon who use Signature Move is Dizzy Punch from the games and because of that they completely cut the move out itself. And if you think you can sit on the Odd Egg Dizzy Punch users in Home and just use them in the next game, prepare to be disappointed! Home flags them as cheated in and strips them of an exclusive move. There are no plans to change it and it is likely never going to be updated so they wont be flagged. Dizzy Punch got fricking SHAFTED.
I bet most of you guys didn't even know it existed. Gamefreak has pretended it doesn't exist since 6th gen and made most of the pokemon who could learn it dexlocked.
It's an extremely fun game mechanically, maybe the most fun I've had. The jokes are what they are, if you cringe at a blackface Pokemon being the ideal HM slave I don't know what to tell you. It makes me laugh
It's fun and balanced, never feel overly challenging and most mons are viable with great moves. The jokes are very hit or miss, with some very low hanging fruits that might make you roll your eyes.
Gen 5 and 6 introduced a lot of weird gimmicky status moves that are too situational do anything useful.
The Room variants, Power and guard split, Telekinesis, Quash, Bestow, Electrify, Magnetic flux, Flower shield, Powder, Rototiller, Venom drench, probably more I'm forgetting.
>gen 8 signature moves are all beyond busted >old signature moves are either straight downgrades from normal moves, literally removed or spread to more pokemon
Steamroller. It was a solid bug type move with a cool animation and they removed it for no reason. They didn't even cut Scolipede, they just took away his signature move. Sasuga, Gamefreak.
>they just took away his signature move
Game Freak sure does like nerfing Pokémon that don't need to be nerfed, like taking away Rock Polish from Aurorus's movepool in gen 8.
>cool Signature move for the makuhita family >based on cool sumo lore >70 bp normal type for no reason. >secondary effect works on paralyzed pokemon only, which is something the makuhita family can't easily cause themselves >fricking HEALS paralysis after it's used >all this on top of the makuhita family coming with a great move pool, so no matter what game you're playing this pokemon will already have access to way better moves
Why did they do this guy so dirty? Should've been fighting type at least, and shouldn't get rid of paralysis. At least then it'd be somewhat useful for in-game and have niche use in VGC.
Dark Void.
It got nerfed because Smeargle abused it in VGC, and then it got changed so that Smeargle can't even use it but it's still nerfed.
it's broken on darkrai too.
And Darkrai couldn't be used in the VGC at the time anyways due to being an eventmon.
Darkrai was never allowed in VGC, so all it did was kill Darkrai in normal multiplayer.
not like it matters because no one is able to use darkrai on anything
>it got changed so that Smeargle can't even use it
This is more offensive than the nerf, honestly. Such incredible cowardice
Do you mean the animation? Cause crabhammer is amazing on the few things that get it
Worse than waterfall and liquidation
Not really, it's still significantly stronger than either even if its inaccurate.
Crawdaunt in comp still uses Crabhammer.
Yeah but on Kingler it's worse than Sheer Force boosted Liquidation
It is 95 power? And a 10% secondary I think
It's 100 power with an increased crit rate.
Thats it. How is that worse than waterfall or Liquidation. It's 15-20 power higher and the crits can vaporize walls
Crawdaunt used Crabhammer!
>and crits can vaporize wa-
It missed!
And yet people run stone edge and head smash. 90 or 95% accuracy is a very small chance at missing

Liquidation and Waterfall are 80 power.
It's not even close to being worse. Crawdaunt has access to all 3 and opts for Crabhammer 100% of the time.
100% accuracy is better than that slight increase in power, like

>People use flamethrower instead of Fire Blast
It's not recommended.
>50 BP
holy overkill, it has never been more than 30 BP
Wait what.
How... I could swear Fire Blast and Hydro Pump were 150 BP. What the frick.
holy fricking kek anon, Hyper Beam is the move with 150BP
What a tragedy.
Maybe learn what moves do before you try arguing about how good they are next time.

>20 more power
>10% less accuracy
People will always choose that because the KO numbers are much better in exchange for missing rarely
>50 BP

They're both 20 BP differences and people totally use Fire Blast
Aura Sphere past its gen 5 iteration.
You go from a super-fast piercing energy bullet to a small light bubble that pops at contact.
Bubble beam and aeroblast sound effects, they felt powerful

Ion deluge

It pops up on enemy teams in Clover
Neat. Is that rom as cringey as it looks?

>Power and guard split
>Bestow
pretty sure that's Gen 4
>Venom drench
pretty sure that's Gen 7
Wrong on all counts.
Power Split, Guard Split and Bestow are gen 5.
Venom Drench is gen 6
huh. ogey
I don't know how good it is, but venom drench + toxic spikes is extremely satisfying
I literally did not know this existed and thought you were Tentaquil'ing me
I knew it existed solely because Zeraora's signature move has the same effect
>gen 8 signature moves are all beyond busted
>old signature moves are either straight downgrades from normal moves, literally removed or spread to more pokemon
I hate gen 8 so much it's unreal
Steamroller. It was a solid bug type move with a cool animation and they removed it for no reason. They didn't even cut Scolipede, they just took away his signature move. Sasuga, Gamefreak.
Sasuga is supposed to be used when you admire what the superior person is doing.
Japanese people are also familiar with the concept of sarcasm
Yeah okay JSL.
>they just took away his signature move
Game Freak sure does like nerfing Pokémon that don't need to be nerfed, like taking away Rock Polish from Aurorus's movepool in gen 8.
Aeroblast, that animation in Gen 2 made it feel like it had such punch to it. Then it was changed in Gen 3 and never recovered
That's true for almost everything. Gen2 animations were the last time attack animations had punch, before getting neutered because muh kids game.
>cool Signature move for the makuhita family

Just get para with Force Palm :^)
>done dirty
>Running a sub-95% accuracy move
>Ever
You can't score a 2HKO if you fricking miss entirely. If you rely on hitting Fire Blast twice just come up with a different strategy.
Someone is in need of crabhammer correction
>I have special eyes!
>he hasn't 6-0 swept with a head smash tyrantrum
Embarassing
Ever since I lost my Battle Tree streak because Silvally missed on a 95% accurate move I've always stuck to 100% accuracy no matter what.
