Though not incredibly blatant, humanoid and waifu starters began in Gen 6. They got progressively worse until they reached peak shit level in Gen 8.
Thankfully PLA and Legends brought back good starters, except for the awful duck that is so bad GF couldn't have ignored the fan reaction to it.

Mewoscarada is not as bad as the past humanoid starters. I'd say it's the best humanoid starter since Greninja.
As for Skeledirge, that fact that it's more beast than guy wearing a fursuit makes it the best fire starter since Infernape.

It's way better designed than those two. Like I said, it's the best designed humanoid since Greninja.
I've hated every Galar starter since release, Scorbunny specially for those weird arms and the fact that it wears clothes.
Of the last three generations, I'd say only Greninja, the owl, Meowscarada, and Skeledirge are good.
