You punch blocks, You kill, get stuff, get experience, level up, mess around with pixels. And? Why did you do any of that? What purpose did it serve? "Oh I just finished my new house in a block game", so? What now? What's next?

I think building brown bricks is some of the most fun you can have in Minecrap
you can shut up now
>conquest
based. but this better not be a vintage story shill thread
VS is gatekept
>Vintage Story.
I really wish the developer wasn't so slow and lazy with updating that game.
It's been years and there's zero new gameplay stuff, just more pointless fluff. The addition of like 6 gorillion types of butterflies really seemed like the nail in the coffin.
you say that about a bunch of games
why you pick on minecraft?
I just finished a castle in minecraft, which was inspired from Neuschwanstein. But even after finishing it, there is no catharsis, no relief, infact I feel rather pathetic for basically achieving nothing.
All I did was arrange and organize a bunch of pixels.
Consult your nearest clergyman because you clearly lack a soul.
You're looking in the wrong place. It's the process that's fun.
I do get what he's saying though. The creative process and utility of what you built should both be fun.
you type like a gay and your shit's all moronic. If you want to experience achievement you're not going to find it in video-games you braindead ape
>reddit.com in filename
Go back and stay there
because making shit like this is fun
It's a sandbox. You can do whatever you want in it. Kill the ender dragon? Sure. Build massive automated factories and transit? Make a functional redstone calculator? Why not? I usually get bored by these games but plenty of people have fun sitting around and making busy work for themselves.
I can't have a good reason to build cool things or anything to do with the thing I build
Play on a server. You can let other people see the cool things, and the builds can have actual functions if the server has something like towny or whatever similar there might be nowadays.
and you can frick with other people and build huge deathtraps
No imagination?
Creation, but a non white like you wouldn't understand.
Because once you finish the house now its time for a garden around it, then creating a stream nearby, then creating a large basement underneath the house and escape tunnels, defensive traps and fortifications, etc etc and that will be satisfying and pleasing for many more hours. Basically this
except mobs are shit so you don't have to worry about fortifications
>Ayo why r yt ppl climbing rocks so stupid baka
Is this really minecraft? Looks good
Anyway, the problem for me with minecraft is how dead the world feels. The villagers are so moronic, and their trade mechanic is completely broken. Wish there were actually well made npcs to encounter, and actual towns
>get experience, level up
Game went to shit when they added these.
What is the point of doing anything whatsoever?
When it came out over a decade ago, it was exploring new ground
Try Dragon Quest Builders if you want something more structured.
Yea, minecraft serves no purpose, unlike watching sports or playing call of duty
you are a slave to utility, homosexual
The problem with Minecraft is that building serves no actual survival purpose. You beat the game in the first 2 minutes by digging a 3-deep block hole in the ground and then sealing yourself. There should be actual raids on player locations, with risks of actual destruction to player creation.
i dont get it
crafting grid didn't tell you how to make shit back in the day, you just had to figure it out yourself. its part of why minecraft blew up on youtube, people were looking for video tutorials since the game had none.
>crafting grid didn't tell you how to make shit back in the day
wait it does now??
I don't know how you would conduct a study but there is an interesting divide between zoomers and gamers before them. Zoomers just do not understand the concept of "play", they must always be doing something with a goal. Much of the most beloved games of the past were just sandboxes where you durdled around playing with a bunch of tools. Zoomers don't do this at all. Even in games like Roblox or Fortnite, it's sectioned off mini games where there is a very specific player role. If a game like Black and White 2 or came out today, it wouldn't be very popular at all. It's probably why so many people requires games to have progression and RPG mechanics nowadays.
Pic related is a deeply millennial game that zoomers will never understand.
It really depends. Minecraft is fun, you can build anything you want, and tech mods add extra pleasing autism to the mix. Fallout 4 is dogshit because its sandbox mechanics are dogshit and its writing is dogshit, so it's boring to both just frick around and explore (who the frick likes the settlement building?) and it's boring to progress through the story.
it’s simple to dive into and simple to pick up after not playing for long periods. there is a sense of gambling when it comes to finding diamonds, endgame locations, starting seeds etc. so it has that addictive element like a gacha. there is village raids, farming, building, fishing, boating, gliding, living in different biomes so you can role play if you wanted. it’s good for low attention span players, but as you can see the fanbase is incredibly autistic (perhaps more so than sonic) and the game itself is incredibly shallow and you are responsible for making your own fun. I also think the updates keep making the game worse and stopped playing altogether when they went to infinite maps. sure you can get everything in one seed, but the overworld is not nearly as cohesive and sometimes the biomes are literally only a couple of blocks or they go on forever and are typically very empty
Creation. However the real magic of minecraft is playing on servers. The social feedback of creating together is nice.
>"Oh I just finished my new house in a block game", so? What now? What's next?
You build an even more elaborate building. My wife built a massive multi-level castle that spans at least a mile.
What's the point of doing anything? You're gonna die and none of it will matter. Let the people have their fun, dick
>Why did you do any of that? What purpose did it serve? so? What now? What's next?
You could apply this same thinking to real life
morons like you is why we had to get the Adventure Update and all of its consequences
If you didn't have fun building in Minecraft then you are human cattle who exists just to be fed until you're fat enough to slaughter
Is OP a Black person? Like, they cannot grasp what a sandbox game is?
What's the stuff inside of the quadchair?
Very tiny rocks
Minecraft is basically a pseudo digital art program.
The point of it is to build cool shit. Asking WHY? is like asking whats the point of drawing or painting pictures
The problem is that they tacked a dogshit game onto it, so you're talking about fundamentally different things now
Well I play in creative. Survival is just doing the same thing but with skinner box treadmill
just play creative, frickwad
Exploring shit is FUN too
>What is the point of buying a house?
You work hard, You work, get money, get credit rating, save some money, mess around with your credit cards. And? Why did you do any of that? What purpose did it serve? "Oh I just bought my new house in a shitty country", so? What now? What's next?
This looks like Vintage story I think, but it could also be a mod for MC building that lags like a motherfricker and needs a super computer to run.
somehow, the conquest mod package runs absurdly smooth. i swear, i can keep 60fps with no dips while playing this mod+textures but the moment i run vanilla minecraft my pc seems to beg me to end its suffering.
autist builder-anons of Ganker: i just hollowed out a cave on a mountain top in a forest. what should i fill the space with? or what are some cool cave retreats in fiction? i need inspiration.
What fricking game is this
All survival crafting look the same
>AR SURVIVAR CRAFTING ROOK SHAME
enshrouded
thanks anon, i actually like that. it's on the pinnacle of a mountain and has a cool view. thinking maybe a tavern-lodge-batcave mashup.
Looks like a perfect spot for a balcony of sorts, maybe some tables close to it.
>All survival crafting look the same
yeah
Section it with paths, use wood. Think of a tavern. Add wooden support structures, attach lighting to the supports.
So this is what seperates the gen alphas from the zoomers.
Not knowing what the point of Minecraft is.
Truth is it's better in multiplayer with friends when you have an end goal. Building something useful+aesthetic is more exciting when yourself and others get to enjoy & use it.
most minecraft players are zoomers so us(based lenials)vs them(stupid zoomers) rhetoric isn’t applicable there
your survival base should be an organically growing structure, it's never truly done
the only game i think that i've ever played where this was true was space engineers. every other survival game definitely has a final tech tier and an amount of automated resource farming that would render your base 'done'.
it's more that you're expanding your base across as many biomes (and dimensions) as possible
i also don’t really like minecraft
creative mode just doesn’t give me satisfaction after i build something, and i dont really jive with survival for some reason after a while
I used to like minecraft back in like 2011 but now I just cant play it
It gets boring as soon as I start the game because there is no point to anything
How about we just skip the part where we derail the thread to talk about the meaning of life and you just have a nice day already?
