      Learn C.
Look into your uni's courses, ask other students, if they focus on good programming or making as many projects as possible. This usually means using Unity or Unreal. You have to understand that colleges and universities want to make money and they own every project you make for their classes, so they can use it to entice future students to spend tens of thousands of dollars in their diploma mill. This has resulted in game dev courses pushing Unity (when I was in 10 years ago) and probably Unreal now because getting you out the door and getting that chance of a nice looking project is the only thing they're concerned about.

I looked into the courses and there are is unity and C#, I've already learned a bit of C in my vocational college but it was nothing serious, mostly because C sucks ass.

I have trouble concentrating at home so I think it would be better if I did it at some educational establishment.

Cant give you any academic advice, but here's some social advice that i have from first-hand experience: Do not overshare or be too loud/drunk/obnoxious. Its easy to get carried away when youre in this new atmosphere, but you should listen more than you talk, and think carefully before you say anything like a risky joke

And on the off chance you become some big time game maker - make a remaster or sequel for Vexx. Its too good to be forgotten like it has been

      >Do not overshare or be too loud/drunk/obnoxious
I have the opposite problem, i'm too quiet and shy. When people speak loud it causes me to shake and panic even when it's nothing serious.

The sum of all human knowledge is free to access, the point of studying at a campus is to acquire qualifications. This is great if you want to work at an existing studio, but not if you actually want to make games.

you should not go to uni to study game programming, for starters

  18. 4 months ago

Start making your own games immediately. It doesn't matter if they're not on sale. They can be total ripoffs. Just learn to make them by yourself so you're introduced to all aspects of making games. Nobody is going to give you a job based on your academic background since there are even high school trade schools for making games today. This is not 20th century when a MA in informatics could land you a game studio job by itself.

        move to actually doing games
there's a lot to knowing how to create builds, manage pipelines, work from scratch
total conversion mods are still using a foundation built by someone else
even if you're making it better
