Learn C.
Look into your uni's courses, ask other students, if they focus on good programming or making as many projects as possible. This usually means using Unity or Unreal. You have to understand that colleges and universities want to make money and they own every project you make for their classes, so they can use it to entice future students to spend tens of thousands of dollars in their diploma mill. This has resulted in game dev courses pushing Unity (when I was in 10 years ago) and probably Unreal now because getting you out the door and getting that chance of a nice looking project is the only thing they're concerned about.
Don't? Studying anything related to technology was the biggest mistake I ever made in my life.
Abandon computers don't learn to code, the /misc/ meme isn't true. 90% of those jobs will be GONE in less than 5 years.
>What game do you want to make?
Roleplaying game, emphasis on roleplaying >Is a lack of a degree stopping you from making it now?
Yes

I looked into the courses and there are is unity and C#, I've already learned a bit of C in my vocational college but it was nothing serious, mostly because C sucks ass.
An ai can write better than that for free.
These jobs are gone and unless you're in the top 5% of the industry you are fricked
Ai makes shitty code tho, maybe it will change in the future but right now it's almost useless
>They just grow into normal homos
nah, gays evolved into self hating men that want to become women, all femboys will start to troon the frick out the moment they start to bald/ their more masculine features start to show up
I pretended I was studying game development while homeless so people would look at me as moronic so they would leave me alone and let me sleep in the college buildings. It worked on three universities.
you don't need a degree for this
trust me dude, I already wasted 4 years on this shit
just make a game and look up guides online and you'll be smarter than 90% of the people in this career path
I have trouble concentrating at home so I think it would be better if I did it at some educational establishment.
Cant give you any academic advice, but here's some social advice that i have from first-hand experience: Do not overshare or be too loud/drunk/obnoxious. Its easy to get carried away when youre in this new atmosphere, but you should listen more than you talk, and think carefully before you say anything like a risky joke
And on the off chance you become some big time game maker - make a remaster or sequel for Vexx. Its too good to be forgotten like it has been
>Do not overshare or be too loud/drunk/obnoxious
I have the opposite problem, i'm too quiet and shy. When people speak loud it causes me to shake and panic even when it's nothing serious.

The sum of all human knowledge is free to access, the point of studying at a campus is to acquire qualifications. This is great if you want to work at an existing studio, but not if you actually want to make games.
Start making your own games immediately. It doesn't matter if they're not on sale. They can be total ripoffs. Just learn to make them by yourself so you're introduced to all aspects of making games. Nobody is going to give you a job based on your academic background since there are even high school trade schools for making games today. This is not 20th century when a MA in informatics could land you a game studio job by itself.

move to actually doing games
there's a lot to knowing how to create builds, manage pipelines, work from scratch
total conversion mods are still using a foundation built by someone else
even if you're making it better
All successful game developers didn't study game programming
Successful game developers got a gamedev job at 16, it's already over
Not true, lots of them start much later or hit their big break much later.
not really, this is just millennial cope because
>so moronic he has a brain aneurysm before he can finish his post
These losers desperately want videogames to be seen as sports to make them look better.
>if you don't make a game by 25 you will be too old and tired

Learn programming at uni, make games as a side project
Uni teaches nothing about programming, learn it on your own.
