shows what that actually means and that >2011 was a dry year for DS games and a well regarded BW was able to get first place because most of the new games were on the 3DS >2013 was a competitive year for 3DS games with #2 and #3 being released in that year, so even an XY that had the highest rating of any Pokémon game up to that point was only able to get 3rd that year. >Through out every system, Pokémon games are given high reviews but are never among the absolute peak of the system
>2011 was a dry year for DS games >2013 was a competitive year for 3DS games
disproved here

I don’t really see you’re point about other game being much better and tougher competition.

shows that 2013 was a more competitive year. Zelda, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, DKC, and SMT are tougher competition than DSi Zelda, Kirby, and Dragon Quest. >If you're using system wide rankings (again coming from metacritic) you're completely ignores the point of showing score ranking among its era is to eliminate biases with the general fandom going through ups and downs of criticality towards game.
Lol no. Your first post
Gen 6 killed Pokemon.
was trying to imply that XY marked the downfall because it was only #3 compared to BW's #1 solely referencing its score against the games that were released in its year, nothing about criticism over the years.

That’s not really a difference in terms of competition
And no, the point of that image was just to show that Metacritic scores have little to no bearing on what they think the games are relative to one another. Using Metacritic scores to show how Metacritic scores are actually hekkin reliable isn’t exactly a rebuttal to this.

That's an absolutely massive difference in competition. Even trying to conflate the two Zeldas as equal like you did initially is completely out of touch
>And no, the point of that image was just to show that Metacritic scores have little to no bearing on what they think the games are relative to one another
Right. As we established BW is relatively better compared to weaker entries in the DS library, while XY is only seen as worse relative to the cream of the crop and most beloved 3DS games (both in and outside of Metacritic)
Anonymous
You only consider them better games because of Metacritic. For you, XY lost to them, therefore there’s higher competition, therefore justifying XY losing to them. You see how using Metacritic scores to show how Metacritic scores are reliable doesn’t make sense?
Anonymous
I consider them better games because they are generally considered to be high quality games amongst critics and fans alike. Metacritic is ultimately an average of all critic's opinions and a higher score reflects a level of quality to the game (some reviews can be paid off of course). I also value audience opinion highly, and when the opinions of critics and audiences align, I can recognize those as games that are of a higher quality.

By that standard, you define higher competition to a Pokemon game as any game that beat it. That’s extremely biased, just as it would be to say that the reason for SwSh’s failure on Metacritic is due to higher competition. After all, if it’s higher rated than SwSh, according to you that makes it a better competitor. I know it’s a more extreme example, but it’s my intended point.
Anonymous
>By that standard, you define higher competition to a Pokemon game as any game that beat it.
Yeah, I think that's pretty reasonable. If a lot of people think that something is better than something else, I would at least have to acknowledge it as a competitor (doesn't mean I have to like it) >That’s extremely biased, just as it would be to say that the reason for SwSh’s failure on Metacritic is due to higher competition.
There was a lot of competition on the Switch in 2019 with all of the ports to it. I personally wouldn't consider SwSh to be that low due to all the games that didn't actually originate on the Switch, but I don't think it's surprising that SwSh didn't meet people's expectations for a home console Pokémon experience and people regard a lot of other games as more worthwhile.

So every Pokemon game is the same because if anything beats it in ratings, that’s defined as competition. That’s a bit of a weird circular logic.
The only thing I fondly remember was how to get Sylveon was a genuine mystery and threads were full of theorycrafting. They got worse the more people realized how barebones the game was and how much was cut.
Personally i think they're far from the best pokemon games as the flaws are quite glaring. But at the same time i had probably the best time playing these. Does that make sense? It was such a magical time for me. XY are the most "feel good" games imo.

I got my Dad to buy it for me on release and played it all the time. I must have put at least 500 hours into it in total. Literally played it until the stick on my 3ds broke. I used to play multiplayer with a friend on the bus every day on the way to school too. But enough about Kid Icarus Uprising, this is supposed to be a pokemon board. I wish there was a good 3ds game you could talk about on this board, but sadly none of the 3ds entries in this series could fall under that category, let alone “best”.

Show me what I failed to pay attention to when I said this
The score ranking doesn't do that. It just serves as a to imply that certain games are better / worse because of other releases in that year. The method used in
shows what that actually means and that
>2011 was a dry year for DS games and a well regarded BW was able to get first place because most of the new games were on the 3DS
>2013 was a competitive year for 3DS games with #2 and #3 being released in that year, so even an XY that had the highest rating of any Pokémon game up to that point was only able to get 3rd that year.
>Through out every system, Pokémon games are given high reviews but are never among the absolute peak of the system
>2011 was a dry year for DS games
>2013 was a competitive year for 3DS games
disproved here
If you're using system wide rankings (again coming from metacritic) you're completely ignores the point of showing score ranking among its era is to eliminate biases with the general fandom going through ups and downs of criticality towards game.
shows that 2013 was a more competitive year.
Lol no. Your first post
was trying to imply that XY marked the downfall because it was only #3 compared to BW's #1 solely referencing its score against the games that were released in its year, nothing about criticism over the years.
You only consider them better games because of Metacritic. For you, XY lost to them, therefore there’s higher competition, therefore justifying XY losing to them. You see how using Metacritic scores to show how Metacritic scores are reliable doesn’t make sense?
>By that standard, you define higher competition to a Pokemon game as any game that beat it.
Yeah, I think that's pretty reasonable. If a lot of people think that something is better than something else, I would at least have to acknowledge it as a competitor (doesn't mean I have to like it)
>That’s extremely biased, just as it would be to say that the reason for SwSh’s failure on Metacritic is due to higher competition.
>XYgotes just jump shit instantly looking for "checkmate" moments at any cost
Based chad anon used future sight.
/vp/ was super hyped for XY because of all the leaks. Then it was released and the reception was meh.
Personally i think they're far from the best pokemon games as the flaws are quite glaring. But at the same time i had probably the best time playing these. Does that make sense? It was such a magical time for me. XY are the most "feel good" games imo.
I played 6 after 7 for some reason.
7 was underrated as frick.
6 was terrible. It was just bland.
But 5 was the best since 2 by far so it was even more of a let down. 5 had a lot of soul. 7 kinda did too.
6 felt a bit soulless.
>best
I got my Dad to buy it for me on release and played it all the time. I must have put at least 500 hours into it in total. Literally played it until the stick on my 3ds broke. I used to play multiplayer with a friend on the bus every day on the way to school too. But enough about Kid Icarus Uprising, this is supposed to be a pokemon board. I wish there was a good 3ds game you could talk about on this board, but sadly none of the 3ds entries in this series could fall under that category, let alone “best”.
Zoomers were a fricking mistake.
I think these were the last time I even looked at new Pokemon information. That deer actually looks kinda cool. But then I saw the rest of the mons and nope'd
