When people say that CRPGs are niche and have no successful future, they mean exactly the game like picrel.

I have a strange inkling that op thinks a crpg specifically refers to isometric turn based games
OP is an autist with some weird fixation on saying owlcat games have walls of text, he makes the exact same complaint in every thread and was outed earlier today because he does the same thing on the steam forums
>he does the same thing on the steam forums
lol really? please share
what inspires such autism?
They do though, they couldn't write their way out of a paper bag
Isn't that basically what they are though? Isometric/top down. And mostly turnbased now a days since nobody has developed a RT system that works well. I know the term is technically Computer Role Playing Game but crpg specifically refers to the top down story heavy games. Otherwise theyre just rpgs.
Also op is a moron I agree there
No. cRPGs are role playing videogames based on turntable rulesets. They're contrasted with pen and paper RPGs, you know, their turntable counterparts.
>turntable rulesets
why are you pretending thats a real term
idk what the other anon is babbling about, but cRPGs are based off of pen and paper RPGs like dungeons and dragon, they derive from that so yeah they are generally top down, since thats how dungeons were laid out often with board games. It has to do with having similar combat rules and stats and stuff though, and definitely requires more choices in what you do. but basically just needs to really derive from those systems.
no, a crpg is literally just a computer role playing game. the first crpg like wizardry and ultima had their own rule sets. games like fallout used the special system not gurps, and yes even games like diablo and arx fatalis are technically crpgs despite having the modern label of arpg attributed to them. combat mechanics and perspective do not define a crpg, the term was initially used to distinguish table top rpgs from computer or even console rpgs that later became labeled as jrpgs and wrpgs.
So? In 99% they are exactly like that
k cool
Yeah, other studious should follow BG3 expanle on how to make actually good, appealing CRPGs.
They have actually made almost every aspect of this game WORSE than the beta. How do you even do that?
>No one outside hardcore fans will play it
That's fine, carving up a niche and satisfying it is a perfectly respectable business practice, not everyone needs to become rockstar games.
What's worse is you're not even reading the original text but google translate
Abelard, give OP the FULL list of titles this time, to teach this unwashed peon how to read.
Abelard, take this man to the penis explosion chamber and have his penis exploded immediately
>No one outside hardcore fans will play it
finally, a game for me.
>niche menas no successful future
you can safely disregard anything brainlets like that say
This game has a gigantic amount of trash mobs. It even puts Pillars to shame.
yeah, it's great. especially on unfair
To the anon who was asking last thread about the best Psyker staff for Lightning, the best one I've found so far is the Charged Staff in act 1. After that I switched to mainly using Molten Beam to trigger Pain Channelling.
A soldier Psyker with Pyromancy and Telepathy will clear all of those in 1 turn on max difficulty.
>No one outside hardcore fans will play it
Good. this is how you successfully gatekeep your hobby. Those who are interested will get through it. the fly by troons are not welcome
>No one outside hardcore fans will play it
Thank god and holy shit, it even has the best cast of characters.
Ok but is it fun?
>Liked Wasteland 2/3

>PotR was a bit of a mess especially the war map
>Tyranny was ok
>Disliked PoE
>Liked BG3 a lot
Will I enjoy this game?
yeah probably
>Liked Wasteland
Yeah you'll probably like this.
You will enjoy it. However you won't lose anything if you wait for patches. Companion relationship triggers are broken atm, line of sight needs work and some talents (not to say many) are either not working or working incorrectly.
Was wasteland 3 good? Better than 2?
>Companion relationship triggers are broken atm
are there any confirmed examples of this other than cassia gaining affection too fast in act 1
I've not seen cassia getting humped yet, but in my coop game, friend (He's the RT) was romancing jae in the first dialogue he had with her on the ship.
I don't think he'll keep it, but it happened just like that.
Working as intended, and not because Jae is a bawd, but because that's how it works with Owlcat, you flirt and you start the romance
Cassia is the only bugged one
Cassia is the only companion that matters.
sure but triggering her first romance step early isn't really a big deal
If you care about character development, which I do, it is.
It borks the entire romance
How so?
It basically advances the romance too fast so you end up missing events in later acts
I mean like what specifically does it make you miss?
I'm asking to see if I can just trigger the bugged flags with Toybox.
That I don't know, I dropped the game until they patch it, and there are no guides or anything about romances yet
I liked it better than 2
it's not DnD/pathfinder so don't expect any of that shit. none of that translate to rogue trader. harder than wasteland 2/3. it can be pretty fricking hard if you don't know the game but there is journo modes (anything under Daring) the game has very likeable characters and space exploration is fun. the game isn't for everyone though. DnD 5e gays simply can't adjust.
Are the stats/system easy to understand at least? Pathfinder feels bloated in terms of how much it offers but it doesn’t have to be as streamlined as 5e. Shadowrun and Wasteland were fine with their own system. PoE felt like a mess though
It's DH, it's easy to understand.
Any rounding things like 5e stats where odd numbers are worthless and only the highest even number counts?
The only number that matters outside of skills is the stat number divided by 10 and rounded down, so odd numbers don't matter any more than even numbers do for anything except skill checks and defenses.
In most cases, 50-59 are all the same +5.
Once you figure out that stat buffs are the stat number divided by 10, yeah. 50 and 55 are pretty much the same.
Read the tooltips and it's straightforward.
>Liked Wasteland 2/3
my homie
>Was wasteland 3 good
Yes, I got it just to keep me busy until RT came out and I was pleasantly surprised
is it better than 2? i liked 2 but it became a little hard to care about what was going on after a while
>>Wall of text instead of more elegant writing and cutscenes
the writing is actually quite elegant, which is why it's so long.
Commissar or Noble for my RT Officer? the plan is just to sit in the back and buff
noble. commissars don't sit in the back
Commissar personally, but noble is still good too
BG3 has spoiled people
>see people talking about this
>look up screen grabs
>ugly as shit, 2012-era-WoW-tier graphics and interface
Who the frick pays for this?
It’s one thing to be intentionally low-budget but there isn’t a price floor for not being hideous.
CRPGs have a minimum IQ requirement that filters out graphicsgays
i too was born in 95 and only know BG3
>unironic graphic homosexualry
do you think someone with as little brain power as yourself would ever be able to even grasp playing real dungeons and dragons? are you able to imagine anything?
Sex with Jae
PoE was just knockoff D&D, but the emphasis was on pump that Accuracy up because it was the most important stat in the game
>higher acc upgrades 'glances'(more like MISS) to 'hits'
>higher acc also upgrades 'hits' to 'critical hits'
basically if you weren't boosting your thac0 then you were a fumbling shit
>combat is clunky
>bad music
>bad animations
>buggy
CRPG friends, I urge you not to buy/play it at this state yet, this is half baked af. Avoid at all costs.
>bad music
The entire OST is on YT do you really think you can get away with lying like this?
?si=IT3ImLDvo-UmuKRd&t=3705
>he thinks this remotely good
Shit taste detected, owlgay drone opinion discarded
They're that way because they tend to be more expansive than most other genres, and it's a lot of money to voice act and animate that much content.
Larian is able to do it literally because it has a CEO autistic enough to be willing to put the time, money, and resources to make his own ideal CRPG.
>Non-casuals won't touch it
Oh I see. Thanks for making it so clear.
On Janus and I'm wondering whether I should drop my Unfair run.
It's not the fact that I can have over 100 agility before accounting for any other dodge buffs and the average enemy will treat that as zero.
It's not that maxed out parry seems to have the same issue.
It's not that Marksmen seem to be complete shit unless you have heavy weapons.
It's that every single basic b***h skill check gets an inherent 20-30 difficulty boost on top of the original difficulty boost just to frustrate me. I mean for fricks sake, this is just petty.
wish there was a CRPG maker software using something like GURPS
i only tried it once and couldn't figure out how to talk to people, but i remember Arcanum had an online mode, and i'm pretty sure people used that to generate their own stories and maps and things
So if Cassia's romance is fricked, but I want to start a romance with my nun, does this mean I have to break up with Cassia so that I can continue with her questline? this is FRICKED
>I want to start a romance with my nun
Anon...
ramming is kinda buggy
sometimes the ship won't even be at the correct angle
crpgs are crap no matter the form
CRPGs are trash because only Fallout style CRPGs are good and barely any are made compared to Act-based Party-based slop like what Owlcat and Larian shit out.
