Mario RPG is a great game too. Very charming.
Mario RPG was my favorite RPG (mostly due to its simplicity -- not letting stats and minmaxing get in the way of just playing the game).
If you already played it, i sincerely i don't see the why you should buy it. Go for Mario Wonder.
Now, if you REALLY want to play it again, go for rpg only if you don't want to replay the original (which to this day it's still a great game).

Crank it up to 200cc and learn the fricking maps - it can get surprisingly competitive, especially with a kid. It's no CTR, but at least it looks and sounds good.

you can play a better version of super mario rpg for free, as remakes rarely ever surpass the original and often ruin facets of it. probably go with mario wonder.

Objectively the answer is Mario RPG because we've already played the original and know that it's great. Wonder looks great, but nobody's played it yet so nobody knows for sure.
Just look at the covers, nintendo made sure Mario RPG appeals to nobody so pick the one that actually looks fun
