I'm a photographer and I don't really get who would buy a game about photography in an age where everyone has some type of camera. The graphics aren't even that good.
I'm a photographer and I don't really get who would buy a game about photography in an age where everyone has some type of camera. The graphics aren't even that good.
>spend money and time traveling to location to take pictures
>play photo simulator in the comfort of you own room
hmm
OP here. Even when doing a grueling manual labour night job, I was doing photography. You know that once you have the camera it is free to go outside and takes photos right?
The real world is much deeper and more interesting than this game would ever be. Only a turbo autist who cannot physically leave the room or a cripple would like this game
>Who does this even appeal to?
>proceeds to answer who it would appeal to
You're not the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you?
Shut up homosexual, you know perfectly well that I was looking for an answer from a normal or able bodied person. But you're such a black ape monkey gorilla Black person you couldn't intuitively figure that out without me showing you in the most literal way.
You seem quite upset for being called out. Might I suggest you cool down by playing photography simulator?
I'm not that upset but maybe you're right anon, going outside is so cold and wet. My camera could get damaged or even stolen.
On a serious note, I would actually have been interested if the setting were changed to something like war photography simulator and there being some more depth to the game.
>could get damaged
SNOYS DON'T HAVE WEATHER SEALING AHAHAHHA
I use a canon
Right, I guess I understand now. Thanks.
You don't have to go to Congo to take photos
Try hitchhiking
A real camera costs $2k starting and anything below that won't let you do any photography. Point and click is not photography no matter how much your manual labour-damaged brain copes about it.
It is also the opposite of free to go after quality, interesting subjects.
You have no idea what you're talking about, both on the price of a camera that will let you take professional photos and going interesting places is free. Jesus Christ just leave your house, no one is forcing you go to take photos of dragons in Borneo before it's considered interesting.
I accept your concessions.
>wake up at 6am
>start work at 8am
>leave work at 7pm
>get home at 8pm
>in bed by 10pm
OH BOY LOOK AT ALL THE FREE TIME I HAVE TO WALK AROUND LIKE A TOOL TAKING PICTURES OF PIDGEONS
>start work at 8am
>leave at 7pm
???
yeah, not dealing with the nasty environment like swamp, mud, bugs, mosquito, etc... It sounds appealing to others.
>I'm a photographer
Get a real job and you'll understand.
Yup. That's the thing: the OP cannot fathom why people who work a terrible day-job would want to come home and relax in a nice looking virtual world, simply taking photos.
"I mean, come on, DOESN'T EVERYONE have the luxury to be a photographer like me?"
>photography
>luxury
lolwut
It's one of, if not the most common hobby in the world.
And yet the vast majority of people practicing it have no idea what makes a good photograph, curious.
>have normal job
>in free time go outside and take pictures with phone
its that simple moron
your free time is going to be like at 10pm once you get done with feeding yourself/your family.
seriously, you guys need to analyze your parents' lives first and then realize why the OP is fricking moronic.
>spend 3 hours in traffic because i must drive to work because ~~*they*~~ said so
>order dinner which takes another hour
>have to catch up on netflix so i can talk to people at work
>then time for sleep
You're right, there's never enough time.
Do americans fricking REALLY
Ok so let's imagine you are done at 10pm, you're going to sit down and play photography simulator? homosexual just admit this has no real appeal to anyone that isn't an autistic shut-in or a cripple. Unless you are Elon Musk you have enough free time to do some photography if you want to.
>Photography
>Luxury
Lmao I love watching NEETs discuss the ins and outs of jobs when they've never had one in their lives
So, you think OP's actually runs a business with his photography, and is actually needed constantly (for weddings/maternity photos, other social events etc.)? What about photoraphy for scientific or journalistic purposes?
The people who live off of just artistic photography are in the minority, anon, and they have a very luxurious, and lucky job compared to even other types of photographers.
Me being a photographer doesn't imply I am one professionally. If you spend one hour a week taking photos and maybe even editing them, you'd be a photographer.
Now replace photos with being a troony and photographer with woman.
Drones are pretty cool. Seems like a fun job
Just download Myrdalssandur or Kyoto, they're free and help with composition
Also I bought a fricking K1-II in the year of our lord 2021 and I have been regretting my moronic 3K purchase ever since
>list the same game but for free
>no replies
fricks sake
Trannies and sois for starters
thinking about buying a sont rx100 vii for the high fps meme bros
already have a nikon dslr and a fujifilm mirrorless
DON'T
I fell for the RX100 VII meme and its fricking dreadful
I mean if you already have a DSLR and a mirrorless there's literally no reason to get it, unless you're about to frick a cute photography girl and the possession of your RX100 is the thing that determines if the frick happens or not
Outside that situation don't
fug
i was mostly interested in the 960fps mode since i don't have the money to go out renting phantoms but if it's a shit camera i'll do more research into other options
thanks for the advice bro
i have one and its amazing
stopped taking my dlsr outside now
dont listen to the other moron
slap on a variable nd filter and its basically a perfect pocket camera
think the high burst mode you're talking about requires a 200mbp/s sd card and the buffer only lasts a few seconds though
Frick off moron, I had an RX100 VII and it was absolutely garbage.
MAYBE if you can get one for sub 300, MAYBE.
thank u for the advice also
i'll look into it more (and other options) before pulling the trigger since it's a decent chunk of change
>go outside and whip out your phone
>save $60
I mean yeah paying for this garbage is moronic but you're even more moronic if you think a phone """""sensor""" can compete with real cameras
Phone camera is better than no camera. I have an expensive camera and lens collection, but I respect people who are willing to just use whatever they have. I still use my phone camera from time to time because of convenience.
This, this is who it's made for
Why did she rant about penises in the last paragraph lmao
That is so pathetic. I'm a shut in, but even I can appreciate nature occasionally. Ain't nothing better than getting high, and cooking food over a fire in the middle of the woods.
took a real fricking turn right there at the end wtf lol
went from weird but okay to wtf is wrong with u
>seeing a penis in porn can be distressing
>watches porn
>somehow a penis is unexpected
???
>if I saw a HUMAN penis
furries
People like this were never supposed to get access to the internet.
People like that were never supposed to exist.
what industrial society does to mfs
the appeal of all these simulator games is simulating the task at hand without all the real life bullshit
Because you can chill in the Savannah and take pictures of lions from a kilometer away without needing thousands of dollars in travel, time off work, physical exertion, a $6000 Sony A7X and a $4500 telephoto lens
>paying $6k for an a7x
>paying only $4.5k for yr telephoto
scammed both ways
actually surprised that telephotos for the a7s are like $2k and not $10k monstrosities like some canon lenses
I have no idea. My brother's into these sim games, but I really don't get it. The closest thing to that game that I've enjoyed was Pokemon Snap.
Why do people use camera monitor/recorders? Do their cameras not have enough capability or bandwidth speed to do the features they advertise?
Apparently its because cameras can't output 4K videos longer than 10 minutes because of tax things I didn't understand
Maybe they gotta do photoshoots on their customers time. I worked for a company that recovered data and we had a few photographers get upset at their clients for not backing up their data and then asking for another copy or the photographer losing an entire days shoot, but that might just be contract work in general
Speaking as a non-professional (Hobby astrophotography as well as occasional photogrammetry work for money) I have a camera monitor because I find the in built display simply too fricking small to truly get a feel for how well focused the target is. That bigger screen made a world of difference for me.
Why does photography attract buttholes? I've met like 3 different people who were legit douchebags randomly started doing photography. I know I'm generalizing but If I meet anyone who is a self proclaimed photography I look the other way
Does it? It must be the city/suburb/country you're in, I've talked to other photographers and they're pretty nice.
>nophotos
That is not photography. That is "my name is cletus and I pointed my photo outside my window I'm a real purfessonel photografer now!1" moronation.
>nophotos
Does Ganker seriously not understand what a hobby is? You do it for fun?
You couldn't even manage to orient this one correctly. This could even be you accidentally hitting the shutter it's so boring
>this is the kind of "person" who calls himself a "photographer" here
Not a good look for your ilk.
Wow that one shitty photo. Just say you take photos for fun, because you certainly ain't no photographer.
Were you born that way or were you lobotomized?
If this is photography than every CCTV camera in america is creating art by the second
I really hope you're not OP, because this makes you look incredibly stupid, if so.
Not only do your photos reaffirm the negative stereotypes surrounding photographers, but they also just make you look like a stupid butthole, in general.
No offense, man. Have a good day.
I'm the OP, those are not my photos. And even though they're not good photos, I respect the guy for posting them and enjoying the hobby. You're a c**t btw.
I'm not OP, I was just posting random photos I took because frick it why not.
I have fun taking photos
>takes shitty pictures
>tilts 90 degrees
"I sure am a good photographer"
I never said I was good, I said I liked it
Horrendous if that's meant to be your "work".
If everyone you meet is a douchebag, the problem might be you.
>If everyone you meet is a douchebag,
Didn't say that.
>the problem might be you.
Nope. I'm a decent human being with actual morals. Not any of these pretentious photographic buttholes. 🙂
If you're a "good human being" you wouldn't announce that to the world Only buttholes say that.
>calls everyone you meet engaging in a hobby a pretentious butthole with no morals
>"why is everyone else mean to me"
>calls everyone you meet engaging in a hobby a pretentious butthole with no morals
>I didn't say everyone. Maybe learn how to read. Most of them, not EVERYONE. Sorry if I struct a nerve, buttholes.
That's not how you greentext and por segundo look here
You want an actual photography game play Umurangi Generations, the only Maori-sci-fi I know of
>what the frick is a maori
Indigenous New Zealanders
it does seem really lame. it seems like anyone with a real interest in photography could find something to practice on in real life. props to the devs though for coming up with such a scam game
please help me cope with the k1-ii
its not so bad r-right
read the blurb
>sim game
>upgrade gear
>sell photos to magazines
it's for people who want the minor dopamine hits of upgrading things and completing tasks, the photography aspect is secondary
I barely got money and I'm shut in. I can't even get into hiking because of lack of transportation.
Just do this in RDR2 with screenshots. It'll look 10x better
so buy RDR2 instead? This game is most likely going to be twenty bucks.
stupid shitty homosexual thread for OP to say over and over that he's le professional photographer! Nobody cares
What's with the photographer hate itt
You're all pathetic attention seeking homosexuals, displayed proudly by the homosexual OP. Anyone with money to buy a lens and a camera can squat, point it at something cool, and take a picture. You're NOTHING.
The pretentious of photographers and it being a pretty overrated. Almost anyone can be one, yet few can master it.
>op never said he was profesisonal
Black personbrain takes over and starts banging pots due to some deep seething hatred against photographers
it would be neat to make a game like this and then when you're about to take a picture of some homosexual ass bison or something bigfoot appears out of nowhere and rapes you almost to death
the rest of the game would be a horror game, where you're trying to find a park ranger or help while running from a sex-crazed bigfoot.
and once you find the ranger, bigfoots in his cabin and they both run a train on your homosexual photographer ass and you die. game over.
I'm probably going to get this game. I would probably fail massively if I tried to to take wildlife photos in real life.
Same as hunting games except this one is for vegans.
>Dead Rising
>Pokemon Snap
Photography in games is fun. These are the only two instances I know of, but they're great.
who else /canon/ here
Black person, this is a Fuji board.
Everything else is souless wedding photographer tier shit.
>Fuji
Jesus Christ did you just crawl out of your cryogenic pod? Get out of here, homosexual
are midwits ever going to stop making these dumb fricking threads about guitar hero, photo games, fishing games, sports games, hunting games, etc? its a video game, its not necessarily a substitute for the thing itself, nor is it meant to be. ITS A VIDEO GAME YOU DUMB FRICK
What the frick, are you moronic?
I am an amateur photographer and I love the process of taking photos but I am way too lazy to do full hikes in shit weather just to get a chance for a nice photo. Street photo is ok, but I prefer landscapes and a slower photo taking process.
So this game is awesome, as it lets me get a bit of enjoyment of photography, and practice composition and shit. While having a beer in my warm apartment.
Taking screenshots in any video game is a photography simulator. And I've gotten quite good at it. What is the point of this when half the AAA games nowadays even have photo modes?
The point is actually in
>slower photo taking process
On one hand, taking the time and effort to get the perfect shot. On the other, the chance to royally frick it up if you aren't skilled enough for it (by this I mean subject's gone, moment's wasted and you can't tell when the next one will be, etc.)
>Ganker cannot comprehend enjoying a hobby
What is this fricking board
As you can see, only the people who claim to be photographers (and then post
)
can't understand it. Ironic innit?
You obviously don't care about your "hobby" if you don't seek to constantly improve. Isn't that the point of a hobby? An artist doesn't just draw straight lines all day
>You obviously don't care about your "hobby" if you don't seek to constantly improve.
No that's called turning a hobby into a job, and it's a great way to not have any hobbies
You can be good at something without monetizing it, moron. And who the frick gets into a hobby and doesn't want to improve so that the hobby is more enjoyable? Yeah, go play tennis and never learn how to even hit the ball.
It depends on the hobby though, at least if you replace constantly with continuously.
For example. I fence. Getting better at fencing is an important part of the hobby.
So how do you get better if by not engaging with the hobby lmao?
You sound like a moron that doesn't comprehend getting good starts with being bad
That's not what I'm saying at all. Some hobbies (for example fencing) you engage in to get better. Some hobbies with a low skill ceiling (for example puzzles or some card games) you engage to relax, and becoming better at them isn't part of the draw.
A hobby you don't engage with isn't your hobby.
I don't have sex with women but I am still straight
Grow up. If everyone is shitting on you it not for nothing.
My guess is someone got pissy that the only decent "nature" walking sim was a hunting game, so they made a photography game as an alternative.
Are you moronic? It being made by company that makes all sorts of sims like aquariums, bums and painting figures. it not about getting back at call of the wild players.
I took one look at the picture and made a guess. I know nothing about the game or developer. Don't see how anything you said makes a difference to what I said.
I'll contribute a photo I've taken. Not necessarily because it is the best photo I have ever taken, but because it is the cutest.
Now that is photo.
Thanks, here is one of a stray kitten I found meowing as passersby.
nice animals
here's a daggie
Very nice dog. Looks a little like a Groenendaal but I don't think it's that, is it?
Hopefully it appeals to a niche audience who enjoys it. I wish more games did that.
To play around with all the controls on fancier expensive cameras
and you know to be able to go to all these exotic places
I'm an actual professional photographer who does weddings, events, and automotive photography with both digital and film cameras.
If this game doesn't let me shoot with dumb expensive shit like a Fuji 6x17 or a large format camera with hyper realistic exposure balancing which requires me to use an in-game light meter in a variety of real life equivalent locations all over the world then it's a shit and literally useless game.
If this game is just you taking photos with a digital camera and there is no variety or customization whatsoever, then it's an objectively shit "photography" game
>pic related
Me shooting some sand dunes a couple weeks ago on my medium format Fuji 6x9
You sound like a homosexual
You type like a homosexual and your shit's all moronic.
>weddings, events, and automotive photography
>"""photographer"""
only in so much that a burger flipper at mcdonalds is a chef, lmao.
I don't comprehend this shitpost, you aren't allowed to do your hobby and enjoy it unless you're getting paid?
I have no idea how this is what you got out of the OP.
I was asking who the target audience was here, since people who like photography would go and just do that. So far the only people who gave good responses to that question are:
I don't get paid for my photography, I don't even have an instagram or anything I post on. I do it for myself. People can draw too without needing a commission.
Well you homosexuals refuse to respond to my actual games about photography so this IS a shitpost thread
Women.
ayo fr fr if photography was bussin, which it aint, then xqc would be streaming it fr
OP here, another of my works. I really like how the lighting came out and I decided to go with a subtle dutch angle.
holy shit its the tony hawks underground 2 level
But I already have Gran Turismo 7
You take photos in a game.
I take photos in real life.
We are not the same.
Photochads, we WON.
But honestly, hopefully this game will include a decent in game economic system, possibly even a marketplace to buy and sell gear. At least last of the pleasure of photography as a hobby comes from geargayging.
I have no issue with simulators that simulate mundane things, but I have a hard time believing the graphics and variety in this game can be good enough to make the activity interesting. The Steam trailer certainly didn't convince me. But I understand it if the main point is to play with the camera technology and learn how different lenses and stuff work, rather than the environments being something really worthy of being photographed.
Was photo Kano a good simulator+ visual novel?
Haven't read the VN but the anime was dogshit
Has anyone played that? Are there any other gameplay elements other than taking photos? For example, can you die form falling a cliff or get bitten by a snake? Can you damage or lose equipment running away from a tiger? Do you get money/rewards that you use to explore further?
Sounds like a nice concept.
I can't speak for that simulator since it seems to be wildlife photography, but I have always had an interest in portrait work. I would love to go around taking photos of strangers, but I don't have the guts to ask (or not ask). Photo mode in video games has always let indulge this fantasy.
You don't really need to ask for street, just be nice, polite, don't be fricking bruce gilden, you'll be fine.
I worked for a portrait studio in high school.
Its mostly children's sports, school pictures, high school dances, and charity events.
You can do "photography" in any game that lets you turn the hud off
This just looks like an asset flip with a sterile world
Does this teach you about photography, how to beat use fancy camera features, and stuff?
I have a powerful PC, enjoy pushing the hardware, seeing what environments modern designers are capable of, the rendering, etc, and I feel like I could be good at photography if I knew more about it. So maybe it's targeted at people like me?
Hahahahaha How The Frick Is Photography Real Hahahaha homie Just Press F12 Like homie Press PrtSc Haha
You might be a teenager seeing a student project for the first time.
Even if its not a student project, its an addition to someones portfolio.
Even if the game someone makes is absolute piss, its something that'll have taught them something useful for later.
Everyone can make games and call it a finished product now, we have enough people alive now to know this and follow through.
in the end, isn't that one game more than you've made, anon?
