Only bard class I found interesting were the ones in Pillars, because the song aspect is more engaging and relevant and not just a generic buff you toggle.
>everyone fighting for their lives >instead of helping, just proceeds to play some tunes to offer the party a comfortable death >songs could either boost the parties morale or cause it to plummet based upon just the lyrics alone, therefore the faith of the party's sanity is in his hands.
ffxiv bard aesthetics are top tier. the class itself? just kind of a lackluster support archer. disappointing. but credit where it's due, the homie is stylish.
Sort of. I remember the utility being not as useful as having literally any other class, but I haven't played this game since zoomers were twinkles in their fathers' eye.
performance wise sure, i'm just talking about the feel of it. i don't personally enjoy the playstyle and i feel like it doesn't sell the bard fantasy very well. but i haven't played a bard since heavensward so who knows, maybe it's a lot more interesting these days.

FF14 has a horrible version of Bard.
The songs amount to little more than a normal fire and forget buff.
Would be more interesting if they functioned more like auras that linger and you could weave between at least.
That's basically every FF14 job at this point since the game has become a literal tasteless, personalitiless blob of throw and forget anything and everything, if things like AST are of any indication. Granted BRD was fricked from the start since they could not for the life of them design it properly even going from the copypasting of FFXI.
>you're WRONG for not liking XIV
You'd be less disliked if you could just accept the idea that XIV may have flaws and those flaws might outweight any positives for some people. No ones being contrarian or a boomer. XIV is just a product that has the capacity to be both liked and disliked. Not sure why that's so controversial around here.
I don't like XIV because it feels like a single player game and the story gets in the way of the game for me.
>Bards were introduced as the Jack-of-All-Trades class in early D&D for people who wanted to multi-class or do solo-play >This gave birth to things like Yuusha-style MCs, Red Mage and Sage in early JRPGs >D&D allows multi-classing, so Bards devolve into a support magic class who get the reputation of being bawds because Charisma is understood as just good looks by low IQ players >VRPGs follow suit
Which would you prefer: Traveling Hero or Singing Horny Man?
>Traveling Hero or Singing Horny Man?
If I'm RPing with friends, the answer is obvious. I've always felt Bard is the role for those who are comfortable with high levels of role play that don't mind a support role in combat. Wouldiwas Shookspeared is a better character than any generic fighter in the right hands.
I think EQ had a cool approach which was making bard essentially a music mage. Instead of just dipping his toes into shitty arcane spells he had a completely unique spell list and musical skills replaced the usual spell schools, divination, abjuration, etc, which meant bard was totally unique. Extremely mobile but his magic only persisted for a short amount of time after he stopped playing. Very unique and dynamic and of course, hasn't been repeated in any game since.
Etrian bards (troubadours at the most basic) are fun:
EO1 - gamebreaker tier for essentially infinite tp and hp regen, and practically permanent team str buff per battle in one cast
EO2 - passable with good utility, exceptional at nullifying afflictions and easily enables Revenge Hexer who's broken beyond belief in the game
EO1U - decent but I never played around with them much
EO2U - gamebreaker support whose buffs allow dps units to bypass the diminishing returns of all -technically- universal buffs in the game, which they can also stack to ridiculous degrees, up to the point of allowing 1 main dps to do enough damage to oneshot the superboss
*From a homosexual perspective
I’m pretty sure their perspective on the class wouldn’t be different. Don’t see what a sexual preference has to do with anything.
Don't pretend that you played a real bard my Black person friend. Check out Everquest.
is that from FF14?

yh, that class is pretty based alright
Dark Bards are an underused concept.
I respect the man who fricks his way out of a problem more than one who fights.
Seethe more, homosexual.
i don't think a pot should be calling a kettle black here gay.
I mean you’re getting this mad at what OP likes. I’ve seen gay people that are less of a homosexual than you. Seethe
nah you're triggered because i insulted your precious wowclone
kys xievecuck. go play your fotm monster hunter instead
>wow clone
Goddamn it…. You were actually doing decent so far….

But Bard itself is amazing for practically everything. The Endwalker buffs have put the job in an amazing position. It’s right along side dancer.
I refuse to believe we are at a point in the XIV meta where bards are anything but a waste of time
>great range DPS and party utility is a waste of time
Are you fricking with me?

bards are only good for me to take a breather between queues, the concerts are quite SOVLful tho
See xiv for homosexuals confirmed.
have you ever had fun, man

I don’t think he’s referring to criticism of the game, I think he’s just referring to the schizo that keeps spamming the thread.
XIEVE is shit because of a lot of things.
I like ff14. I think it’s pretty good, not great, and it’s okay if you don’t like it.
Well you're wrong. There's a time where I did like it but everything I loved about it has been ruined.
Fair enough. The gameplay isn’t for everyone, but the music is.
Uchikoshi Black folk really believe anything.
Yeah I played FFV

I choose wandering, well intentioned, but lying butthole who occasionaly throws some sick riffs
ELORE HELP US
>No but do more skillchains in my name
Remake time!
ELORE HELP US
>Okay but only if I get to pretend I am useless... and we do skillchains in my name
I wonder how it will evolve in this re-remake.
Why not both?
