Elden Ring isn't difficult. It's just moronic. If you want an actually difficult game, play Far Cry 5 on the hardest difficulty and try to survive the opening car chase that they never properly playtested.
rpgs got popular because D&D neckbeards wanted to experience ''fantasy books'' in a virtual reality rather than on paper
basically they exist as escapist power fantasies and nothing ruins power fantasies quicker than a challenge that makes you restart a battle or dungeon over and over and over until the player improves and doesn't just passively upgrade his character through levels or gear.
a huge reason why Western devs hate Souls games, and Fromsoft, is because they don't use all the typical rpg conventions of hand-holding, excessive exposition, quest markers everywhere, quest helpers everywhere, explicit instructions on where to go, piss easy combat where the game basically plays itself, and all manner of power fantasy tropes to make the player FEEL like he's le epic good gamer, when in fact he just grinded some shitty loot for 6 hours to progress to the next zone
>nothing ruins power fantasies quicker than a challenge that makes you restart a battle or dungeon over and over and over until the player improves and doesn't just passively upgrade his character through levels or gear
justify your claim
That's overhyping it.
TLR is not that complicated, it's just that most information is obscured from the player. Obviously this is not the case for the PC version because the data is laid bare by modern tools.
Try playing an old RPG like the original Wasteland without a manual, that's TLR.
Don't be too harsh on the jarpig weeb. TLR is the 1st complex game they've played in their entire waifu-pillow hugging life so it stand to reason why they praise that mediocre tactical game. As some anon said before, Dawn of War 2 is the more complex and in-depth TLR than TLR will ever be and that game is touted as dumbed down to chad western strategy gamer.
>watching zoomers argue over which zoomzoom title is the most high iq
Meanwhile more than half you fricks would get filtered by early-game copyprotection in older shit, because you wouldn't be able to figure out how to read the manual.
>watching zoomers argue over which zoomzoom title is the most high iq
Meanwhile more than half you fricks would get filtered by early-game copyprotection in older shit, because you wouldn't be able to figure out how to read the manual.
>To compare TLR and DoW2 takes advanced insanity
I don't see what's so insane about it. Both are squad-based tactical RPG game. It's just that TLR gives more option to customize your squad(union) but literally everything else about it are downright inferior compared to DoW2 especially the tactical combat part.
Black person Black person Black person
i would have said it either way
Nothing said in those tweets has anything to do with being easy or even combat at all. It's also all truth, with the caveat that most WRPGs have shit quest design nowadays as well.
Who gives a shit about quest design, almost all side quests in every game are literally designed to artificially extend the game’s runtime, at least the side content in Elden Ring was just neat little challenges you just happen to come across and not the same fetch quest or “follow this blood trail” you get in this homosexual’s piece of shit garbage Horizon games.
I bet this fricking homosexual hates Elden Ribg too for not having blatant effeminate men or trannies in it too.
>Quest design bad
Because no western style hand holding , tutorials and quest markers with explicit memory instructions? >Balance bad
It's bad when player has to get good instead of just having QTE and braindead combat like in western open world games!
Lol Soulsdrone detektei.
Funny how you ignore the other major issues because you know you have no rebuttal. >Le handholding
If i met an npc and i want to finish or met the NpC further you have few options: in modern games you get a marker where the npc is going to be or in oldschool games you have your journal where he is probably going to be. I elden ring you have nothing you must either find them through sheer luck, through autistic search or through a guide.
That is Bad game Design. >Le qte
Elden Ring is unbalanced in pvp and in pve. There are extremly op builds that make the game piss easy that were never fixed.
>Elden Ring bad because it has good and bad builds and the good builds make it easier
no shit, it's almost like it's an rpg. difference is you don't need builds you can progress fine with crap loot just get gud and learn to play >If i met an NPC and i want to finish or met the NpC further you have few options: in modern games you get a marker where the npc is going to be or in oldschool games you have your journal where he is probably going to be.
the markers seem like QoL changes but actually remove any thinking and seeking required which makes discovery & exploration in wrpgs so bland and unsatisfying, while discovering shit in cryptic From games is surprisingly satisfying
I'd rather have the cryptic system than the gay handholding system where it feels like the game is playing itself and the player is just along for a ride
>no shit, it's almost like it's an rpg >hurr durr it le rpg so boring and imbalanced gameplay that makes it babymode is OK
never ever listen to moronic soulsdrone when it comes to gameplay.
>the markers seem like QoL changes but actually remove any thinking and seeking required which makes discovery & exploration in wrpgs so bland and unsatisfying,
Play more game other than Skyrim and even then Skyrim have a frickload more interesting exploration compared to >hurr durr jump to secret ledge x100
of Souls gameplay
>>hurr durr it le rpg so boring and imbalanced gameplay that makes it babymode is OK
the amount of rpgs that have OP builds or allow you to get OP by grinding vastly outnumber the rpgs that don't. If Souls didn't have that shit most players wouldn't be able to beat it and they'd refuse to call it an rpg rather they'd say its more like Ninja Gaiden or DMC and pass it up
You're a gigantic dumbfrick.
Most ER quests give you a key item with a description of where that NPC might be going or what they're looking for.
That acts like the game's "quest log" and you can do the quests in any order, even in the mid to lategame, the only thing that breaks quests is burning the Erdtree and going to the very endgame.
Would love to hear any of the Elden Ring UX/UI detractors talk about COD MWII's UI. Worst I've used in any game in years, menus upon menus just to do something as simple as customize a gun, everything oriented horizontally so it takes forever to scroll
>squares squares squares >everywhere you look fricking squares
When did menu UI become some of the drabbest shit imaginable? Even Dragon's Dogma is guilty of this shit years prior, but at least it tried to blend in thematically with the world the devs created. Futuristic settings all have boxes that glow, they're really setting themselves apart with that design choice. Medieval games on the other hand are just fancy text, lists, and the most boring squares imaginable. All this coupled by the most boring backgrounds imaginable, like the developers are afraid any semblance of a pattern or something moving subtlety will trigger a player's autism so they'll just stare at it all day.
they do now
all japanese games are starting to pander to israelites with "body types" and pronouns instead of male/female, shoving Black folk and ugly everywhere, etc
in 2-5 years japanese games will be just as bad as western games
>terrible menus
no one cares about menus lmfao dumb devs >muh GRAPHICS
frick off zoomer >bad quest design because no handholding where are my QUEST MARKERS and detailed step-by-step instructions! What do you mean I have to read stuff and think?!

you suck at gaming, back to walking sims and movie games with u
>What do you mean I have to read stuff and think?!
Reading what "stuff" and thinking in what terms helps you understand what random place the npc has teleported this time?
it's another thing not related to gameplay or challenge, but instead related to presentation.
western devs are failed artists of some sort, writers, graphic designers, movie biz guys, etc. so its no wonder they obsess over superficial secondary issues, they make movie-walking-sim games, and encourage game journos to think about games ''as le ART'' rather than what they are meant to be
>my life is a lie
it is a lie. you were led to believe that UX is a thing. You were swindled by a charlatan to exploit you to code their skinner box.
now, will you take the red pill or the blue pill, game dev?
If you can't finish elden ring without cheats or coop, you're not a true gamer. This hobby has been diluted by shitheads that still shit their pants on a consistent basis.
What's bad about Elden Ring's user experience?
One of the things i love about Elden Ring is that there are these time saving streamlining elements like the ability to pick up items while on horseback. If it was a western game i would have to get off my horse, and have to hold one of the face buttons to make my character perform a 10 second long animation just to pick up a single item.

Far cry games are only mildly difficult and enjoyable on the hardest difficulty
High difficulty in games with hitscan weapons just end up being fricking boring waiting in cover and spamming grenades.
High difficulty in low level runs of Souls require player action, spacing, dodge skills and cunning.
>low level runs of Souls
This is a contended for easiest """challenge run"""
Maybe in DS1 where you can use OP as frick things and dab on endgame bosses in seconds.
In ER you get into one shot territory for most attacks as soon as you get to Lyndell, and if you use the shield physick, you get 2 shots.
This. I remember doing a SL1 DS1 run and shitting on the game with busted Pyromancies because they don't scale off anything.
>and try to survive the opening car chase that they never properly playtested
motherfrickers, I knew that chase was fricked
You always pick the easy difficulty
watching other people play it
meanwhile in jrpgs

UI and UX are garbage ever since poojeets all decided to copy Destiny 2 but Elden Ring is the same shit anyway.
i fail to see the problem with your pic. the only gripe i have is that you aren't shown your encumbrance percentage like in DS2 and 3

Because western players don't want to be challenged. If the masses are ignorant and dumb, they're easier to control.
Why are western troony devs so obsessed with ux? It feels like this obsession came out of nowhere.
The tech industry is incredibly bloated if you haven't noticed.

That's not true. Rainbow Six Siege was off to a pretty solid start, then it was like the game itself took HRT drugs.
