>the price is too high >even for applegays
jesus, the economy must be really bad for them to not throw money at this. they ether had to choose to eat or support apple
Yeah those are the reasons.
And the outcome of that are predictable memes who always follow this formula: >some dude imagining the perfect life >next frame is a loser sitting in a dark room with a vr goggles on
as this guy said its just not practical, you also have other problems such as how VR is a massive b***h to wear for long periods of time, the massive risk of running into something, and way way to few worthwhile games for it, it honestly needs another decade or two before it actually becomes mainstream
Nobody wants to wear an uncomfortable clunky headset for more than 2 hours.
done and dusted, vr will always be niche until these are addressed >b-but there's some cheap preowned headsets
no one wants to buy someone's sweaty old headset just like no one wants to buy used earbuds/headphones
>no one wants to buy someone's sweaty old headset
VR sets are barely ever used, and you can always just swap out the face plate. I buy used when possible, it's always way cheaper.
>VR sets are barely ever used, and you can always just swap out the face plate.
yeah, the point is most people don't want to deal with cleaning and replacing stuff
Cheating at billiards using AR. Using an overlaid trajectory to help you throw a ball so it bounces off two things to hit a target.
The main reason nothing cool is allowed is because it can all be weaponized.
Yeah, where the frick are the mecha games Japan?! Easy sell for me but all we got were shitty indie games and shallow attempts at making AAA “legit” for VR
>Japan
Japan has essentially zero interest in VR because they have nobody making VR headsets aside from Sony's abortion, and it's a waste of money and the few titles they've put out have done poorly because there's no userbase.
That and I'd say exclusivity deals kneecapping a growing market. There is no real reason why 80% of VR games should be exclusive to Facebook's platform.
The sooner you have a common and open standard the better, but VR instantly devolved into walled garden attempts before the technology even established itself.
>exclusivity deals kneecapping a growing market
this didn't just fracture the market and piss early adopters off, it also encouraged all VR games to be low quality mobile games. Just compare the quality of games pre and post Quest, it's like day and night. Such a tragedy what happened to VR
This, but also:
I'm extremely resistant to most forms of screen-related queasiness but VR hurts my eyes and makes me feel dizzy after not extremely long. I know I'm not alone in this. Even if it's more subtle in a lot of people than in me, they stop using it after a while perhaps subconsciously. VR as it currently exists is mechanically unpleasant to use.
The price could be free and people would still abandon it. It's 100% a content issue. Also a hardware issue (there STILL isn't a screen that looks good) but the content issue has more effect.
>looks at list of games that can get hacked in VR POV
yeah there's nothing being sold to me on the VR storefront so everything else that can be done with it isn't real.
reminder that a large portion of the Wii/3DS/Wii U's fanbase was softmodding the console
this
can't believe apple thought businessmen would actually put these bricks on their head during the work day
you have to be monumentally stupid to think that would happen
>2 hours
You're being generous here, I'd say that 5 minutes is the limit a normal person will feel comfortable with VR. After that the brain starts giving off all the unmistakable signals that say: "stay away from this shit".
the price is too high and the software isn't there

Why did VR die?
I mean it was clear for everyone from the start that this shit not gonna pop. It's just too damn expensive even for the gayBlack person apple fanboys.
The way they advertised it also didnt explain why an apple gayboy needs this shit. It also looks dumb, like a scuba mask or something, nothing close to an apple product.
They thought they invented a new iphone or some shit?
Then why are their laptops have higher resolution, brighter, microLED screens? Why are their laptops faster, lighter, and have significantly longer battery life than the competition?
There are no apple laptops that even claim to have a 24 battery life, and it's funny how your parameters shrank to 'nothing matters except battery life" immediately after being called out
They have 18-20 hours, still significantly longer than most laptops while outperforming them as well. All because Apple stopped sucking Intel's dick and made their own CPUs.
You also didn't mention how Apple still uses 16:10 and gives you microLED in 2024.

They have the longest battery lives unless you add on an external/secondary battery. >All of them or most?
Most. And the ones they do not outperform will be lucky to have 12 hours of battery life.
So you won't be specific about what competition you're referring to and you exaggerate the specs you use as an example of why apple laptops are better
Seems like you might be full of shit and can't be trusted anon
Macbooks have the objectively best battery life, performance efficiency. Very few laptops have the same screen quality either, and the ones that do only recently came out. Macbooks have had miniLED for years now.

Better than what competition specifically? You're saying there's not a single other laptop on the market that outperforms apple laptops? Bullshit
There's no other laptop that has 24 hour battery life, correct.

>5 years ahead
What? They are slightly ahead (1-2 years) because Apple is the only company that can afford the latest nodes from TSMC.
Once the rest of the world can afford those same nodes, they catch up to or even beat Apple. But at that point Apple switched to a newer and more expensive node, and the cycle repeats.
No one said they were a good value, but they're still 2024 laptops using 2024 processors. Everyone else is stuck with frakenstein's monster CPUs that are based on 70s tech.
>Everyone else is stuck with frakenstein's monster CPUs that are based on 70s tech.
That's like saying that every non-electric car is stuck with Frankenstein's monster engines that are based on 19th century tech.
Every single iphone iPad and macbook for the past 10 years has overheated when you use it for more than 10 mins doing anything outside of typing or listening to music.
What is the point of obsessing over build quality or battery when they make defective products?
>resolution
The 16-inch MacBook Pro is 3456x2234. That's fewer pixels than 4k (3840x2160), which any number of manufacturers make. You can easily find 120hz or greater refresh rate, as well. >faster
By what metric? Gaming? A Razer Blade in that price range will out benchmark a MacBook by a significant margin. >battery life
Oh no, I might have to plug my laptop into a charging brick 2 hours earlier than if I had a worse performing Apple.

NO FRICKING GAMES THE NUMBER ONE RULE FOR VIDEO GAME TECH

PS5 SUCKS BECAUSE IT HAS NO GAMES
NINTENDO STICH SUCKS DICK DUE TO A LACK OF GOOD GAMES
PC FRICKING SUCKS BECAUSE OF SHITTY OPTIMIZED GAMES
>NO FRICKING GAMES THE NUMBER ONE RULE FOR VIDEO GAME TECH
Insider here.
Apple don't want people to associate the vision pro to VR gaming headset.
They wanted the people to think that the Vision Pro is a device that create virtual space for users.
That's the problem with the product.
They are too detached from the user base, so their whole business plan is >There's too much competitions in the VR gaming headset market, so we will compete in this virtual work space market instead >According to the chart & statistics, there's so much potential to make huge money from this untapped market >And if we sell the product at 350% price, we will be making a 350% profits
instead of >Do people need this product? >Would people want this product?
>They wanted the people to think that the Vision Pro is a device that create virtual space for users.
So they expected developers to PAY over three grand for a dev kit that does not represent a final product. I have seen youtube channels with multiples of these devices and only used them for destruction videos so who ever was giving them to YT channels, bravo.
i don't own a switch but a lot of those games look good. i'm too lazy to emulate tho >PC FRICKING SUCKS BECAUSE OF SHITTY OPTIMIZED GAMES
this cracks me up. if the dev can't optimize then the game probably isn't that good either
headset too heavy now
performance isn't there yet
developers aren't there yet
It's not dead, just slow to get off the ground. It took 40 years between when the Wright Brothers first made the plane to get to the point of the Spruce Goose's first flight.
Wait if it's only marginally better than a Quest 3 does that mean it's worse than a Quest Pro for 2000 dollars more? i'm not really clear on the difference between 3 and pro.
VR got absorbed by Facebook who immediately soured the air of cooperation by poaching frickers left and right and using that knowledge to bolster their headset.
Then Facebook was used as a vector for stock market frickers to get hyped about being the next app store and it was all downhill from there.
With software being so invested in proprietary, closed source walled gardens we are essentially moving at the speed of hardware development, which is fricking glacial.
Open source software development isn't really doing too much better, with standalone headsets hoovering up most of the interest in getting an open source PCVR ecosystem functional.
>Apple VR
Apple VR was always a consoomer-Black-archetype marketing tool. They just needed to sell the image of the black consoomer buying expensive tech products, the device itself was ancillary and anyone who bought it was a side-benefit.
>Meta opened their OS to other manufacturers.
We don't need more proprietary phoneshit.
>Meta opened up their OS to other manufacturers
What's the difference to Windows Mixed Reality beside having it more restricted?
Also other manufacturers will want to earn with the hardware sales which will make them automatically more expensive than meta hardware.
No standard that they all adhere to.
As an example, I got a VR set that will be unusable in about a year or two since Microsoft is removing support for a feature that was necessary for the VR headset to work.
High cost of entry which results in a smaller base of potential customers meaning fewer games being developed for it. Not to mention adult PCVR users are probably higher on the tech literacy spectrum than most which means a higher percentage of that smaller user base will pirate stuff making it even less worth developing for VR as opposed to making a flat game anyone can play.
The near to medium future for VR gaming is flat-to-VR mods like UEVR or official VR modes for flat games like what flat2VR is being commissioned for now.
Motion controls are a gimmick, even in VR. It's fun, it's immersive, it's a pain in the ass to set up, requires more space than most people have, and is a bit tiring for longer sessions. No one's standing up for a full skyrimVR playthrough without once deciding to just play seated with their height level modified in-software
Biggest problems VR had before the vision pro was the price tag and the lack of content, and apple bewilderingly seemed to actively double down on both problems, making a headset that was both more expensive and had less content by design because they didn't want iBlack folk to associate it with gaming which would hurt apples image as a status symbol
>expensive as frick gimmick gear that lacks real world applications beyond "oooo floating keyboard" and glorified tech demos >average consoomer struggling to make rent/buy food
Even your typical Apple whales are feeling the pinch. I've only seen tech tubers and fad chasers using these things, and they're still returning them.
americans place more value on their car and phone than having a place to call home. That's why your children will live in cardboard squares and you will be happy
>pretending a $500-1000 dollar phone or a $5000-30000 car is the same deal as a fricking 750k house
Average Joe is literally priced out of property in a current year, you don't even dream about it at this point after Blackrock stepped into housing market.
People can buy this brick if they want to, the economy has nothing to do with putting yourself further into debt
Lets not pretend that people who still upgrade their phone every year are financially savvy
>Asus just announced a new high performance gaming focused headset >Microsoft working on an Xbox version of the Quest
VRChads... we're finally coming home...
>Asus kowtows and adopts Meta's OS
No way I'm buying a third party headset only to have Meta pull another WMR or completely sanitise/enshittify the platform once they've amassed enough users.
The Quest and Microsoft's shenanigans killed the market for quality mid-range headsets. You buy a quest or you go enthusiast tier. You're never getting the likes of a $300 HP Reverb again. It's a new Valve headset or bust for me.
>mandatory battery brick nonpictured for two to two and a half hours at best of battery life watching youtube >same battery life as a Quest WITHOUT a battery strap playing actual games
lmao, god what a fricking scam
>passthrough >mixed reality >wowie zowie I can play virtual pingpong in my real life bedroom instead of literally anywhere real or fantasy I could imagine I'm so glad so much time was spent on this feature in totally going to use more than twice
They really needed to tailor it more towards workers. There's no way to present MR as anything other than a way to harvest your data to continue building profit. If this thing had a microscope built into it, then we'd be talking.
It's not really for games. I watched Marques Brownlee's review of it, and it looks like I could use it the same way I use my phone while cooking or doing some other things. If it was smaller, cheaper, and had a vider app range, then I'd be really interested in one of those things. Basically, I'm waiting for the Android knock off.
Honestly I think google glass was a good idea that just came ahead of its time. No doubt with the tech they had then it would have been shit but as a concept I think it's a good one. I already wear glasses at all times anyway so if there was a device I could clip onto them that gave me access to AR apps running from my phone or whatever id be all over it and not give a frick what twitter memes have to say about it
This is basically the point at which I could see mixed/augmented reality becoming a real mainstream thing.
When it's small enough that you're wearing something closer to sunglasses or at most ski goggles than a blocky headset.
No one wants to look like a fricking goober walking around wearing these big, clunky AR headsets, they need to make it sleeker and more compact.
Barely any games that justify the price, i can think of 2 tops.
Honestly the only one that could revive the VR scene is Nintendo.
Apple already went full moron.
I think they did actually slash the price of the Quest 2 though, but that's probably just clearing stock for the new entry level model, I think it's gonna be like a 3 lite or something.
uncomfortable, expensive, and no games
make it just a pair of glasses that you put on and that doesn't cost as much as an entire console, and maybe i'll give it another shot
Tbf I actually liked the 3D on the 3DS, especially the new 3DS. I didn't ever turn it off like most people seem to say they did. But im imagining games were held back graphically by having to keep in mind that everything would be rendered twice and that probably wasn't worth it
3DS still had a sweetspot for the 3D to work right and adjust it with the slider. And it was hard on your eyes after a while. In VR the 3D just works but the HMD is uncomfortable after a while. Just wait until everything is injected to your optic nerve.
Friend has one of these. I like how they can link up with a computer to serve as a screen, but according to him the infrastructure isn't there yet and the battery life is garbage.
It was forced. Not enough people want it or use technology the same way as the people that do. The idea of every gamer logging into some virtual hub to meet up like Ready Player One or Summer Wars was a pipe dream.
if they werent israeli and based vision os off of mac os instead of iPad os then it would be slightly better, because then you might be able to do fricking anything without needing to rely on connecting to a macbook with the SAME processor. unfortunately apple hates freedom
You don't need a Facebook account anymore. Now you make a Meta account, link it, and then can run off and play whatever without having to think about that shit again.
Ah nice. I thought they were the same thing. Does the Quest 3 allow sideloading + have an active dev community? wondering if anyone has figured how to get a custom OS on it or pirate stuff. I remember I loved fricking around on Pavlov on the Quest 1
Yeah, and it's honestly the easiest form of fricking vidya piracy I've encountered since you use Rookie Sideloader, and it'll download games, update them, and install them for you. https://wiki.vrpirates.club/en/general_information/getting-started
Making the Dev account takes 15-20min at most and was pretty painless from what I recall when I did it back in Dec.
You don't need a Facebook account anymore. Now you make a Meta account, link it, and then can run off and play whatever without having to think about that shit again.
>you don't need a facebook account >make an account that is facebook with a different name
You don't need a Facebook account anymore. Now you make a Meta account, link it, and then can run off and play whatever without having to think about that shit again.
like the other anons said, you don't need to have a facebook account and piracy is easy as frick
that being said, mine has been sitting out in the closet since January. I just can't be fricked to wear a headset tbdesu
brain implants wen?
I love VR, just finished a session of Into the Radious and it was very enjoyable. But i have to admit the biggest drawback VR has right now is that the technology is still at PS3 level tops. Until it catches up with current gen, it wont make the jump to mainstream.
Unsure whether to get a quest 3 which would likely not be for a few months from now anyway, or wait longer for a 4 or whatever else comes along at a similar price
I was thinking of getting a valve index but then I realized it's 5 years old and still isn't on any sort of discount. Yeah frick that, either drop the price or release index 2.
>what would be going through your head for those final hours >ahhh I'm le based caver enjoying another day of caving haha it's so cool, well time to die now but at least I'm enjoying the thrill of chill caving
I've seen some videos on youtube about morons dying like this and there are still people in the comments saying NAH IT'S OK I LOVE SPELUNKING IT'S CALM AND NOT DANGEROUS AND IT'S COOL HOW IS IT MORE DANGEROUS THAN EXTREME SPORTS FOR EXAMPLE HAHA?
how did apple ever think the vision pro would be anything but a flop?
how did it not occur to them during the extensive R&D process that this thing is fricking useless beyond the initial novelty?
Upper management types who have never used VR and who's entire job is doing meetings thought it sounded like a fun way to have meetings. They'd be the same people who were getting all riled up about zuckernut's metaverse talk.
So I'm betting there were a bunch of suits at apple pushing for it thinking it would unironically be used for productivity in the office and they wanted apple's stamp on it instead of meta's
Corporations went full moron with metaverse hype and hyperfocused on making VR conference rooms, shopping malls and other shit you can go to in real life but in VR, and completely neglected making actual VR entertainment.
>Augmented reality should have been the way to go
Wrong.
Can you imagine rich people playing AR in their big ass mansion, and us poorgays can only play limited AR in our tiny apartment room?
Augmented reality is moronic for gaming, it's insanely limiting with no benefits. It would only be good for something like what google glass was meant to be, a device as small as possible that gives you a HUD.
Everything is flopping simply because of one reason. The economy has turned to shit and people cant afford having fun with spending money on things anymore.
>The economy has turned to shit and people cant afford having fun with spending money on things anymore.
gee I wonder why. Could it be because of politized lock downs that they knew wouldnt work and but they did it anyway? Who knew shutting down a global economy and holding restrictions for literally YEARS would ruin the economy
We're essentially a house of cards right now, and the past four years alone will take decades to recover, if we even do at all.
And we didnt even find the origin of covid, they lied about the wet market bat soup but conveniently ignored the level 4 bio lab in Wuhan, China.

>expensive entry point >is a toy you can only use for an hour or two before it hurts your face >is slightly worse/more annoying than just a screen in basically every way except for the obvious Virtual reality benefit.
people with glasses are always taking them off for relief, and glasses weigh frick all.
VR wont take off until it fits inside glasses, and interacting with it is more ergonomic than buttons/touchscreen.
ar ain't vr. also AR is kinda cool. apple shit is just moronic. there are cheaper, sleeker AR glasses out there that you can do more with and they just look like some slightly bulky sunglasses not that abomination of a headset
The problem with neutering your tech completely to make it consumer facing is nobody will bother to make anything really interesting with it.
The whole sensor ecosystem around shitty AR is crazy but real time 3d environment mapping is way more useful and interesting as a standalone thing to make hobby robots and such than as an integrated feature on a consumer product that's only a platform for a few premade products.
It's obscenely expensive and for what? The support isn't there. It's especially moronic for apple to be getting into it, all their homosexual audience care about is appearance and current vr headsets make you look stupid.
It's just reddit tier disinfo, a preplanned response by sheep
other examples: >nickleback sucks >you like pineapple on pizza whats wrong with you >I listen to everything but rap and country they're terrible >69 HAHA and 420 DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and so on
I do not know if you are pulling my leg but I always thought people hated Nickleback for no good reason in a generation that saw the rise of shit like Reggaetón and Dubstep.
Pretty sure Country made a comeback in part thanks to Fallout and also many artists switching to Christian Country recently.
>I do not know if you are pulling my leg but I always thought people hated Nickleback for no good reason
That's my point, people just go off of a script and say things they dont even mean. They only say it because they hear others say it a bunch, it's genuinely moronic.
He's describing basic mass media conditioning. A huge issue that's existed since radio and resulted in conditions that allowed the world wars among other horrors.
There was ONE good innovation in VR. Lighthouse tech is legitimately cool, I can track objects in 3D space in my room with fairly high accuracy (for excruciating prices). But nobody else wanted to pay the HTC/Valve premiums, so now the entire market is a fricking wasteland of garbage inside out junk with poor precision but it doesn't matter because you're wearing a headset anyway so how would you notice your virtual arm is an inch away from your real one?
Honestly I hate pov porn in VR, which sucks because that's what 90% of it is. I look down and go 'thats not my dick, that's not my body' and then it just feels gay. I end up going for female solo or lesbian stuff which is an even smaller fraction of the remaining 10% of non-pov content which they lump together in a voyeur category. Straight porn as a voyeur in VR is just straight up cuck porn
Yes very clever thank you but I'm describing the lack of dissonance you experience while in VR which makes it harder to not to consciously feel that way
VR sims
that's the true killer app here. racing and flying in VR is absolutely amazing
but unfortuntely, it adds even more to the price. you not only need a very beefy pc (7800x3d and 4090 is still not enough), you also need to spend even more for a simrig (like, easily $3k to do both racing and flight properly)
THere is no killer app that is going to get people to wear a clunky eye visor for longer than the novelty the price dmands of you.
People will go to moniotrs first.
anon, i have a triple 32/1440p setup on my rig and a pimax crystal (formerly a g2 reverb). i never use the triples. the headset is much better for racing. granted, if i had to do an 8 hour endurance race or something, i'd think about switching to the triples. but for any reasonable length of time, i'll stick with the headset, thank you very much. the immersion is amazing, the graphics are GudEnuf™ nowadays, and depth perception is pretty great for racing.
if you doubt my word, by all means, mosey on over to r/simracing and/or r/iracing and search for VR, you'll see tonnes of people sharing those opinions.
>nvidia and radeon slowing down intentionally
Moore's law stopped applying almost 20 years ago. Why do you think we switched to multi core processing? It's not because it was faster, it's because the chips couldn't physically get any faster so we just started stacking them side by side.
This. Current VR is entirely incorrect from what people perceive VR should be. People essentially want an interactive lucid dream machine, not a TV strapped to their head. Is an interactive lucid dream machine possible? Frick if I know. That's what people want, though.
HL Alyx was the only good game. Most other games were shovelware. And all VR competitors decided to try and make their shit exclusive instead of working together on compatability and making good games with their hardware competitors.
I think VR will always be a niche. At most I can see AR tech becoming more standard in some fields of work but even then it seems like it'd be more cumbersome than just a computer or a smartphone. New technology has caught on for ease of use, VR is the opposite.
Games wise, I haven't seen much to make it worthwhile. Most come across as tech demos but even something like Alyx still feels like it's so desperately trying to sell people on VR that several design decisions suffer to accommodate it.
This is why it's dying for companies like apple they are releasing obsolete products to sell you another one next year , why buy now when the true 1.0 version will likely be 2026 - 7
>Combining these two factors (the higher price point of the Quest 3 and continued strength of the Quest 2), it should come as no surprise that Meta Reality Labs just reported record-breaking quarterly revenue of $1.07 billion – a new high-water mark for the division.
Just google "how many oculus 3 sold" for proof. You don't make a billion in sales on something dying.
While I absolutely agree 100% with everyone on the limited game library, the new Unreal injector engine will save the format. And once the VR market is flooded with a ton of FREE new IP to play, VR will become more mainstream.
One thing I will say is that manufactures have GOT to figure out how to make the headsets more light and comfortable. Nothing but the displays should be on the front faceplate (see BigScreen Beyond).
>You don't make a billion in sales on something dying.
You do when you're selling something way less than the R&D costs because you want to corner the market. Like most consoles, what matters is software adoption rates, and Facebook isn't publishing those.
>the new Unreal injector engine will save the format
Absolute delusion. There's this idea that once it's a bit "easier" then suddenly devs will spring up out of the woodwork to polish all these mods and make the games playable. They won't. A couple of big titles will get the same shitty level of VR patch they always have, and nobody with a brain will be interested to begin with because they can just play that game on a regular monitor and not have to deal with mod jank.
VR tools have been accessible for YEARS. Buddy, you can't even do basic shit anymore. Want to change the position of a controller in VR because you're holding it another way? Well, first you need OpenVR Input Emulator, which hasn't been updated in years, then you need a patch to get the offsets PARTIALLY working (some options will still crash SteamVR outright, others just don't work at all), and then you have to apply the profile every time you start the program. Why is this such a hassle? Because VR is dead, and nobody cares about it.
~~*metaverse*~~ rightfully flopped
VR should remain only for shut-in neets like me, not for homosexual normies.
I love that 360 images spheres, it's amazing, also the porn is great, but it's still just porn.
hmmm maybe i mean I like premade scenes/content not just assets
From my brief experience with vam MOST stuff felt do it yourself(like koikatsu studio).
I could be completely wrong though
there are a lot of premade scenes for just about every scenario you'd want. it can be very difficult if you want to make your custom characters due to the amount of morphs and textures available but if you want character models ripped straight from the game they're from you're golden. the UI looks daunting but it's not that hard once you figure out the basics/important ones.
there's really not much to import or do in 95% of cases unless you're making your own scene. you only really have to setup the session plugins/ plugins of your choice once or twice. after that loading the scene is pretty straight forward as is loading a character for the scene
discord and the vam hub https://hub.virtamate.com/resources/categories/free.4/ but it's going to be a b***h if you go that route especially if you're starting off fresh since you'd have to do it one by one. I would strongly suggest getting a pack from a creator over at f95.

like official discord? or is there one where "pirated" content is discussed
1 week ago

it's the nooc(no original character) discord if you're after video game character. the vam piracy discords are practically dead with only a handful of people posting. f95 is unironically the best way to go for pirated stuff or kemono if they fix their issues.

>or kemono if they fix their issues.
didn't they basically leave the original site to rot while they now have a sekrit club version you'll never get into unless you're somebody to the dev (or pay him)

if you mean kemono.party they switched to .su . it only really started crapping out about a week ago and iirc they're trying to find a new server. anyway f95 is still far superior for vam leaks in 8/10 cases.

From what I heard the existing kemono would be maintenance mode'd while the owner created a secret version you need to be in the inner circle or a paypiggy to get access to that would still be getting updated importers and exclusive shares
My work bought 2 and I took one home to test
It just doesn't seem to have a purpose. I ended my night watching lovander having sex on my ceiling but any other vr headset is probably better for porn
Idiotic concentration on "VR experiences" instead of trying to have games with decently functional VR modes on top of the regular, flat display.
My most played VR games are Subnautica, Doom 3, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Elite: Dangerous, all regular games with well functioning VR implementation on top of it. (excluding Elite, which worked OK until the devs decided shooting themselves in the foot was for schoolgirls and shot itself in the head instead.)
I didn't get VR to play two-bit carnival games, I did it to get more out of games in general and that's what they are stubbornly refusing to give to the audience.
You can use,
1) Link Cable for wired play
2) Airlink (built in, free) for wireless play
3) Virtual Desktop Streamer (app store paid app, but really good) for wireless play
4) ALVR (github, open source and free) for wireless play.
>all I ever wanted from VR was just an alternative to your monitor, just put on the goggles and you can change your perspective around in games >it's all just wagglan gimmicks
The wagglan gimmicks failed for a reason. Beat Saber and FPS' where you teleport on certain points just don't cut it and neither do porn games.
>all I ever wanted from VR was just an alternative to your monitor,
Resolutions are nowhere near high enough for this. Can you not do basic math? To match a couple of 1080p screens at desktop distance, you would need 8k per eye, or roughly 16k throughput resolution. 8k is a fantasy for the next 5-10 years, 4k is barely achievable right now, and you want 16k? Bear in mind each step up requires 4x the performance, so 4k is 4x more demanding than 1080p, and 16k is SIXTY FOUR times more demanding than 1080p.
All they could sell people on is wagglan gimmicks. Screen resolutions just aren't there.
>Can you not do basic math?
I don't want to. I represent the stupid consumer base and, as such, I just want a product and it's their job to find a solution to provide said product. Or not, in this case. Still doesn't change the fact that the wagglan gimmicks failed before and failed now and everyone who banked on them got fricked. Back to the drawing board for them.
my dad was working on the piece of shit apple vr thing and he said the were going through development hell. they didnt have a demo at a some event and that was when the project went to the chopping block.
i swear to god I never thought i'd be one of those people saying the "my dad works here..." but for once in my fricking life its true, kek
The thing is, nobody is impressed that your dad works for apple. It was cool having some guy who worked at Psygnosis dating my aunt back in the 90s, I got some free games.
There's units going at sub 200 euros.
Absolutely worth it. My first VR headset was pico 4 and zero regrets. Great comfort, good lenses and panels.
You'll want the AMVR Facial interface (30e) as an accessory and that's it.
Oh yeah pretty obvious but while it's a standalone headset the standalone games on it suck major ass.
If you do not have a good PC then bite the bullet and get quest 3.
>Why did VR die?
I'd like to bash your heads in, Black person homosexuals. I've been saying that VR is a dead technology since about 2016, when it became pretty obvious (to me, but not to you homosexuals) that the technology was TOO expensive and there will be NO games for it.
I fricking struggled to convey this simple thought to homosexual Black folk like you, but you were always stupid and kept repeating NOOO YOU JUST WAIT NOOO DUDE THERE WILL BE COOL GAMES AND IT WILL BE MASS PRODUCED AND CHEAP
WHERE ARE YOUR CHEAP VR SETS AND GOOD GAMES YOU wienerSUCKING Black person homosexualS? HUH?
WHERE IS YOUR RISE OF VR TECHNOLOGY? IT'S BEEN 10 YEARS, Black folk, HELLO?
I was right. And you were wrong. Frick you, homosexuals.

You are a LYING dishonest wienersucking Black person. Who the frick wants to buy literal Black person toys of SHIT quality that are VR sets that cost so little? The real VR sets cost around $1000 like Valve Index and I personally don't even consider Black person toys that cost less because they are SHIT.
When I built my $3000 PC, I knew it would be good for A LOT of applications. And what is a $1000 VR set good for? Two fricking games? I just bought a $350 knife in CS2 and it's a much better fricking investment than a fricking useless VR set. Frick off, Black person

JUST LIKE EVERY SINGLE VR SET OUT THERE
I'm glad you agree with me
Besides, spending even $100 on hardware to play two games is too much for me. There are just NO games for VR. What are good games for it? Boneworks and HL Alyx?
This is why VR is dead and will always be dead. It has no use. That is my point.
>Besides, spending even $100 on hardware to play two games is too much for me.
lol you actual kid
I'm starting to doubt you even have a $3000 PC at all.

I can play Assetto Corsa all day in my 1k sim rig. Nothing in VR is worth playing for more than 30 minutes, once in a blue moon. And no, it's shit for sims, awful resolution and head tracking is inferior to triples.

People buy both. You're poor and had to make a choice, you chose the gym and so to feel better the thing you didn't buy is the gimmick

waving your hands in the air like you just dont care? fun
waving your hands in the air like you just dont care?

>WHERE ARE YOUR CHEAP VR SETS
they cost as much as a console, children have them because it's novel enough that you'll know if they have it or not so they'll get it as a present instead of an Xbox because they already have one of those, right?
It's not dead, it's just not that popular yet. It's a new technology that's still far from being perfected. Apple put waaaaay too much money on this, as if whoever signed off on the decision wasn't made aware of exactly how niche the VR market actually is at the moment. This was never going to be the next iPhone, the populace at large isn't going to be walking around with a $3500 headset.
there's literally a section specifically for VAM and there are creators that specifically specialize in porting game characters so they're usually the most popular. they have torrent packs from almost all of the actually relevant ones.
I really don't get the appeal of VAM. It's just an overly complicated animation viewer/physics sandbox and the webms always make look a thousand times better than it actually feels to play. I've gotten more enjoyment from just loading up Skyrim VR with a modified children of Skyrim mod and this:
>It's just an overly complicated animation viewer/physics sandbox
because it is. but there's literally nothing on par with it if you want to see tifa in 3d giving you a lapdance or 2b getting assfricked by goblins in vr. koikatsu is weebshit and honeyselect 2 is extremely limited.
Koikatsu is fun to mess around with for a few minutes but the VR controls are the absolute worst. I just wish someone would realize the potential of making a highschool sim style VR h-game except not shit.
>the potential of making a highschool sim style VR h-game except not shit.
There isn't any. There are barely any 3D games to begin with, why cripple your audience more?
I suppose you could make one with a few guys anonymously and use ai for vices and shit, oh well, nobody wants to risk prison for ~~*fake cp*~~
It didn't. Ganker just tells itself it did becase they are either
A) self conscious pussies and afraid to put on a headset
B) Poor
C) Bitter that the coolest thing to happen to games in recent years is mostly a social experience
I get what you mean but what you dont get is how incredibly niche of a market that actually is. Yes you see people posting shit like that in the circles you're in, but that's just a bubble you're in.
VAM has a bunch of plugins that do the heavy lifting for you.
I installed some titty mods for skyrim vr with all the working physics and all. Played a bit, got really fricking horny seeing my follower with jiggling breasts around.
Booted up VAM, loaded the skyrim home scene, loaded appearance setting for the girl and had her doing lapdance and riding me cowgirl. You can sync it with the handy as well with some other plugin so you feel every thrusts.
The effort needed to do all that was pretty minimal and while I'm not gonna say there's no learning curve, it's better than fricking around with skyrim modlist and scouring loverslab and other shit site just to get a quick wank off.
I don't. I get mostly 60fps at 2700x2700 on a 4080. If I want steady frames then I drop to 90hz and force motion reprojection on but then you deal with the movement stutters
price of entry, no games, every existing "good" game is an early access tech demo, need a pc AND vVR headset to have not shit VR (i've used the quest 2. stop that.)
its already mainstream thats not the problem it needs to be good(er) on average, without needing a pc too. >impossible currently
so get fricking fabricating with your BILLION dollar factories then nvidia.
It didn't. Ganker just tells itself it did becase they are either
A) self conscious pussies and afraid to put on a headset

>Bitter that the coolest thing to happen to games in recent years is mostly a social experience
why would you need to put on a stupid headset to socialise, why not just socialise in person
Gee I dunno, homosexual. Because you can't easily socialize with people overseas in person? Because there are more activities to do in VR than IRL? Because you can do it anytime with the greatest of ease?
>why would you need to put on a stupid headset to socialise, why not just socialise in person
Why would you need to sit at a computer and go onto Ganker to socialize, why not just socialize in person
I got the impression that the Vision Pro was intended for industrial or business purpose.
Did they really expect the average apple Dick & Joe to buy that thing? Putting aside it being overpriced, "mixed reality" is like the opposite of what people want out of VR. I don't want to mix real life and digital, I want to tell real life to frick off for a bit so I can exist solely in a digital world for a little while.
VR developers are all morons that think "being VR" automatically makes it a billion jillion times better than every videogame ever released
Got Clowned on by Alyx, and then proceded to make nothing of Value.
The irony being the closest thing being close to worth playing being ports of actual games to VR.
Also everyone doing XR desktop stuff being moronic and doing it windows only.
Price too high
No games or software
People are moronic and hurt themselves too much
People outside of the US don't have the space required in their house to play with VR

also I am beyond tired of EVERY streamer who does dark souls ring borne content in blade and sorcery admitting "i've never played these games before lol" so you're telling me not one of the 12 million+ people who played at least elden ring out of the souls series have a fricking vr headset?
whats the point of porting basically the whole of dark souls 1 into the game if no one is going to flesh it out because the communities don't overlap?? whats the fricking point of any of this I guess is my point. this isn't for gamers its for facebook trying to make more money.
>not one of the 12 million+ people who played at least elden ring out of the souls series have a fricking vr headset?
yes
what do you think "niche" means???
The only people playing VR are under 18yo kids on the quest. Out of the dozen friend I have who were raised on PC gaming and are all over 30, none of them got headsets except me.
Mainly because it was considered risky to invest 1k$ into something you didn't know if you'd like.
It's niche and it won't get anywhere until those kids raised up on VR start doing game dev, which could take 5 to 10 years.
Oh I'm sorry >those rich bastards, only they can afford a 500 dollar quest 3, literally the best headset in the market right now, and a 1000 dollar PC
How poor can you bed?
Anyone who had that contraption on their face for more than an hour will tell you why it died.
Strictly hardware issue, no one wants that crap on their face, make it the size and weight of Oakley glasses and maybe. Also no one will be interested in making commercial software (not talking about experimental/flexing works like Alyx) for that shit while the hardware is in that state.
This month I made 800 dollars being a NEET selling AI images. According to Ganker I'm a couple months away from being a rich person the kind that buys VR.
I've been so tempted to buy a quest 3 because the Index set is starting to show it's age, but I know as soon as I do, within a month Valve will show off the Index 2 and I'll be made a FOOL of

Exactly. You seem to insist they don't exist cause you are a massive beta.
There would never, ever, ever be enough consumers willing to wear a headset of any size. VR is too involved for casual play, it isn't a passive action you can do to relax.
>its not a gaming headset its a productivity tool >take Apple Vision to work >supervisor or boss DOESN'T instantly yell at you for wearing it >battery dies 1/6th of the way your shift because the battery life is only 2 hours >face is swollen and red because of the moronic pointless giant eyeball screens on the front

Is this ok with you?
I just think it's silly that tech that'd literally alter with your brain, something that opens a whole other can of worms about being sure you're not plugged in RIGHT NOW and what is real, is going to be used for skyrim.
AVP's focus isn't even VR or games
it's MR computing, and it's too expensive for mass adoption, it's a dev kit for what you will be using in 5 years time
no one gives two fifths of a frick about AR other than advertisers who want to fill "that space" with ads under the guise of replacing physical signs don't even fricking start.
Who would have thought that a bunch of people who can barely afford 10 year old hardware would be so against a tech which requires much better hardware?
VR's fine, you just have to realize that there's two factions:
1. The Quest 2/3 crowd, who are fine with decent VR experiences, and are okay with "the basics." Also only paying $200-500 at the most.
2. The HOLY SHIT crowd with fancy-ass headsets that need 4x 6090 Gold Edition GPUs to run and you also have a haptic suit, FBT with like 20 cameras, a whole-ass room to move around in, etc.
I'm in the first group. We don't have air conditioning, so I don't play as much as I want, but I do like it.
I don't play any social games though, other than spending a day dicking around in Resonite trying to get shit to work and enjoy walking around dead worlds while some 20k hour guy rants about how the game's actually super-duper alive.
>more walled garden bullshit
wow, it's not like this happened to every other locked off VR headset, they never could have predicted this! Think different, am I right?
VR is silly.
It happens from time to time, sophisticated technologies that seem to have infinite potential, but in the end it's something silly that can't hold people's attention for long.
I honestly don't know how the entertainment industry doesn't realize this.
You only have to do a few tests to realize that VR doesn't have the capacity to hold most users' attention. My brother is all about this shit, I've seen about 10 people test his equipment and of those 10, 0 felt any desire to return. It's always the same reaction, at first you're amazed and think it's going to revolutionize everything, but after a few minutes you're a bit bored, you put it away and never go back.
Where are those Playstation 5 VR games? Are they hiding with Valve's secret new VR games too? Buyers remorse LMAO get robbed you weird ass headset turbo niche cultists.
My friend was swearing to me that this was the next big thing abd would change the world as it was so unique.
I told him about google glass and he never heard of it before.
>I told him about google glass and he never heard of it before.
It's not really the big gotcha you're think of.
Reminder that before iPad, there's plenty of tablets already.
And before smartphone became popular with video games, there's Nokia N-gage.
Just because the predecessor failed doesn't mean it won't ever success.
The execution was abysmal.
Like calling pic related a hoverboard, or a dude with gyno and an axe-wound a woman.
All three ideas are great (virtual reality, hover boards/crafts, gender-swapping) but, for some reason, humanity lazies out and makes shit and calls it the real deal.
It's sad and depressing really
bad hardware. If you want the general population to use it it can't weigh more than a pair of glasses. Apple vision is like wearing 30 pairs of glasses at once. Ridiculous they think people will put this on their head all day at work.

And the outcome of that are predictable memes who always follow this formula:

as this guy said its just not practical, you also have other problems such as how VR is a massive b***h to wear for long periods of time, the massive risk of running into something, and way way to few worthwhile games for it, it honestly needs another decade or two before it actually becomes mainstream
nah, it's the hardware. no one wants to wear 20lb ski googles everywhere
done and dusted, vr will always be niche until these are addressed
>b-but there's some cheap preowned headsets
no one wants to buy someone's sweaty old headset just like no one wants to buy used earbuds/headphones
>no one wants to buy someone's sweaty old headset
VR sets are barely ever used, and you can always just swap out the face plate. I buy used when possible, it's always way cheaper.
>VR sets are barely ever used, and you can always just swap out the face plate.
yeah, the point is most people don't want to deal with cleaning and replacing stuff
Most face plates just come right off, it's less effort than replacing earcups on a pair of headphones. I paid 300 bucks for my Index.
No gaems and I can't imagine that any serious gamer uses apple for gaming. VR is kind of tech thing and apple users are mostly normal people.
These
I feel like people would pay if it was actually some truly epic shit you could do on it instead of just gimmicky stuff.
>some truly epic shit
such as...???
Cheating at billiards using AR. Using an overlaid trajectory to help you throw a ball so it bounces off two things to hit a target.
The main reason nothing cool is allowed is because it can all be weaponized.
I want a AAA Spider-man game in VR where you can swing around a photorealistic NYC
so just VR port of ps4 spider-man
that would be pretty cool, but even of half of vr user would puke, lmao
Yeah, where the frick are the mecha games Japan?! Easy sell for me but all we got were shitty indie games and shallow attempts at making AAA “legit” for VR
why would Japs who only play phone gacha and Switch make a VR mecha game????
>Japan
Japan has essentially zero interest in VR because they have nobody making VR headsets aside from Sony's abortion, and it's a waste of money and the few titles they've put out have done poorly because there's no userbase.
You didn't try Zone of the Enders VR?
Also a hardware issue (there STILL isn't a screen that looks good) but the content issue has more effect.
this. It's like the ps3. Good hardware. But no gaems.
>looks at list of games that can get hacked in VR POV
yeah there's nothing being sold to me on the VR storefront so everything else that can be done with it isn't real.
reminder that a large portion of the Wii/3DS/Wii U's fanbase was softmodding the console
Nobody wants to wear an uncomfortable clunky headset for more than 2 hours.
this
can't believe apple thought businessmen would actually put these bricks on their head during the work day
you have to be monumentally stupid to think that would happen
>2 hours
You're being generous here, I'd say that 5 minutes is the limit a normal person will feel comfortable with VR. After that the brain starts giving off all the unmistakable signals that say: "stay away from this shit".
post >yfw vr flopped and shitted
I mean it was clear for everyone from the start that this shit not gonna pop. It's just too damn expensive even for the gayBlack person apple fanboys.
The way they advertised it also didnt explain why an apple gayboy needs this shit. It also looks dumb, like a scuba mask or something, nothing close to an apple product.
They thought they invented a new iphone or some shit?
I did see VR flop in the late 90's and I've seen it now, maybe I'll be lucky enough to see it fail a third time in my lifetime.
user experience and compatibility is fricking garbage. I can setup all my VR shit and it can just not working work for no reason.
To be fair, Apple products are pieces of shit and normies/mudslimes only want expensive phones they can show off.
Then why are their laptops have higher resolution, brighter, microLED screens? Why are their laptops faster, lighter, and have significantly longer battery life than the competition?
Better than what competition specifically? You're saying there's not a single other laptop on the market that outperforms apple laptops? Bullshit
There's no other laptop that has 24 hour battery life, correct.
Those things are necessarily slow because of their shit cooling. Can't have water or sand get in there.
>longer than most laptops
So they don't have the longest battery lives?
>while outperforming them aswell
All of them or most?
They have the longest battery lives unless you add on an external/secondary battery.
>All of them or most?
Most. And the ones they do not outperform will be lucky to have 12 hours of battery life.
Macbooks have the objectively best battery life, performance efficiency. Very few laptops have the same screen quality either, and the ones that do only recently came out. Macbooks have had miniLED for years now.
So you won't be specific about what competition you're referring to and you exaggerate the specs you use as an example of why apple laptops are better
Seems like you might be full of shit and can't be trusted anon

>18/36 hours of battery life
*If you leave the system idle, with the screen brightness 1 step above black, in a cool environment so the fans never spin up
>Why are their laptops faster, lighter, and have significantly longer battery life than the competition?
>2024
>selling laptops for thousands of dollars with 8gb ram
>faster
Lol
NTA but apple processors are 5 years ahead of the competition at the moment.
>broooo but their processors are so good bro
>haha nice what do you use them for?
>safari and candy crush
...
Macbooks are overwhelmingly used by programmers because MacOS is like Linux with a good UI and working drivers
I program on a mac for work and the window management is dogshit
Even windows 11 can remember your window placements
2024 and you still cant turn off mouse acceleration without an app
FRICK YOU TIM APPLE
>because MacOS is like Linux with a good UI and working drivers
That's like saying that every non-electric car is stuck with Frankenstein's monster engines that are based on 19th century tech.
are you aware electric cars predate combustion engine? they are the 19th century tech
Nah, the first AMD64 processors came out in 2003.
Every single iphone iPad and macbook for the past 10 years has overheated when you use it for more than 10 mins doing anything outside of typing or listening to music.
What is the point of obsessing over build quality or battery when they make defective products?
ye and i also cant play shit on their laptops
>resolution
The 16-inch MacBook Pro is 3456x2234. That's fewer pixels than 4k (3840x2160), which any number of manufacturers make. You can easily find 120hz or greater refresh rate, as well.
>faster
By what metric? Gaming? A Razer Blade in that price range will out benchmark a MacBook by a significant margin.
>battery life
Oh no, I might have to plug my laptop into a charging brick 2 hours earlier than if I had a worse performing Apple.
>faster
>Apple products are pieces of shit and normies/mudslimes only want expensive phones they can show off.
Lmao, actually cope Ranjesh. You can say what you want about macbooks/visionpro/whatever other product, but I'll take any iPhone over a flag of India(an android).
No one asked iToddler
>green text messages
>being a woman
LMAO
>can only make things up
>can't face the reality that his green text messages are an eyesore
Sorry Mandeep, I will not redeem your samsung bomb.
Toshiba makes Apple's shit anyway.
Bro, you can't even use VR Chat, bruh... there aren't even any virtual AI girlfriend apps. Bruh
>BLUH BLUH BLUH
shut up you stupid zoomer
ai gf doesn't need dumb goggles, just a un-cucked LLM and your own GPU
NO FRICKING GAMES THE NUMBER ONE RULE FOR VIDEO GAME TECH
XBOX SUCKS BECAUSE IT HAS NO GAMES
PS5 SUCKS BECAUSE IT HAS NO GAMES
NINTENDO STICH SUCKS DICK DUE TO A LACK OF GOOD GAMES
PC FRICKING SUCKS BECAUSE OF SHITTY OPTIMIZED GAMES
>XBOX SUCKS BECAUSE IT HAS NO GAMES
Xbox had plenty of great games. Ninja Gaiden for example.
Anon we re in 2024 ninja gaiden has been older than in 2004
>ninja gaiden has been older than in 2004
what the frick
>NO FRICKING GAMES THE NUMBER ONE RULE FOR VIDEO GAME TECH
Insider here.
Apple don't want people to associate the vision pro to VR gaming headset.
They wanted the people to think that the Vision Pro is a device that create virtual space for users.
it was dead from the start in that case lol
That's the problem with the product.
They are too detached from the user base, so their whole business plan is
>There's too much competitions in the VR gaming headset market, so we will compete in this virtual work space market instead
>According to the chart & statistics, there's so much potential to make huge money from this untapped market
>And if we sell the product at 350% price, we will be making a 350% profits
instead of
>Do people need this product?
>Would people want this product?
Steve Jobs really knew a lot about people like himself.
Yeah no shit, you don't have to be an insider to know that. And they're moronic for doing so because gaming is the main application of VR right now.
Niche product with no audience other than rich people/people with disposable income.
>NINTENDO STICH
Back to bed, Eric.
i don't own a switch but a lot of those games look good. i'm too lazy to emulate tho
>PC FRICKING SUCKS BECAUSE OF SHITTY OPTIMIZED GAMES
this cracks me up. if the dev can't optimize then the game probably isn't that good either
headset too heavy now
performance isn't there yet
developers aren't there yet
It's not dead, just slow to get off the ground. It took 40 years between when the Wright Brothers first made the plane to get to the point of the Spruce Goose's first flight.
Because unsurprisingly, no one wanted to pay $3.5K for a headset that's only marginally better than a Meta Quest 3, and without a similar library.
Wait if it's only marginally better than a Quest 3 does that mean it's worse than a Quest Pro for 2000 dollars more? i'm not really clear on the difference between 3 and pro.
VR will rise again over the next year, Meta opened up their OS to other manufacturers, Lenovo, ASUS and Xbox are going to make headsets.
Also other manufacturers will want to earn with the hardware sales which will make them automatically more expensive than meta hardware.
>release VR peripherals during the dark ages of culture
What were they thinking?
No one's standing up for a full skyrimVR playthrough without once deciding to just play seated with their height level modified in-software
>be late to the VR game
>act like you invented it
>have all the same issues as VR tech that existed 10 years before you
lol
Biggest problems VR had before the vision pro was the price tag and the lack of content, and apple bewilderingly seemed to actively double down on both problems, making a headset that was both more expensive and had less content by design because they didn't want iBlack folk to associate it with gaming which would hurt apples image as a status symbol
>expensive as frick gimmick gear that lacks real world applications beyond "oooo floating keyboard" and glorified tech demos
>average consoomer struggling to make rent/buy food
Even your typical Apple whales are feeling the pinch. I've only seen tech tubers and fad chasers using these things, and they're still returning them.
>the economy is shit, people can barely upgrade their phone
>release a $3500 VR headset
The only actual poster with brains here.
>be nvidia
>do exactly this with 5000 series gpus
It's ok though because of scam coin.
Nvidia is worse actually because they are making their GPUs at a 90% profit margin
The Apple turd doesn't come close
They don't give a shit about crypto anymore, they're all in on AI
>people can barely upgrade their phone
I don't believe you
in my shithole country currency 3500$ is 1/3 of what I make in a year
americans place more value on their car and phone than having a place to call home.
>Asus just announced a new high performance gaming focused headset
>Microsoft working on an Xbox version of the Quest
VRChads... we're finally coming home...
it's motion controls all over again
but these ones have the benefit of being able to actually function (wow!)
I too was excited for Valve Deckard until I saw the leaked patents showing that it was going to use an external compute device.
Quest is doing better than it ever has before right now, apple fricking it up doesn't mean VR is dead
But bros, it looks so fckking cool..
>Ruin the appeal of your already overpriced headset by making a smug nog the face of your product
No thanks I don't think I'll buy one.
Would've actually bought this if it weren't for the marketing.
Is their market actually just black people?
>You must be this ugly to want this.
Okay. I don't. Enjoy, AppleBlack folk.
>mandatory battery brick nonpictured for two to two and a half hours at best of battery life watching youtube
>same battery life as a Quest WITHOUT a battery strap playing actual games
lmao, god what a fricking scam
And Oculus has ton of 3rd party hardware like BoboVR. Just slap a spare battery on the back of the strap and your g2g.
Unironically what were they thinking?
should've gotten attractive/white models
if they're not gonna market to me I won't buy their product
wow!
its so cyberpunk!!
It's like i'm a cyborg lol!!!
like its so heckin transhumanist!!!!
It's a stable niche product for furries and sim autists now, it's not going anywhere
People have asked this question for years now. The answer remains the same.
nogaems
>passthrough
>mixed reality
>wowie zowie I can play virtual pingpong in my real life bedroom instead of literally anywhere real or fantasy I could imagine I'm so glad so much time was spent on this feature in totally going to use more than twice
I played VR games once a week or 2, I use my Quest 3 passthrough to watch YouTube while I cook probably every second day
You don't need a vr headset to watch YouTube in the kitchen
Yeah but you do need vr to pretend that you're putting babish into a boiling pot
>4k fricking vr headset
>when the quest is cheap as frick and actually plays video games
hurr durr
for one embarrassing moment I thought that was gonna say
>Apple slashes Vision Pro price
I think they did actually slash the price of the Quest 2 though, but that's probably just clearing stock for the new entry level model, I think it's gonna be like a 3 lite or something.
uncomfortable, expensive, and no games
make it just a pair of glasses that you put on and that doesn't cost as much as an entire console, and maybe i'll give it another shot
people said the same about 3D
the 3DS didn't even need glasses, and that's just a bygone gimmick now
Tbf I actually liked the 3D on the 3DS, especially the new 3DS.
The face diaper that makes you looks like a schizo?
LE iTUNNERS LE BTOF!!!
Friend has one of these. I like how they can link up with a computer to serve as a screen, but according to him the infrastructure isn't there yet and the battery life is garbage.
Too expensive. Motion sickness. Niche market, like everyone said it was all those years ago.
Zuckerberg
anyone here who has played Gorilla Tag knows the value of VR. I think meta quest + GT are like looking through a keyhole to the future.
It wasn't even that great
It's nauseating slop. No, I'm not referring to motion sickness.
No mecha pilot simulator or 1st person rogue squadron
>No mecha pilot simulator
aren't there like 8 of those?
none of those are good.
Vox Machinae and Star Wars Squadrons
Pricey and limited space
3499 US DOLLARS
Why do people think this thing is vr? You can't run shit on this overpriced garbage.
Literally the most garbage headset around and is is ar trash to boot.
It was forced. Not enough people want it or use technology the same way as the people that do. The idea of every gamer logging into some virtual hub to meet up like Ready Player One or Summer Wars was a pipe dream.
which is why Apple said the VP is nothing to do with that, it's a productivity tool instead
yeah, producing lawsuits at turbo speed as they all crack at once.
>productivity tool
>battery runs out in 2hours
very productive indeed
if they werent israeli and based vision os off of mac os instead of iPad os then it would be slightly better, because then you might be able to do fricking anything without needing to rely on connecting to a macbook with the SAME processor. unfortunately apple hates freedom
it's a niche product
you can't market it to normalgays because they aren't willing to put up with inconvenience
Apple should have somehow figured out a way to give "green bubbles" to Oculus users so blacks would like it
>quest is better product + value.
He was right. Although no way I'm buying his shit until he removes forcing people to login with a facebook account.
I have a Quest 3. The Facebook part is gone but you have to sign up for a Meta account or whatever.
Making the Dev account takes 15-20min at most and was pretty painless from what I recall when I did it back in Dec.
>you don't need a facebook account
>make an account that is facebook with a different name
You don't need a Facebook account anymore. Now you make a Meta account, link it, and then can run off and play whatever without having to think about that shit again.
like the other anons said, you don't need to have a facebook account and piracy is easy as frick
that being said, mine has been sitting out in the closet since January. I just can't be fricked to wear a headset tbdesu
brain implants wen?
I got one, I pirate everything, frick zuck.
RIP Oculous
I love VR, just finished a session of Into the Radious and it was very enjoyable. But i have to admit the biggest drawback VR has right now is that the technology is still at PS3 level tops. Until it catches up with current gen, it wont make the jump to mainstream.
VR has been around since the 80s. It failed then and will fail now.
Unsure whether to get a quest 3 which would likely not be for a few months from now anyway, or wait longer for a 4 or whatever else comes along at a similar price
I was thinking of getting a valve index but then I realized it's 5 years old and still isn't on any sort of discount. Yeah frick that, either drop the price or release index 2.
>that pic
lol. Man that story is really fricked up tho.. imagine dying like that and what would be going through your head for those final hours
>what would be going through your head for those final hours
>ahhh I'm le based caver enjoying another day of caving haha it's so cool, well time to die now but at least I'm enjoying the thrill of chill caving
I've seen some videos on youtube about morons dying like this and there are still people in the comments saying NAH IT'S OK I LOVE SPELUNKING IT'S CALM AND NOT DANGEROUS AND IT'S COOL HOW IS IT MORE DANGEROUS THAN EXTREME SPORTS FOR EXAMPLE HAHA?
>what would be going through your head for those final hours
blood, and a lot of it
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAIT, PLEASE, PICKAXE MAN COME BACK YOU WERE SO CLOSE, DON'T LEAVE ME HERE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP
If TIm wiener were my dad, things would be different around here.
Quest is still the best headset and that's a good thing.
is open viva on the quest?
zuck is probably singlehandedly keeping vr alive
lizardman good
itoddlers btfo
how did apple ever think the vision pro would be anything but a flop?
how did it not occur to them during the extensive R&D process that this thing is fricking useless beyond the initial novelty?
Because Apple is a cult.
BRUH they also made a CAR, killed it before release.
Corporations went full moron with metaverse hype and hyperfocused on making VR conference rooms, shopping malls and other shit you can go to in real life but in VR, and completely neglected making actual VR entertainment.
there's plenty of ping pong and golf games
that's the kind of shit that adults do right? businessmen enjoy golf, it sounds congruent with their vision
>3500 + tip
Anon, stop it. I don't wanna jerk off again
Because it's stupid.
VR will only work when we develop large scale public AR arenas to replace or supplement arcades.
Augmented reality should have been the way to go.
>Augmented reality should have been the way to go
Wrong.
Can you imagine rich people playing AR in their big ass mansion, and us poorgays can only play limited AR in our tiny apartment room?
>and us poorgays
I am not like you commie, have a nice day.
Augmented reality is moronic for gaming, it's insanely limiting with no benefits. It would only be good for something like what google glass was meant to be, a device as small as possible that gives you a HUD.
Everything is flopping simply because of one reason. The economy has turned to shit and people cant afford having fun with spending money on things anymore.
yeah but the elites have never been richer.
Lol
>years
I was only on lockdown for 3 months though
the restrictions were in place for years, not the lockdowns.
I only had restrictions for 1 year aside from having to wear masks (until that got struck down as illegal)
I was talking more like production lines and schools, shit was so fricking moronic
Did not happened here either
You must have been a cattle dumbfrick frickity moron to believe such nonsense.
I never had to wear a mask either and everything returned to normal by August of 2021.
Let me guess...American?
third world countries (australia, nz, canada, europe) had the most restrictions
Can I kiss you?
>expensive entry point
>is a toy you can only use for an hour or two before it hurts your face
>is slightly worse/more annoying than just a screen in basically every way except for the obvious Virtual reality benefit.
people with glasses are always taking them off for relief, and glasses weigh frick all.
VR wont take off until it fits inside glasses, and interacting with it is more ergonomic than buttons/touchscreen.
reminder that everyone using the word 'economy' itt is working for a foreign government trying to influence US voters
AI next, please.
>AI next, please.
I mean, the bubble will pop sooner or later, but the tech is here to stay.
That thing isn't a vr headset, it's a mr head set that doesn't do shit
>Why did VR die?
literally no video games
ar ain't vr. also AR is kinda cool. apple shit is just moronic. there are cheaper, sleeker AR glasses out there that you can do more with and they just look like some slightly bulky sunglasses not that abomination of a headset
NOOOOOO SIR DO NOT CANCEL
OUR VR JOURNALISM WEBSITE NEEDS VR HYPE
DO NOT CANCEL
DO NOT CANCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL
No software where u can live in any world via modding etc. No waifu u can have sex with and mod.
That would be killer app but its not there
Developers.
It will never be successful tech with broad support until poor and brown people can afford it.
It's obscenely expensive and for what? The support isn't there. It's especially moronic for apple to be getting into it, all their homosexual audience care about is appearance and current vr headsets make you look stupid.
VR is the biggest leap in vidya since 3D
even better if its less popular for now
Well microshaft gonna pave the way ( for worse)
no games
no porn
VR simply just needs more good vidya of its own.
PCVR has got an insane amount of games + mods, literally only morons say it has no games.
>The grand majority of people don't know these games exist.
If a tree falls in a forest--
It's just reddit tier disinfo, a preplanned response by sheep
other examples:
>nickleback sucks
>you like pineapple on pizza whats wrong with you
>I listen to everything but rap and country they're terrible
>69 HAHA and 420 DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and so on
I do not know if you are pulling my leg but I always thought people hated Nickleback for no good reason in a generation that saw the rise of shit like Reggaetón and Dubstep.
Unironically get assessed for schizophrenia. You are describing a paranoid delusion of a planned conspiracy to discredit pineapple pizza
He's describing basic mass media conditioning. A huge issue that's existed since radio and resulted in conditions that allowed the world wars among other horrors.
are they games or "games"
you can get 1000 hours out of VR from Blade and Sorcery and its mods alone
>Apple.
There's your problem. Its high tech aimed at tech illiterate normies who just want to own fancy things.
>buh buh apple
>all tech today is made to be easy to use
If people still had to use dos 90% of gays couldn’t figure it out.
If people had to use a loom, a sextant or a abacus today, 90% of gays couldn't figure it out.
What a stupid point. We're talking about modern tech and consumers here, homosexual.
>abacus
>literal toy for children
It all makes sense. You just think windows and android are hard to use.
>$3500
I wonder.
>Nobody can afford food and rent
>Why did this piece of plastic priced at two full month's wages fail
I don't care about virtual reality, give me an apple robot GF who's tied to some chinese slave woman forced to comply with all my demands
VR is so dead and gay it's insane.
There was ONE good innovation in VR. Lighthouse tech is legitimately cool, I can track objects in 3D space in my room with fairly high accuracy (for excruciating prices). But nobody else wanted to pay the HTC/Valve premiums, so now the entire market is a fricking wasteland of garbage inside out junk with poor precision but it doesn't matter because you're wearing a headset anyway so how would you notice your virtual arm is an inch away from your real one?
>literally only good for POV porn
LMAO
Honestly I hate pov porn in VR, which sucks because that's what 90% of it is. I look down and go 'thats not my dick, that's not my body' and then it just feels gay. I end up going for female solo or lesbian stuff which is an even smaller fraction of the remaining 10% of non-pov content which they lump together in a voyeur category. Straight porn as a voyeur in VR is just straight up cuck porn
frick off normie filth
vr porn is for gooning to the faces, it's about women looking at you with desire, not disgust or bordom
All porn is cuck porn moron
Yes very clever thank you but I'm describing the lack of dissonance you experience while in VR which makes it harder to not to consciously feel that way
>Why did VR die?
what uses does it have beyond
>VR Porn
>VR Skyrim + mods
VR sims
that's the true killer app here. racing and flying in VR is absolutely amazing
but unfortuntely, it adds even more to the price. you not only need a very beefy pc (7800x3d and 4090 is still not enough), you also need to spend even more for a simrig (like, easily $3k to do both racing and flight properly)
THere is no killer app that is going to get people to wear a clunky eye visor for longer than the novelty the price dmands of you.
People will go to moniotrs first.
anon, i have a triple 32/1440p setup on my rig and a pimax crystal (formerly a g2 reverb). i never use the triples. the headset is much better for racing. granted, if i had to do an 8 hour endurance race or something, i'd think about switching to the triples. but for any reasonable length of time, i'll stick with the headset, thank you very much. the immersion is amazing, the graphics are GudEnuf™ nowadays, and depth perception is pretty great for racing.
if you doubt my word, by all means, mosey on over to r/simracing and/or r/iracing and search for VR, you'll see tonnes of people sharing those opinions.
nvidia and radeon slowing down intentionally the progress in the area of graphic cards
immersion VR requires great graphics and screen res
>nvidia and radeon slowing down intentionally
Moore's law stopped applying almost 20 years ago. Why do you think we switched to multi core processing? It's not because it was faster, it's because the chips couldn't physically get any faster so we just started stacking them side by side.
I'm sure they're slowing down the hardware releases in some capacity, but remember this is also about pricing of tech for the consumer market.
>Moore's law is muh speed
Textbook example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
How would you calculate processor efficiency, buddy? What metric are you judging performance on, I'm dying to know.
>vision pro flopped
how about their $999 monitor stand, how's that doing?
>walled Garden ecosystem
>overpriced
gee I wonder why
No fricking software. That's it. When VR was getting interesting games people were excited about it, and then it stopped.
because people expected Matrix/Sword art online, they got a shitty phone taped to your eyes instead, also no games and too expensive
>because people expected Matrix/Sword art online
HL2VR is better than Alyx
I'll have to give it a try.
Just seems like its not designed for it so it wouldnt be as good.
indie shitter phil/timmy leeches video game climate is not in favor of vr at all
I think VR will always be a niche.
>2025 model
This is why it's dying for companies like apple they are releasing obsolete products to sell you another one next year , why buy now when the true 1.0 version will likely be 2026 - 7
I bought a vr headset exclusively to goon in virt a mate.
is VaM easy to use yet or does it still take some autism to get/find stuff
I wonder how long till a VR porn thread finally appears on /hc/
hmmm maybe i mean I like premade scenes/content not just assets
From my brief experience with vam MOST stuff felt do it yourself(like koikatsu studio).
I could be completely wrong though
there are a lot of premade scenes for just about every scenario you'd want. it can be very difficult if you want to make your custom characters due to the amount of morphs and textures available but if you want character models ripped straight from the game they're from you're golden. the UI looks daunting but it's not that hard once you figure out the basics/important ones.
ya what probably filters me is needing to import different things and getting them to work together without fricking up navigating the UI
there's really not much to import or do in 95% of cases unless you're making your own scene. you only really have to setup the session plugins/ plugins of your choice once or twice. after that loading the scene is pretty straight forward as is loading a character for the scene
so outside of f95 anywhere to search vam content? kemono is only useful if you know the name of user making the vam content
discord and the vam hub https://hub.virtamate.com/resources/categories/free.4/ but it's going to be a b***h if you go that route especially if you're starting off fresh since you'd have to do it one by one. I would strongly suggest getting a pack from a creator over at f95.
like official discord? or is there one where "pirated" content is discussed
it's the nooc(no original character) discord if you're after video game character. the vam piracy discords are practically dead with only a handful of people posting. f95 is unironically the best way to go for pirated stuff or kemono if they fix their issues.
>or kemono if they fix their issues.
didn't they basically leave the original site to rot while they now have a sekrit club version you'll never get into unless you're somebody to the dev (or pay him)
if you mean kemono.party they switched to .su . it only really started crapping out about a week ago and iirc they're trying to find a new server. anyway f95 is still far superior for vam leaks in 8/10 cases.
From what I heard the existing kemono would be maintenance mode'd while the owner created a secret version you need to be in the inner circle or a paypiggy to get access to that would still be getting updated importers and exclusive shares
Never owned a VR headset. Should I get Quest 3? I have heard it has some issues with binocular overlap.
Shitty stop gap between video games via standard input and Gabe Newell's in-development brain scanning tech that doesn't need implants.
VR will take off when people can sit on there ass and think through a video game, instead of waggling to it.
I wonder where all those shills who kept saying to get an Index and play HL Alyx or whatever since it is a "game changer" are now.
Black person there nothing bigger happening in vidya in our lifetimes
It's funny how braindead zoomers are. The biggest news in gaming over the past year or two is that system 246/256 is finally getting emulated.
You go chasing after modern slop, homosexual. I'll be kicking back with Time Crisis 3.
lol nice sticks and stones homosexual, I started with Atari 2600
>be an actual boomer
>still on Ganker
I only pray you are joking.
>zoomer genuinely thinks he won't be here in 15 years
nah i'm gonna leave for good soon. I can't imagine being 25 and still posting on this shithole.
>I can't imagine being 25 and still posting on this shithole
Sure thing Anon. That's what I told myself in 2009
I play VR to be an anthro animal in VRC and get hugs and headpats
According to Apple, the Vision Pro is not VR, AR or XR and is "spacial computing" so no, VR is not dying.
>VR is not dying
It's niche and will remain so.
Too bad israelites control it so you can;t get proper porn support.
can you use it on Quest 2 with USB link to PC???
You can use,
1) Link Cable for wired play
2) Airlink (built in, free) for wireless play
3) Virtual Desktop Streamer (app store paid app, but really good) for wireless play
4) ALVR (github, open source and free) for wireless play.
neat, thanx
they just cut the price of quest2 by ~half, I was thinking of getting the 3, but I only want it for PCVR so it seem good enough for me
obligatory
damn i wunna smash that fat chicks thick arse
>all I ever wanted from VR was just an alternative to your monitor, just put on the goggles and you can change your perspective around in games
>it's all just wagglan gimmicks
They haven't cracked the code of goon peripherals that aren't a pain to clean.
Even with foreskin and going in dry, you still need to clean the tube after use.
is she from new Mortal Combat, lol
even pozzed b***hes are hot when you can fondle their breasts, LMAO
You can't use it for sex in the way that people actually want to use it for
Until you can use VR for sex it is literally never gonna take off.
How can de demand plummet when it was nonexistent in the first place?
my dad was working on the piece of shit apple vr thing and he said the were going through development hell. they didnt have a demo at a some event and that was when the project went to the chopping block.
i swear to god I never thought i'd be one of those people saying the "my dad works here..." but for once in my fricking life its true, kek
The thing is, nobody is impressed that your dad works for apple. It was cool having some guy who worked at Psygnosis dating my aunt back in the 90s, I got some free games.
bros, I fricking love VR
I spent all my gaming funds on it, thank god ps5 shit the bed so hard, I missed out on nothing~!
Should I do it?
Quest2 is now cheaper, but its lower res and Zuck spies on you.
So maybe.
VR is the only time technology made me want to vomit IRL.
>TOO expensive
>$199.00
???
that's a year worth of wages to a SEAnig spic
he's only gonna spend that much of Genshin
>$199.00
You are a LYING dishonest wienersucking Black person. Who the frick wants to buy literal Black person toys of SHIT quality that are VR sets that cost so little? The real VR sets cost around $1000 like Valve Index and I personally don't even consider Black person toys that cost less because they are SHIT.
When I built my $3000 PC, I knew it would be good for A LOT of applications. And what is a $1000 VR set good for? Two fricking games? I just bought a $350 knife in CS2 and it's a much better fricking investment than a fricking useless VR set. Frick off, Black person
>that's a year worth of wages to a SEAnig spic
Your PC costs $400, loser, what are you even talking about?
>I just bought a $350 knife in CS2
I don't say this often, but you might actually be dumber than the guys shilling VR.
Why?
Knives have actual value in CS2, more than doge-coin, lmao.
Black person a samsung oddysey+ is sub 199 nowadays. it's a perfectly decent vr experience.
Vr is a toy that costs 199$ only manchildren buy to jerk off and sometimes play games (rare)
most moronic post of the day
Index is overpriced, low res shit tier at this point.
>Index is overpriced
JUST LIKE EVERY SINGLE VR SET OUT THERE
I'm glad you agree with me
Besides, spending even $100 on hardware to play two games is too much for me. There are just NO games for VR. What are good games for it? Boneworks and HL Alyx?
This is why VR is dead and will always be dead. It has no use. That is my point.
>Besides, spending even $100 on hardware to play two games is too much for me.
lol you actual kid
I'm starting to doubt you even have a $3000 PC at all.
Racing games and Flight sim need at least $300 worth of peripheral each to have good immersion and those only work for like 2-5 games in their respective categories.
>Racing games and Flight sim need at least $300 worth of peripheral each to have good immersion and those only work for like 2-5 games in their respective categories.
I can play Assetto Corsa all day in my 1k sim rig. Nothing in VR is worth playing for more than 30 minutes, once in a blue moon. And no, it's shit for sims, awful resolution and head tracking is inferior to triples.
>Flight sim need at least $300 worth of peripheral each to have good immersion
I flew from cape canaveral to cuba with a stick I bought from a people second hand shit sale, Idk what you call it in ameriburgerland.
>Racing games and Flight sim need at least $300 worth of peripheral each to have good immersion and those only work for like 2-5 games in their respective categories.
My mouse alone costs more. What's your point? I play ALL games with my mouse. With some special hardware I can only play two games. See, homosexual, it's just not justified for me to spend a single cent on such gimmicks.
More power to you if you like simracing, I spent my money on my home gym instead.
>If you buy product A you can't also own product B
shut up my csgo skin is better than ur headset moron
which headset, poorgay?
What are you getting at? Do you understand what I'm saying? If VR had a lot of good games, I'd consider getting it. But it's just useless. I never said you can't have B if you have A
>I don't have a sim rig because I bought a gym
You've made it an either or. Most people don't conflate the purchasing both items. They buy a sim rig if they want to race video game cars and they buy a gym if they want to exercise.
People buy both. You're poor and had to make a choice, you chose the gym and so to feel better the thing you didn't buy is the gimmick
Do you see how your little mind copes?
>I don't have a sim rig because I bought a gym
You got me wrong actually. I don't have a simracing rig because I don't play racing games. That's all. I just wanted to say that I lift, so I had to mention my barbell rack, complete with bar and bumper plates, two benches (one adjustable), and two sets of dumbbells. Oh, and a pullup bar too.
You have drawn false conclusions, my Black, I didn't have to "make a choice"
am i surprised a meathead completely missed the point and inadvertently completely agreed with the person they were with arguing with? nope.
I drew conclusions because you mentioned it in your post you fricking moron.
>I spent my money on my home gym instead.
You had a choice of 2 options and you chose the gym.
Your words, poorgay.
You're gay
you should look for games tagged "VR" on Steam, the mods for existing games are pretty good too
the highest rated mech game on Steam is VR
>when I built my 3000$ pc
>haha poor Black folk (unironically)
you're part of the problem.
He's an avatargay with a gimmick. Report his candy ass.
>you're poor so you hate VR
>no I'm not
>you are part of the problem
Yeah, I can't win this
VR is never going anywhere if only the I want to say rich but im just going to say buttholes can afford it.
>if only the I want to say rich but
Found the ESL
lack of punctuation makes it awkward to read
use perentheses next time
Yes, you are right. But what does that sentence mean?
Does this helps?
VR is never going anywhere if only the, I want to say rich but im just going to say buttholes, can afford it.
If it doesn't, it basically just mean
VR is never going anywhere if buttholes are the only one that can afford it.
>if only the, I want to say rich but im just going to say buttholes, can afford it
That stray "the" made it hard for me to understand. Now I get it, thanks for your effort!
>people who buy things I can't afford are buttholes
what's it like to feel this inferior?
You're replying to the wrong person.
I'm just explaining what the sentence means.
You need to go higher up the messages chain.
so you're just helping him to be inferior?
>can't afford 200 bucks
How poor can you be?
if only, I want to say the rich but im just going to say buttholes, can afford it
better?
VR is the same price as a console
get real, motherfricker. i own vr, i play vr, but my choice and options for vidya gaymen are fricking vastly lower than regular consoles, even if i would never touch one with a 400 foot virtual pole.
vr is niche. its steering wheel for videogames niche. most, almost all, people just want to sit on their couch and do frick all, even pc gamers are like this, its minmaxxing as frick. entertainment to energy.
waving your hands in the air like you just dont care? fun
waving your hands in the air like you just dont care?
tiring
that simple.
Vision Pro isn't even vr...
you can;t even do vr shit on it
>WHERE ARE YOUR CHEAP VR SETS
they cost as much as a console, children have them because it's novel enough that you'll know if they have it or not so they'll get it as a present instead of an Xbox because they already have one of those, right?
Because strapping a screen to your head is not and never was what people considered "virtual reality".
F95 is such a mess to browse, though. Like, how do I even search specific chars for VAM?
there's literally a section specifically for VAM and there are creators that specifically specialize in porting game characters so they're usually the most popular. they have torrent packs from almost all of the actually relevant ones.
I really don't get the appeal of VAM. It's just an overly complicated animation viewer/physics sandbox and the webms always make look a thousand times better than it actually feels to play. I've gotten more enjoyment from just loading up Skyrim VR with a modified children of Skyrim mod and this:
LMAO
I just can't take the ragdoll physics seriously, but kudos to the face mods
If you think I want to spend money on VR for.... THIS, you're dead wrong
This shit looks atrocious, my Black person. I laughed when I watched it
nta, but Skyrim is also a game, a real game
also Fallout VR is nice
substantially more than a dollhouse sim
>Skyrim is also a game, a real game
It absolutely isn't, it's a shit sandbox.
name 5 actual games
Blackjack, poker, chess, pocket pool, tag
>Skyrim is also a game
It's not a VR game. All slop Bethesda has ported to VR is shit.
>I just wish someone would realize the potential of making a highschool sim style VR h-game
We don't even have non-VR ones, come on
not in this pozzed world
I suppose you could make one with a few guys anonymously and use ai for vices and shit, oh well, nobody wants to risk prison for ~~*fake cp*~~
t. tranime erping homosexual
>wounded buzzword spewing moron
How do you get it to run at a decent framerate? I have a 3090 and the performance goes to shit when there's more than one character on screen.
I don't. I get mostly 60fps at 2700x2700 on a 4080. If I want steady frames then I drop to 90hz and force motion reprojection on but then you deal with the movement stutters
How come we didn't get cool visors? Aren't we supposed to be on track for a Cyberpunk dystopia?
>Cyberpunk dystopia
you are already living in one, it's just not as cool and edgy
That's what I was afraid of. What a gay timeline this is.
Yes. It's known as the boring dystopia.
>How come we didn't get cool visors?
We could've had it as glasses if the NSA hadn't got caught spying on people
price of entry, no games, every existing "good" game is an early access tech demo, need a pc AND vVR headset to have not shit VR (i've used the quest 2. stop that.)
ps5 only has 1 game
psvr2 has more than that
VR will never go mainstream unless Nintendo manages to pull off another Wii and then everyone and their grandmother will want one.
its already mainstream thats not the problem it needs to be good(er) on average, without needing a pc too.
>impossible currently
so get fricking fabricating with your BILLION dollar factories then nvidia.
It didn't. Ganker just tells itself it did becase they are either
A) self conscious pussies and afraid to put on a headset
B) Poor
C) Bitter that the coolest thing to happen to games in recent years is mostly a social experience
I can have fun in VR without turning on a microphone, let alone opening VRChat
You forgot
D) moronic and talking about shit they know nothing about, like headsets being uncomfortable, being expensive, needing facebook, etc
I wouldn't call posting on Ganker socalising
So what is it?
self flagellation
And by the way before one of you cultists say something moronic, I have an index.
>cultists
nerds who enjoy a ~200$ pc google
boomer meme
same with muh science and muh space
Gretta looks like that?!
Fricking greta at it again, what a bawd
'member when protesting was a legal right?
Dang bro, look at all that cellulite. Fat b***h needs to go on a diet.
Are there any more webms of her? I keep only seeing this one getting posted
her handle is right on the video you lazy frick
I love massive fricking asses bros, almost as much as massive breasts
Price too high
No games or software
People are moronic and hurt themselves too much
People outside of the US don't have the space required in their house to play with VR
>Price too high
It's around console level, maybe lower
It's "you're a gamer, right?" gift material
>No games or software
Steam's VR selection is getting quite expansive nowadays (more than mechs' got, that's for sure)
>People are moronic and hurt themselves too much
That's what seated is for
>People outside of the US don't have the space required in their house to play with VR
That's what seated is for
also I am beyond tired of EVERY streamer who does dark souls ring borne content in blade and sorcery admitting "i've never played these games before lol" so you're telling me not one of the 12 million+ people who played at least elden ring out of the souls series have a fricking vr headset?
whats the point of porting basically the whole of dark souls 1 into the game if no one is going to flesh it out because the communities don't overlap?? whats the fricking point of any of this I guess is my point. this isn't for gamers its for facebook trying to make more money.
>not one of the 12 million+ people who played at least elden ring out of the souls series have a fricking vr headset?
yes
what do you think "niche" means???
you think VR is niche when ready player 1, sword art online, dot hack, cyberpunk 2077, etcetera, exist?
Vr as an SF concept is a common trope, but buying a headset for current vr is a NICHE, yes
ITODDLERS BTFO
zuck wins
Screen on your face with motion controls is not virtual reality. Call me when we get full dive.
So true, Elon must deliver.
this
>thinks we're talking about wireless cheap shite headsets not good + good pc
follow the conversation or don't speak
Oh I'm sorry
>those rich bastards, only they can afford a 500 dollar quest 3, literally the best headset in the market right now, and a 1000 dollar PC
How poor can you bed?
>what you can't afford 1500 (minimum) what are you poor
like I said, buttholes.
not even close
Anyone who had that contraption on their face for more than an hour will tell you why it died.
Strictly hardware issue, no one wants that crap on their face, make it the size and weight of Oakley glasses and maybe. Also no one will be interested in making commercial software (not talking about experimental/flexing works like Alyx) for that shit while the hardware is in that state.
Because once the average person experiences it once they are good forever. Like other gimmicky shit such as axe throwing.
agree, since I started axe throwing that's the only thing I do
theres no going back after you tried VR
This month I made 800 dollars being a NEET selling AI images. According to Ganker I'm a couple months away from being a rich person the kind that buys VR.
I've been so tempted to buy a quest 3 because the Index set is starting to show it's age, but I know as soon as I do, within a month Valve will show off the Index 2 and I'll be made a FOOL of
My buddy works at Valve, Deckard is DOA and about 5 years out.
Is vr worth it if I'm only interested in porn and porn games?
It's not worth it either way. The porn sucks and the games are jank.
get into vrchat and frick the anime girls
I'm not really into the idea of jerking to autogynophiles.
Stop being a failed man and meet real women then
I don't play VR chat though.
Obviously, if you are so fricking afraid of meeting people. Men these days are cowardly homosexuals, I swear.
I'm not about to stick a VR headset on my head, pretend you're a woman and pretty, sorry.
I'm also not a 9 year old.
>I'm too much of a pussy to pick up real women so I'm going to pretend they are all troons and not even try!
When exactly did your balls fall off? Do you carry them in a purse or something?
Real women weren't born with a penis buddy.
Exactly. You seem to insist they don't exist cause you are a massive beta.
You mean Second Life for zoomers? Nah that shit's beyond gay.
>no games
>no porn
lmao
I love it so much when gayMAN fricks up.
Give me a bit of hope that we won't all end up as goobacks.
There would never, ever, ever be enough consumers willing to wear a headset of any size. VR is too involved for casual play, it isn't a passive action you can do to relax.
>never used one
unless it's SAO level i ain't interested
>its not a gaming headset its a productivity tool
>take Apple Vision to work
>supervisor or boss DOESN'T instantly yell at you for wearing it
>battery dies 1/6th of the way your shift because the battery life is only 2 hours
>face is swollen and red because of the moronic pointless giant eyeball screens on the front
Bravo!
>Future VR
>Implant Chip in your brain
>You're actually hallucinating and "see" the message / website popping up
>For games, same thing. Hallucination. But now you can also "touch", "smell" and "taste" things.
Is this ok with you?
>Implant Chip in your brain
no
I just think it's silly that tech that'd literally alter with your brain, something that opens a whole other can of worms about being sure you're not plugged in RIGHT NOW and what is real, is going to be used for skyrim.
AVP's focus isn't even VR or games
it's MR computing, and it's too expensive for mass adoption, it's a dev kit for what you will be using in 5 years time
Nice indian video full of bullshit, pajeet third worlder gimmicker
no one gives two fifths of a frick about AR other than advertisers who want to fill "that space" with ads under the guise of replacing physical signs don't even fricking start.
meanwhile facebook lost what 200 billion in value from their VR shit?
>cause massive headaches
>vr sets are expensive
bruhhhh..... i wonder why?
Who would have thought that a bunch of people who can barely afford 10 year old hardware would be so against a tech which requires much better hardware?
too expensive
shit games/"experiences"
too hot to use for obese userbase
there's no way morons spent 3.5k on this garbage just to have it discontinued
>VR
>flopping
Name a more iconic duo
Go woke go broke.
Facebook murdered it.
post yfw you dodged the VR meme and saved yourself the money.
>saved yourself the money.
get a job
I suspect Americans look at people using this Vision pro the same way Europeans look at people using iPhones
Why the frick theyre so obsessed with vr shit? These omega companies
People don't have real life friends anymore so they can't try it
VR will never work till we get Ready Player One level of technology complete with the full haptic suit
god this movie is so bad
VR devs could learn a lot from it since they're all acting like corpos rather than listening to haliday and gamers.
the book isnt better.
clearly because apple didn't put emulators onto their new headset
>plummeting demand
from... 3 people to 1 dude inside the company?
You remove the "cancels 2025 model", paste any date and it will be still valid as news (repetitive and redundant but valid).
Never seen so many people seethe so much about something they haven't tried.
Ganker is a third world image board
Playstation VR failed
Apple VR failed
Shitbook Quest failed
Ukraine failed
You will not be refunded
>Ukraine failed
Poor little pidoras, injecting his frustrations into off-topic threads. Poor little subhuman.
Buyers remorse thread, love to see VR cucks pay the toll. Stupid fad.
>more walled garden bullshit
wow, it's not like this happened to every other locked off VR headset, they never could have predicted this!
AI will change the game for good
because everyone is shown meme 'experience' bullshit.
ask their favourite game and mod in VR camera view and play it normally otherwise.
People treat VR as if they're judging the input scheme, not the fricking replacement for a monitor on their head giving them insane immersion
>ask their favourite game
can't even name a flat game
i play oblivon and gta IV in VR currently. the former on KBM and the latter with an xbox controller.
any 3d game with a non-gimmick camera is going to have a VR injection of some kind
Where are those Playstation 5 VR games? Are they hiding with Valve's secret new VR games too? Buyers remorse LMAO get robbed you weird ass headset turbo niche cultists.
>no games
>porns lackluster
>real women cheaper/easier to rape/seduce
>???
guess ill keep my quest 1 as a momento and mobile pornset
My friend was swearing to me that this was the next big thing abd would change the world as it was so unique.
I told him about google glass and he never heard of it before.
>I told him about google glass and he never heard of it before.
It's not really the big gotcha you're think of.
Reminder that before iPad, there's plenty of tablets already.
And before smartphone became popular with video games, there's Nokia N-gage.
Just because the predecessor failed doesn't mean it won't ever success.
Anyone else see the C&C guy?
The execution was abysmal.
Like calling pic related a hoverboard, or a dude with gyno and an axe-wound a woman.
All three ideas are great (virtual reality, hover boards/crafts, gender-swapping) but, for some reason, humanity lazies out and makes shit and calls it the real deal.
It's sad and depressing really
>Hoverboard was great
>Then moronic buttholes are recklessly using it and cause dangerous accidents to happen
This is why we can't have nice things.
>AR headset flops
>"why did VR dieded?"
???
bad hardware. If you want the general population to use it it can't weigh more than a pair of glasses. Apple vision is like wearing 30 pairs of glasses at once. Ridiculous they think people will put this on their head all day at work.
idiots in charge.
Playstation, Facebook, and Apple can't sell VR. No one can. You won't be refunded. It's a dead ultra niche market. Never gonna try it, cult members.
nah, mostly idiots.
for instance you first have to make the divide between ar and vr headset.
that mixed apple abomination could never work.
experiencing the real world with latency and pixelgrid...moronic.
apple has only yes-men surrounding it. just take a look at the hiring process. they won't release a good product, ever again.
Minecraft in VR and classic Doom with an endless amounts of WADS to play in VR is what makes it worth it for me.
THey forgot that the rule of cool doesnt matter when you make something too expensive.
wake me up when they make it no larger than glasses
>walks into thread
>wake me up when it reaches this impossible specification
>that showed them , heh
