Any field that requires serious depth of knowledge is dominated by men. If you've worked with women I'm tech you'll notice they gravitate towards the lightest tasks. They're dilettantes.

I'd imagine women would love CK2 (or perhaps CK3 even more but I haven't played that) because it's basically medieval The Sims.
I imagine due to sample size shenanigans and Paradox nickle and diming so much, coupled with the fact that they update so sparingly and leave as many bugs as they do in releases that the amount of females playing their games would be kind of low, probably moreso than one would normally expect of a niche genre.
With CK2/3 in particular the oodles of characters, who might have appealed to a social aspect, don't really behave all that uniquely or much at all resemble humans despite all the traits and "personalities" in the game. Romance of the Three Kingdoms back on the PS2 managed to make characters feel more interesting before taking into consideration that the game had a finite amount of available characters in any playthrough, and that was nearly 20 years ago on a fricking console.
Just add a sims or raising sim flair and they'll play them.
Girl games tend to be fricking autistic as well, just add more emphasis on clothing reflecting a country's status or recognition or stats pertaining what countrymen want to bang who country princess or some shit and they'll be all over it.
Grand Strategy games are about things that women couldn't care less about: war, working towards an objective that isn't clear, abstraction. Oh and also videogames, women don't like videogames other than Zelda, Pokemon, AAA games and very casual shit like that.

I play Grand Strategy games because i like the feeling of a "living world" in a videogame, where there are lots of AIs interacting with each others and dynamically shaping the world, the "power fantasy" argument is maybe what the majority of the playerbase wants but not me, i like history but i don't care about RPing a nation in that way.

Women's interests even when it comes to games, don't tend to skew this way. Hell, I enjoy some strategy but I veer towards something like Against the Storm now - it's quicker but with an overarching goal.
Factory Town is like an easier and softer looking Factorio, and farming sims that have softer appearances and less "sim-like" aspects are more popular with women than, say, the actual Farming Simulator games.
9/10 if you have a woman saying they like a genre, they'll have watched someone play or have only scratched the surface themselves. However, contrast that with something like Sims 4 and you find the female version of their grand strategy game - but their grand strategy is following a dedicated bloodline of sim families for a thousand hours.
