Do you not know where Warcraft came from, moron? It started out as an RTS. DOTA only loosely has ties to RTS because it was made in Warcraft 3 but League of Legends never had anything to do with strategy so frick off and take your pointless, garbage thread with you, little homosexual.

Like Witcher 3 got a mod and it's single-player RPG, ASOIAF is one of the biggest mods in CK2 and it's a book series/TV show.

Witcher, first and foremost, is a whole ass series of books, and so is Saga of Ice and Fire. Games mostly put it in the general conciousness. (You don't see Gothic or doom getting strategy games. Skyrim sometimes does, but it's like 5th game in a lore series, and even then most of those project burn down before they get anywhere)

WoW had three games (well more like the later two) to pull setting history from, and MMO' s are usually filled with setting bs that average player clicks through in every quest.
Moba's like LoL have almost no "Story" cntent, other than what Riot releases in the shop window. I think the one story thing they actually had was that you could get a mission to kill Cho'gath as one of the characters.
Maybe this will change with more games being released in their "verse", but I'm aware that the whole setting was scraped at least twice during LoL lifetime (I still remember ahri actually being a fox, or the three northern clans being a new thing, I think that was during the release of Lissandre that those were introduced)

Probably off-topic, but Arcane does not do legwork, it just retcons anything it wants without caring about the bigger picture.

LoL's lore's is one of the worst in the industry, as is the case with almost all MOBAs and competitive games.
It's a mishmash of shit that they keep piling on as excuses for cool characters. Frick's sake, there's no possible lore where on one hand you have Demacia and sword flinging groids, while also having those technofreaks that Singed and Warwick hail from, while ALSO having K'Sante and his spiel about "colonizers".
    It's a mess.

The point still stands: it's a mish-mash kitchen sink that was rebooted THRICE already, and various bits got reworked countless of times. Never to create coherent lore or even "lore", but simply to update some 10+ year champ to peddle a new skin.
Last time their lore was semi-coherent, it was '12

Except the early lore was the only one that made any sort of sense. The setting made sense for the game it was in. If they wanted a new setting they should have made a new game.
There's a reason any decent writing avoids retcons like plague, because it makes any kind of investment into the lore counterproductive to enjoying the story(i.e you'll enjoy it more by knowing less of it).
And the fact that, the complete rewrite aside, retcons still happen reguralry, as the stuff is developed, balanced and redeveloped (in service of selling more stuff), means that the only time to really get into the story will be after LoL is well and truly dead from a developer perspective, and since it's an online only moba, the game will most likely be unplayable by then.

          >and since it's an online only moba, the game will most likely be unplayable by then
We are slowly getting there, so it shouldn't take long. 3-5 more years, and their only playable game will be TFT, unless they slash it (doubt it, earns them more money than rest of the game)

Most of my time in the game, after I got somewhat hang around using the rotational champions I've spent either on twisted threeline, or that other circular map. It was fun, more fun than main map ever was. I also didn't like Aram, cause it was boring, although I distinctly remember one guy flaming me for a stupid item build (It was my first time playing the rotational character I picked up, and I was still getting used to which items are which damage type, so I was just buying whatever in the shop), and another guy telling him to STFU, because it's aram so nobody fricking cares.

I remember a League of Legends GSG being pitched at one point. After releasing the LoL RPG and then showing off a LoL fighting game at EVO, there was a survey asking what other LoL things should be made, and I remember one of the choices being a GSG, but it wasn't specified whether it'll be a blob painter or a Civ-like (since most normies consider Civ to be a GSG).

Because it's moron shit that makes no sense and no one wants to spend time fixing it up for free. WoW has Warcraft to fall back on with simple 4 major factions shit. TES actually has something to work with. League is more of a meme world like pokemon. Besides League players aren't really known as having imagination or being creative so you're stuck with nothing.

The only reason the public is not familiar with it is cause Riot had no big release to use as a vehicle to showcase their work yet.

    >hey whe are european knights but we are also kinda greek and we have french duelists and uhhh theres blacks around here for some reason

and its the same thing for all other factions they just take 100 different inspirations and try mixing in a single faction andd it makes everything extremely generic to the point they have to make every noxian use red/black clothing and demacians using white/blue because we wouldnt be able to tell one from the other if it werent for that.

You have to look at it from the context of what it was before they reworked it. Riot had to fill all the champions with clashing aesthetics that already existed into the same country while at the same time giving it its own visual and lore identity. They did a fine enough job.

An apocalyptic world war 1000 years ago fought with the wizard equivalent of WMDs that almost destroyed the planet and displaced millions forcing migrations across Valoran and Shurima.
Which is coincidentally also Demacia's origin story and why they hate mages so much. They were founded by various groups of refugees trying to escape the destruction who united into one nation.

Black person, she got that reworked years ago, along with general character rework. Between 2015 and 18, Riot had this moronic period where they would pick a random champ and declare it "obsolete", then rework them almost entirely. Kayle was the worst, since she went from pretty much perfect to utterly useless, just because some c**t was bored and decided that nope, utility champ is bad, let's make an underwhelming support.

About guns in Demacia it is actually kind of strange that the Demacians aren't shown in any artwork using them. Like Noxus has plenty of canons and handguns. It'd be kind of weird if Demacia didn't have their own.

Riot actually picked up a lot of the Warhammer guys from Games Workshop to write their setting

It feels like their lore has been built on a foundation written by the marketing department, piecemeal as champs were released, and the people making the champs were as close to an ai as humanly possible.

In the early years Riot didn't have any professional writers or care that much about their world so they just came up with champions they thought looked cool then when they did get serious the new writers they brought in had to retroactively justify those earlier designs and build their world around them.

            The early lore:
            >Raised from the age of two inside the Magi's Academy for Unpleasant Boys, Ryze has never really fit in with his peers. Though his disciplinary record might prove otherwise. At the age of seven, Ryze snuck into the professors' quarters and used a bolt of electricity to singe the hair from the headmaster's prized poodle, Yipps. At nine, he mixed an ordinary laxative into a batch of fire breathing potion his chemistry teacher was preparing for a class field trip. At the age of twelve, he dismantled the school's zeppelin and reassembled it inside the library. Six months later, he was caught drawing runes of binding on every chair in the academy's auditorium. (It took two full days to unglue the entire student body after the Witches Day ceremony.) Today, Ryze has joined the League of Legends to study the magical creatures and powerful will-workers that fight there.

Oh frick I almost forgot this one existed.
    >There is an ancient form of magic, forgotten by many and discarded by some. It is the magic of the earth, of the resonance of crystals and gems. Taric's father was a healer in their city, on a world far away. Taric was always interested in his father's pursuits, even from a young age. Despite his burgeoning understanding of herbs, plants, and animal medicines, it was the power of gems that most fascinated the growing boy. It wasn't long before Taric had exhausted his father's coveted library and set out on a path of his own. He wasn't to be a healer, but a defender - one who used the power of the earth to preserve and protect. Quickly, Taric became a wandering knight, renowned across the land. That is, until the day a spell of summoning grabbed him from his home and deposited him on Runeterra. Now, Taric misses his world, though he is happy to fight in the League, protecting all who are in need.
Old Taric and I think Kayle lore used to be basically just "idk they're like aliens or something and now they wanna fight in lol".

Like this is the fricking lore all the jaded boomers here are nostalgic about and angry at Riot for redoing.

probably because anyone that cared stopped caring when rito stopped caring.
    >remove summoners from the lore
    >why are they fighting 5v5 on summoners rift then?

did you ever watch a super smash bros match and ask yourself "BUT WHY THEY FIGHTING DOE???"

Do you have any idea how restricting it is to need to have every champion's story end with "and then they joined the magic gladiator arena!"?
It limits the scope of who and what can be a champion so much. Riot made the right decision when they got rid of summoners.

        >when they got rid of summoners.
The game still calls you a summoner, thou
        >how restricting
I find it a feature, not a bug

They could just do the natural thing and make the league an all powerful shadow cabal that rules the world and enslaves fighters through force, coercion, blackmail, and other nefarious means with a few willingly joining. Think Roman Empire mixed with British colonialism. The brits steal artifacts and other stuff to put in their museum, the summoners steal promising warriors to fight in their underground blood fight for money and renown, maybe even have a grand tournament every x years that determines which group becomes the leading councilors, adding a ultimate reason for them to pit the champions against each other so frequently.
Of course this is problematic and toxic though, can't have that. instead they just randomly decide to fight each other, sometimes against family or loved ones, and sometimes alongside their greatest enemies for no real reason other than "lmao"

The geography is way too imbalanced for it to be fair without giving certain factions moronicly OP hero units, and arbitrarily limiting certain nations. The In lore balance of powers makes no sense and making it playable would make it apparent that most countries only exist because the writers want to keep a status quo.
    >noxus game start conquers its surrounding plains immidiately gaining shittons of good land uncontested since demacia and freljord are bottlenecked by mountain ranges, becomes ottomon tier country but industrialized meaning every other country needs to hugbox to counter it since the rest of the map is too small
    >Most of the freljords land is useless, either gets partitioned early, partitions demacia with noxus or joins an anti noxus hugbox.
    >Demacia is just too small to push noxus back so they need to force a freldord,Iona, demacia hugbox or the game just ends.
    >Piltover & Zauns denfended my mountains and incredibly technologically advanced so any war between it and noxus would be one of attrition and of neithers intersest. conquers the plains of the southern continent since shurimas probably a failstate, can torpedo the game by supporting noxus or demacia or build up for a final standoff for whoever wins
    >Ionia sits in the corner all game waiting to get used for lebensraum by noxians, has to join the anti noxus hugbox or noxus's navy will be too strong
    >Shurima is a giga shithole directly next to 2 of the endgame crises spawn points and is full of wandering shizophrenic gods and god tier monsters, gets partitioned by piltover and whatever crisis spawns forst
    >targon is the spectator country
    >shadow isles isnt a country
    >bilgewater immediately gets genocided by the international community since nobody want to get their shit pirated

There are other nations in between Demacia and Noxus. And the Freljord and Ionia are not aunited political entities so they would also be multiple tags.

It really would only work with some constraints on the bigger nations, and expanded maps for the small ones
      >Noxus needs to immediately be forced into the Ionian invasion so Demacia has room to breathe, Freljord has time to unite, and Ionia can't sit back and watch the fireworks
      >Bilgewater needs significant diplomatic bonuses for fending off the Shadow Isles so they don't get ganked
      >Shurima needs to be seriously restrained at the start so they don't immediately blitz every nation around them
      >Both Piltover/Zaun and Mount Targon would need to be bigger on the inside to account for severe internal differences

If it was a thing the start date should probably be on the Noxian invasion of Ionia.
And the game CK2 for obvious reasons, fixes all the concerns you listed and you can have superevent invaders like Viego, Mordekaiser, Void, return of Azir.

I feel like Total War would be able to make use of it pretty well, the Lord and Hero system from Warhammer seems like it's perfect for Runeterra
Also gets rid of the sprawling empires vs. holdout kingdoms problem by splitting everything into small factions
But yeah, as it stands the Noxian invasion is the prime (if not the only) sensible starting date for any strategy game in this universe unless they ever flesh out the Rune Wars themselves

Modding Total War games takes too much time, effort and skill by comparison.
There's a reason people have been able to shit out Paradox mods for every imaginable IP ever.

      >Demacia is just too small to push noxus back so they need to force a freldord,Iona, demacia hugbox or the game just ends.
Demacia is actually the military powerhouse of the setting, they also have the best land and natural defenses out of all the other factions, Noxus only really has its sheer size going for it and being too big to fail because they hold the equivalent of turbo-Constantinopole as their capital

      Also keked at the picture

What's the current cannon that explains how a c**t with a gun can go against a God?

      Anonymous

      He's a c**t and he has a gun.
At least that's how the old lore would handle it. He probably has some tragic backstory about unfulfilled love/revenge/both that superpowers him

I think you are missing the point.
        >old lore
        In old lore rune magic was above everything else, hence -> fighting it out through summoning avatars of champions (rune magic powered) in the field of justice as an alternative to world getting glassed/shattered;

So you got that part wrong and didn't even answer how the current lore handles beings of disproportional strength going up against each other which was the core of the question.

If you don't have an answer why reply in the first place, homosexual?

league of legends has always and will always be cheap anime-tier slop

original dota, heroes of newerth, and dota ii are all superior games thematically, graphically, and gameplay/skill-wise and i will vouch for all the others being superior to [[>>>>'loL' )as well (without having played any and without having the intention to do so)

    you have been served,,
    later losers
