unironically it's highly filtering. also, relegating the story to manuals and others stuff outside of the vidyas is moronic. pity because eg the whole drama betweein lau chan, pai chan and lei-fei is pretty kino
This. I'd love if VF6 would go back to uneaven arenas seeing as they were the first ones to do it properly in VF3 -- 2 years before DoA2 and 7 years before Tekken 4. It's like Itagaki said once: >shame that after VF3 they went back to the basics instead of continuing being the ground-breaking franchise that it constantly had been.
He also trashed Tekken 4 due to being so late to the party and it yet executed it so badly.
with DoA most likely dead and MK probably never returning to the DeceptionShaolin Monks actual-3D arenas, the spot is open. But tbh they'll probably look at Tekken that never was ahead of the curve and how it keeps selling like hotcakes so they'll won't go that extra step and will keep being a variation of Korean Backdash-3D
>presentation is absolute shit
The presentation is fine, it looks better than tekken >He says that deep down it's a deep and technical fighting game
One he obviously didn't bother to learn since it's too complicated for him because he's a moron and there's no mechanics like rage to save his ass like in tekken >dead franchise
Literally had a new game released last June, (You) try again, it may not be the biggest series but it's a quality game nonetheless
yeah and DoA7 probably wont be a thing too and yet it still mogs the stale af Tekken which keeps churning out iterations. you never played VF so you dunno what it offers.
Every one of these combos is actually piss easy. Still, some of Akira moves are hard as frick to perform consistently, like 1 frame knee or guard break of doom
Project X Zone was pretty interesting. You actually had the Street Fighter, Tekken, and Virtua Fighter characters in the same universe. Somehow, those characters had never fought at that point.
Heck, it took until the Sequel for characters from there to fight, and it was a 3 on 3 on 3 duel. Jin, Ryu, and Akira on one side, Heihachi, Ken, and Chris Redfield on the other, and Kazuya, Kazuma Kiryu, and Phoenix Wright on the last.

I have hopes for it, to be honest. I think it will be a surprise game announcement anytime soon. Bamco is finished with SRW 30, the Xenoblade series is just getting DLC now. Surely they have time for Project X Zone now!
Hard game, many moves, much technical
Most characters lack visual impact or flashy moves
Is there even a plot? I've played more than half the series and I don't even know. Fight Dural though - this featureless model with funny texture effects.
The latest release was a bomb that had one job (netcode) and they fricked it up while removing most of the customization content (Not that this matters if nobody plays it to begin with.)
Shit job with advertising, too. If you weren't alive during the early Sega days then you probably only know this series as "That minigame from the Yakuza series."
I like the series but the answer to "What went wrong?" is basically "Everything."
>Is there even a plot?
the main one is mostly around kage-maru, the J6 and their project Dural (kidnapping his mother). the other characters have their own shit going on, some complex like lau chan and others more simple like jeffry's eternal battle with the giant shark for his comfy boat.
it's mostly relegated to the manuals and side-stuff; never the main focus in the games outside of short intros and endings
VF and it's fans really deserve each other. Put any VF gay in charge of the franchise and they'll just take the exact same game, upscale it to 4k. And when the game and franchise fails again for the 100th time he can just lay back, eat oysters and listen to edith piaf while smelling his own farts and proclaim that "the game is just too technical". The fans of this series are its biggest enemies. Just give it to anyone at this point. Say frick the fans and do something radical with the series. If it fails it'll just be another failiure like a traditional release would be.
>making shit up
most fans want different stuff on top of its technicality which is rn what defines it the most, eg this anon
This. I'd love if VF6 would go back to uneaven arenas seeing as they were the first ones to do it properly in VF3 -- 2 years before DoA2 and 7 years before Tekken 4. He also trashed Tekken 4 due to being so late to the party and it yet executed it so badly.
. now go ahead and apply the same reasoning to the tekken franchise and its fans, which gobble up the most stale fighting vidya out there nonstop
>presentation is absolute shit
The presentation is fine, it looks better than tekken >He says that deep down it's a deep and technical fighting game

Literally had a new game released last June, (You) try again, it may not be the biggest series but it's a quality game nonetheless
>keeps bringing up Tekken for no reason at all
Seems like Vgays are seething and coping for decades
Because they refused to make it more appealing. It looks incredibly janky, especially when doing combos. There is a reason why Tekken added bound and later screw. Also this comes from someone who actually likes VF, I have great memories of playing VF4 at a local arcade after football practice. When I showed my fighting game mates (whom all play other games) the latest VF game, they bursted out laughing as to how stupid it looks. This is not how you sell copies, no matter how legendary or deep your game series is. I think KoFXV also partly suffered from this poor presentation. That game isn't necessarily ugly but they really fricked up the particle effects. Just take a screenshot of Joe Higashi's tornadoes and try to sell that to a normie gamer.
and honestly, im suprised there is no virtua fighter collection especially in this new age of retro releases. same for daytona and fricking virtua racing
its honestly starting to piss me off how incomptent sega is being this gen. i would ask more from companies like konami but knowing they dont give a shit makes it easier not to expect anything
Because it has no memorable characters
Also a lot of people as adults pick up fighting games because they had it as children as a party game where they just smashed buttons.
No idea why Virtual Fighter wasn't a popular fighting game for children but that's part of why Tekken, SF and especially smash are popular as competitive games
>no memorable characters
akira, kage and dural. hell dural is still one of the better looking final bosses in fighters and shes pretty much a ninja with t-1000 powers
Because it has no memorable characters

they tried to push esports for vf5us but really its just vf5fs ps3/360 with even less content and new graphics.
ranked is useless and it was supposed to be the selling point.
they don't show wired/wireless indicators, so you're going to lose to dumb shit in the higher ranks.
i'll play it if it comes to steam, but I'm not going to boot up my ps4 in 2022 because some sony exclusivity deal lol
whats even sadder is that you can play the exact same game on ps3 with free online right now.
I emulate the ps3 version just for lazy training sometimes.
>it's boring >it's not flashy enough
I don't really understand this, are fg gays not martial arts fans or something? They don't appreciate the grounded style and well done attack animations that are accurste to the characters' styles?
If it weren't for how ridiculous characters look getting juggled it would be like watching a kung fu movie, the gameplay would suffer though.
i want to try more fighting games. so far ive only played
- bloody roar 2, 4
- tekken 4, 5, 6, 7, tag 2
- mortal kombat 2011
- virtua fighter 3 (in Yakuza Kiwami 1 or 2 they had it)
2d fighters have not clicked with me yet but i am quite willing to try. i think i will get sf6 when that comes out. any anons can recommend fighters?
Try out Power Stone 2, MK Deception, Tobal 2 (with eng patch) and if you want more realistic duels maybe Hellish Quart?
Oh fugg you havent played DoA5LR? Get to it m8
Okay we've had the "presentation is fine", the "sound effects are fine", the "character designs are fine" cultists already. These guys are too deep down the VF rabbit hole to see why this franchise is dead. Leave these guys in charge of VF and it'll stay dead.
To you VF fans who actually cares about this franchise and want to see it grow. What changes would you make to see the next game grow in popularity, gain new players and gain a hype train? And I'm not only talking about the oh so scary casual players. There are plenty of mid tier and highly technical fgc players who gives zero fricks about VF. I'm genuinely interested in your responses.
This. I'd love if VF6 would go back to uneaven arenas seeing as they were the first ones to do it properly in VF3 -- 2 years before DoA2 and 7 years before Tekken 4. You clearly haven't read the thread. Many already gave their 2 cents and most werent doubling down on stagnation
Years from VF to VF5:13
Years from VF5 to now:16
Damn we been waiting 16 fricking years, come the frick on Sega.
unironically it's highly filtering. also, relegating the story to manuals and others stuff outside of the vidyas is moronic. pity because eg the whole drama betweein lau chan, pai chan and lei-fei is pretty kino

The same answer as every failed/dead Sega IP.
Sega is incompetent.
block button is stupid
block button in a 3d fighting game is fricking moronic
Negative, you should try getting good.
>EVERY FIGHTING GAME MUST BE X
obvious tekken player
you know street fighter v is push back to block too right?
and Tekken is still alive and more popular than ever.
seethe
>block button in a 3d fighting game is fricking moronic
disagree. it makes more sense in a 3d fighter than it does a 2d one
It's all explained here
Damn, these sound effects
>heavily biased tekkengay gets filtered to hell and back
>game must bad
Why does anyone listen to this homosexual?
He says that deep down it's a deep and technical fighting game but the presentation is absolute shit. Try again virtuagay. Enjoy your dead franchise.
>presentation is absolute shit
The presentation is fine, it looks better than tekken

>Hella Scrubman
go back
Masku
>PS4 Only
>Has Racist Netcode instead of Rollback
it's better as dead franchise than a corpse they will rape like with PSO and Sonic
Because once the "woah, 3d graphics!? it looks so real" fad was over, it never had anything beyond that.
moron
virtua fighter 6 any day now...
yeah and DoA7 probably wont be a thing too and yet it still mogs the stale af Tekken which keeps churning out iterations. you never played VF so you dunno what it offers.
Still waiting for a drm free VF5
>and akira yuki is actually one of the harder to master
mastered Akira is an absolute beast
>jūnen hayainda yo!
>webm
beautiful. needs the track
God this looks so bad. It's so slow and rigid
Every one of these combos is actually piss easy. Still, some of Akira moves are hard as frick to perform consistently, like 1 frame knee or guard break of doom
I wish they would put that 5 update on switch. Would be great to have on a handheld. What's their problem? Is ps4 only. Sony paid for exclusivety?
>Is ps4 only. Sony paid for exclusivety?
I've heard they were planning for pc port a while ago, but nothing more than that
the characters don't have any appeal, that's why they tried to go more anime in 4 with Goh and Vanessa
>the characters don't have any appeal
the same characters don't die numerous times nor cry like absolute homosexuals which ofc irks the normie.
Well hello there, Mr. Cool Pants
sup
>TFW The first time Tekken and VF crossed over......it was in an RPG.
Where is pxz3?
it'll be a pachinko
Good. Keep your dead sega games out of my Tekken.
Project X Zone was pretty interesting. You actually had the Street Fighter, Tekken, and Virtua Fighter characters in the same universe. Somehow, those characters had never fought at that point.

I have hopes for it, to be honest. I think it will be a surprise game announcement anytime soon. Bamco is finished with SRW 30, the Xenoblade series is just getting DLC now. Surely they have time for Project X Zone now!
Because it's not very good. Let's be honest, this is the only explanation.
because tekken series are far more superior
Elitism leads to complacency. Complacency leads to stagnancy. Stagnancy leads to death.
tekken isn't stagnant?
No. But Virtue Fighter IS stagnant.
Hard game, many moves, much technical
Most characters lack visual impact or flashy moves

Frick that

I'm not the one with a dead franchise though.

Because it's boring. There are better fighting games. The controls are too janky. The characters look dumb or just generic as frick.
are there any plans to bring this to the pc?
and honestly, im suprised there is no virtua fighter collection especially in this new age of retro releases. same for daytona and fricking virtua racing
>same for daytona and fricking virtua racing
same for fricking panzer dragoon. imagine the on-rails collection plus saga
its honestly starting to piss me off how incomptent sega is being this gen. i would ask more from companies like konami but knowing they dont give a shit makes it easier not to expect anything

would that include planet harrier?
>planet harriers
why tf not, it would be a cool bonus along with panzer mini
so many tekkengays ITT admitting it sells because it placates to normies
>inb4 a-at least i-it's selling
lmao cucksoomer
It's just because it's B-tier in quality. It doesn't feel fluid and responsive to play, it feels like a slavic clone of a real fighting game
Sega
Because it has no memorable characters

they were all raised on DBZ so if it doesnt features an overdrawn special from a spiky-haired half-human, then it ain't a fighting game for them.
I do, but I'm a genetic freak and I'm not normal.
no sex appeal
it features the original nina williams tho
I would rather franchises stay dead than go on with this troony shit like street fighter.
It was made by Sega. Everything they make since 2003 is shit
i want to try more fighting games. so far ive only played
