Why would people prefer AMD graphics cards for gaming?

I keep hearing positive things from them but after doing a bit of research it seems to me the only positive about AMD graphics cards is the price. In terms of performance Nvidia is just way better especially with DLSS and Frame generation. It's also more likely to me that Nvidia will keep improving DLSS more than AMD can improve FSR

Intel and Nvidia also just works on Linux now, at least for rasterization. GPU computing you install the propietary drivers for Nvidia, and that's it, no matter what you do, you can't do shit with rocm/hip, which you need to install extra packages anyway, so no ootb shitty gpu computing experience on AMD anyway.
Intel is going to take over AMD's radeon market share at this rate.

        >Intel and Nvidia also just works on Linux now
The drivers are nowhere near as mature, or well supported as RadV is. Intel's hardware is also still not up to par with what AMD offers.

IDK because I haven’t really bothered with any of that stuff yet.
I also don’t really consider any of the current cards to be worthy of AI because they’ll always come out with better cards eventually.
Getting exited about current cards for AI is like getting exited for Raytracing back in the day with 20 series RTX cards.
Yeah it’s all flashy and new now in the moment.
But in a few years the 40 series will be irrelevant old beta tester kit for AI just like the 20 series became irrelevant old beta tester kit for RT.

They're cheaper for the mid-range gamers, but if you need to do high-end computing (especially AI), nvidia just mogs AMD due to their superior software (DLSS, framegen, shadowplay etc.)

You just have to accept that AMD being best at cheap rasterization is not really a huge advantage as you may think of, NVIDIA is clearly moving on to a bigger industry and AMD's market share on consumer computers is just not as big for them now.
For example, people think AMD is competing with FSR against Nvidia's DLSS, when in reality FSR competes against NIS, whihc Nvidia released in 2022 and has not updated at all, still FSR manages to be worse.
AMD is a great choice for most of consumer grade computers, their APUs were huge progress in user's quality of life, and AMD should become the defacto reference for basic computing.
But if you want to do real computing, you get Intel and/or Nvidia. Anything serious computer specialized use case will require it. So I'm not saying you're wrong, but the debate itself is, because these are companies that are not long completely fighting for the same market anymore, even if they still overlap in some sections though.
