For me it’s less about charging your controller during a single play session and more about being able to pick up where you left off a prior play session and not having to deal with a dead controller

      Wiiu:
      Super Mario 3d World
      Captain toad
      Bayonetta 2
      W101
      Tropical Freeze
      Fatal Frame
      Mario Maker

Nowhere near that and it'll slowly lose capacity over time. Xbox controller plus pic related means no downtime while the batteries charge, longer overall lifespan and you can spend a few bucks on a new set of batteries when they finally start losing capacity after literally years.

They last a frickton of time, I've had mine for years and they still hold charge completely. It feels good knowing my controller won't just stop working at random and have to source some Chinese knockoff proprietary battery

        Anonymous

They're incredibly reliable, hold charge for a very long time even when off the charger (many batteries lose charge when not in use,) they come with a smart charger that stops charging the batteries when they're full which means they get worn down less over time and are well priced for their quality.

You can get the Amazon Basics which I think are or were rebranded Eneloops and are a little cheaper but check reviews cause I remember seeing something about them moving to a less reliable battery a couple years ago. I prefer name brand because you buy them once and generally don't need to buy again for several years so the couple bucks you might save by buying lesser batteries isn't worth it when you consider the name brand will likely last far longer.

        Anonymous

they're made in japan so they actually last, I've had the same 8 since 2014 that I use daily
I heard some newer batches were chink made though but I read that back in 2021

DS4 is good but yeah the PS4 gamepads apparently have god awful battery life. I was thinking about getting one but frick it seems bad.
Xbone is overall the best but I really like the touchpad on my DS4, it's great for pc gaming having all those additional functions. And gyro.

It has decent battery life, you can turn off the light, the track pad has multiple functions you can use for binds, and the rest is just unlucky nitpicks probably caused by you.

ds4 feels fine, better than the dualsense, but it is the first controller I've ever owned to just stop working one day and obviously it's from its shitty battery burning out

Trooth Bombz "THE AUTHENTIC MEME" from /asp/

The Switch controller has gyro, hd rumble, and an NFC sensor. It's a very noticeable step down from the WiiU's battery life but I can't even make it through one session on my PS5 without needing a recharge. I know I could turn the triggers and the lights off but then why the frick did I pay for them in the first place? I must insist on my goof faux-future features.

The lights are a burden, and a big one at that. If you take out the light from a DS4, the battery time amost doubles. DS5 on the other hand has those triggers to worry about and a light, so that's another 10 hours of battery life going down the drain.

  9. 10 months ago
    Anonymous

Yep. It's because Nintendo used the same battery as they did for the 3DS for the WiiU pro controller since there was plenty of stock. Because of that they put a (comparatively) huge 1,200 mAh cell into the controller which wasn't doing anything particularly fancy (i.e. no 6axis like playstation had). The end result was a big battery with low pwer draw which led to really good endurance.
