Since switching to Xbox the one thing that I love most is not ever having to worry about charging my controller. With ps4 I was constantly charging it even while playing.
For me it’s less about charging your controller during a single play session and more about being able to pick up where you left off a prior play session and not having to deal with a dead controller
Unironically wrong. Without counting next generation remakes, the exclusives at that time that werent ported to pc
Wiiu:
Super Mario 3d World
Captain toad
Bayonetta 2
W101
Tropical Freeze
Fatal Frame
Mario Maker
Mario kart 8
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Splatoon
Sm4sh
Pikmin 3
Ps4:
Bloodborne
Wii u was the better console. And no, I didnt have either of them. Im a pc chad.
Nowhere near that and it'll slowly lose capacity over time. Xbox controller plus pic related means no downtime while the batteries charge, longer overall lifespan and you can spend a few bucks on a new set of batteries when they finally start losing capacity after literally years.
They last a frickton of time, I've had mine for years and they still hold charge completely. It feels good knowing my controller won't just stop working at random and have to source some Chinese knockoff proprietary battery
They're incredibly reliable, hold charge for a very long time even when off the charger (many batteries lose charge when not in use,) they come with a smart charger that stops charging the batteries when they're full which means they get worn down less over time and are well priced for their quality.
You can get the Amazon Basics which I think are or were rebranded Eneloops and are a little cheaper but check reviews cause I remember seeing something about them moving to a less reliable battery a couple years ago. I prefer name brand because you buy them once and generally don't need to buy again for several years so the couple bucks you might save by buying lesser batteries isn't worth it when you consider the name brand will likely last far longer.
they're made in japan so they actually last, I've had the same 8 since 2014 that I use daily
I heard some newer batches were chink made though but I read that back in 2021
DS4 is good but yeah the PS4 gamepads apparently have god awful battery life. I was thinking about getting one but frick it seems bad.
Xbone is overall the best but I really like the touchpad on my DS4, it's great for pc gaming having all those additional functions. And gyro.
It has decent battery life, you can turn off the light, the track pad has multiple functions you can use for binds, and the rest is just unlucky nitpicks probably caused by you.
ds4 feels fine, better than the dualsense, but it is the first controller I've ever owned to just stop working one day and obviously it's from its shitty battery burning out
>open battery lid >remove batteries >get up >walk to the charger on the socket >remove charged batteries >insert dead batteries >go back to couch
insert batteries >close lid
VS >plug usb cord >continue playing while it's charging
What fricking downtime? Why do people keep using that stupid ritual as an argument for the xbox controller whenever the topic comes up?
Unironically though how the frick does nintendo do it? Even the shitch pro controller lasts for like 100 hours, is nintendo doing something right or is sony just doing something incredibly wrong?
It's kinda funny how nintendo always had good battery life no matter what gimmicks they had, and they were all comfortable. Sony adds a single dim light and the gamepad is fricked after 3 hours. In 2023, soon to be 2024, sony is still making a gamepad that dies in one sitting and feels like shit
DS4 is good but yeah the PS4 gamepads apparently have god awful battery life. I was thinking about getting one but frick it seems bad.
Xbone is overall the best but I really like the touchpad on my DS4, it's great for pc gaming having all those additional functions. And gyro.
The DS4 is fricking awful
On top of the shit tier battery life, stupid light you can't turn off, and shitty track pad its one of the flimsiest pieces of crap on the planet. I have had to replace the charging ports on them multiple times, issues with stick drift, had the options/trigger buttons just shit out randomly
It's trash
It has decent battery life, you can turn off the light, the track pad has multiple functions you can use for binds, and the rest is just unlucky nitpicks probably caused by you.

>It has decent battery life

Last I checked you can dim it, you can't turn it off while using a ps4 anyway. Not sure about pc

>you can turn off the light
Uh no. You can "dim" it down from BRIGHT AS THE FRICKING SUN to STILL UNREASONABLY BRIGHT and thats it. Hate these shitty pads. t. ps4 long hauler
I played a ton of ark survival on ps4 so I had very long sessions. At one point I just said "frick it" and only played while the controller was hooked up to a long charging cable. The sad thing is how bad the DS4 is compared to the competition when it was hands down the best sony gamepad.
The Switch controller has gyro, hd rumble, and an NFC sensor. It's a very noticeable step down from the WiiU's battery life but I can't even make it through one session on my PS5 without needing a recharge. I know I could turn the triggers and the lights off but then why the frick did I pay for them in the first place? I must insist on my goof faux-future features.
I'd trade all of it to have PS2 pressure sensitive buttons back.
>It's a very noticeable step down from the WiiU's battery life
yet is still multiple days of playing on one charge
meanwhile all snoy has is useless annoying lights, mic to spy on you and encrypted firmware
>stop playing soulsshit
huh?
soulsshit is where the controller starts behaving weirdly for me, both making the game randomly minimise if wired and full screen and disconnect out of nowhere
The lights are a burden, and a big one at that. If you take out the light from a DS4, the battery time amost doubles. DS5 on the other hand has those triggers to worry about and a light, so that's another 10 hours of battery life going down the drain.
Yep. It's because Nintendo used the same battery as they did for the 3DS for the WiiU pro controller since there was plenty of stock. Because of that they put a (comparatively) huge 1,200 mAh cell into the controller which wasn't doing anything particularly fancy (i.e. no 6axis like playstation had). The end result was a big battery with low pwer draw which led to really good endurance.
My og 3ds battery from 2012 is still totally fine. My vita battery is in way worse shape despite being like 5 years younger, my psp battery has exploded multiple times, dsi one is kinda shitting out while my ds lite is perfect which is great for nearly 20 years
Get one of this, it has both xinput and dinput. I've been using it for years on PC and works perfectly, rumble and all. And yes, the battery life on that thing is eternal.
i've been using this controller for pc gaming for a decade
it's the single best controller i've ever used
i should probably look into buying a replacement for when this one dies since i doubt they're being manufactured any more
If you think that's bad the PS5 controller has double the battery life of the PS4 controller.
PS4 controller would last 5 hours, but really only 3-4 because that's when the warnings start screaming at you to charge the stupid thing.
my wireless K400 keyboard lasts easily a year with two cheap AA batteries.
What is that makes controllers suck so much power?
Only analog sticks come to mind. But a Mouse does constant movement polling too.
This only leaves rumble
Not only it lasts a week or two but it's also near immortal unlike dualturd 4 which not only dies in 3 hours but looks like it was used in a fricking mcdonalds for a decade with only a few years of use. Dualtrash 4 is literally the only controller i ever needed multiple of, rest of them just werk forever or with minimal maintenance
wii u pro + analog triggers, Hal sticks, and proper gyro would be the greatest controller
as it is it's still my main and preferred controller for everything but flight sims
Yes, the wii u gamepad uses this really powerful special battery since it drinks power to use the screen, and they decided to just use the same battery for the wii u pro controller instead of using a different battery. This results in a pro control that lasts 80 hours, I once beat three wii u games in a row on just one charge.
>full size standard mobile phone battery >weak rumble >no analog >proprietary bluetooth
yep. seriously though just using a standard mobile battery was a brilliant idea and I don't know why other manufacturers didn't follow suit.
oh wait. money.
This controller is good for everything except shooters cause of those stick placements. Its genuinely my favorite controller, comfortable to hold and not have to worry about the battery, Only thing I would change would be the shitty triggers.
Very nice. Now let's see dual sense 4 battery life
probably like 10 hours or something. you'd have to be fricked in the head to play that long in the forest without charging wall sockets anyway
Since switching to Xbox the one thing that I love most is not ever having to worry about charging my controller. With ps4 I was constantly charging it even while playing.
For me it’s less about charging your controller during a single play session and more about being able to pick up where you left off a prior play session and not having to deal with a dead controller
6 hours from personal experience.
Switch Pro controller can go days without a recharge.
You can get better battery life with a 3rd party PC controller and some fancy batteries.
battery life is always fake
it doesn't last near 80h
yeah, it's more like 150 hours. Only have to charge it 3 times a year.
>80 hours
>No games worth playing
Yep, wii u time.
Homebrew skullgirls port, it Wii U (and 3DS) showtime!
Keep seething, Erictroony
>it can last 80h because there is nothing to play on it
>80h is the discharge speed when sitting idle on a shelf
>Not using Wii U Pro as your main PC controller
I haven't been tempted to buy a new controller for my PC in 10 years, it's just too good.
I use mine on Steam Deck, its pretty sweet
Ever heard of a game called Breath of the Wild? Mario Kart 8 maybe?
Unironically wrong. Without counting next generation remakes, the exclusives at that time that werent ported to pc
Wiiu:
Super Mario 3d World
Captain toad
Bayonetta 2
W101

Wii u was the better console. And no, I didnt have either of them. Im a pc chad.
There's a reason why Cemu was so popular, people actually wanted to play Wii U games. Bayo 2 alone made a ton of people get Cemu
>forgetting BotW
Don't fall for the Switchlets revisionist history, it was always a Wii U title
That they destroyed to favor the switch
It was never exclusive.
frick me when is XCX getting a switch port?
I'm still holding out hope, they are interested in doing one but money is what's holding them back apparently.
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Wario Land Shake dimension
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
...
Hush.
>snoy controllers have a shorter lifespan than nintendo controllers
kek
Is backwards compatible with Switch?
I don't think so but I've never tried, switch pro is still much better than the playstation controllers though
there's adapters you can get. unfortunately you can't wake it up from sleep with the controller, but it's still 1000% worth it
Nowhere near that and it'll slowly lose capacity over time. Xbox controller plus pic related means no downtime while the batteries charge, longer overall lifespan and you can spend a few bucks on a new set of batteries when they finally start losing capacity after literally years.
What's special about these anyway? I always see people specifically shill these when mentioning getting rechargeable batteries.
>standard battery size
>rechargeable
>easy to use
The only downside is the cost but if you get quality then it’s a non issue.
Ikea LADA 2450mAh are pretty much the same in capacity and lifecycle if you're looking to save a buck or 6.
Made in Japan instead of China.
Japan knows rechargeable batteries.
They last a frickton of time, I've had mine for years and they still hold charge completely. It feels good knowing my controller won't just stop working at random and have to source some Chinese knockoff proprietary battery

The battery life is insanely longer and the time period after the low battery warning is also longer.
>you are now bound by wire
That’s why
Can be solved if you have 2 of the same controller, so one is always plugged in while you're using the other one.
Or with rechargeable batteries lmao enjoy your snoyslop
So THAT'S why they called them "dual".
>That'll just be another $150 goyi-I mean sir
:^)
>half the price of a brand new controller
lol and lmao
>lasts longer than 4 hours
This kills the snoy
Unironically though how the frick does nintendo do it? Even the shitch pro controller lasts for like 100 hours, is nintendo doing something right or is sony just doing something incredibly wrong?
sony controllers have gyro and a touchpad plus lights, I guess that has something to do with it

3ds battery sucks. ages old dsi battery works fine. 3ds battery dies in 10 minutes.
My og 3ds battery from 2012 is still totally fine. My vita battery is in way worse shape despite being like 5 years younger, my psp battery has exploded multiple times, dsi one is kinda shitting out while my ds lite is perfect which is great for nearly 20 years
I wish this worked wired with pc. It only works with Bluetooth
Why do you need it wired ?
Bluetooth has lag compared to wired
The Nintendo rechargeable controllers have great battery life. The Switch Pro controller does about 40 hours and the Joy-Con do about 20 hours.
I wish Sega would design a modern controller and put it out for PC. You can be sure it would be a great controller.
I just got my wiiu controller out from attic now and it still has a charge and I havent used it in over a year lol
Does it work on pc? does the rumble work for steam games? I still have mine but I never thought of using it
Get one of this, it has both xinput and dinput. I've been using it for years on PC and works perfectly, rumble and all. And yes, the battery life on that thing is eternal.
works on Switch with a Magic Ns adatpter thats $20. Same for PC
Playing Devils Third with the wii u pro controller. Game is awesome. A case of people never playing the game and just parroting israelitetubers
What's funny is that both Wii U and Switch Pro Controllers are using 3DS batteries. Nintendo just has a mountain of them sitting in a warehouse
My Wii U pro controller has stick drift, anyone have any luck fixing it before?
The controller sucks though. I don't care how long it lasts.
i've been using this controller for pc gaming for a decade
it's the single best controller i've ever used
i should probably look into buying a replacement for when this one dies since i doubt they're being manufactured any more
do you use it with a blutooth adaptor? I tried using mine but it had no rumble
I use this: https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Wireless-Wii-Controller-Adapter/dp/B00E6553PW/
Never had an issue with rumble not working
I've been fricking singing its praises since day 1
helps that I like the stick placement
that's 80x more than an average dualnonsense5
If you think that's bad the PS5 controller has double the battery life of the PS4 controller.
PS4 controller would last 5 hours, but really only 3-4 because that's when the warnings start screaming at you to charge the stupid thing.
It uses a 3DS battery that doesn't have to power 2 or 3 screens and a processor.
Meanwhile the WiiU gamepad lasts maybe 2 hours if you're lucky.
Is that meant to be impressive? Most gaming mice from the past 5 years last that long on a charge, and they're a fifth of the weight.
>a laser pointer has a lot of battery life
No shit
my wireless K400 keyboard lasts easily a year with two cheap AA batteries.
What is that makes controllers suck so much power?
Only analog sticks come to mind. But a Mouse does constant movement polling too.
This only leaves rumble
I turn rumble off when I can. Its overrated.
Each time I have to charge the fricking thing I have to look for the cable because it's always months between each charge. Best controller for pc btw
When I use blutooth controllers on my pc it disconnects randomly.
stop playing soulsshit
snoy can't sell games so they try selling controllers instead
>stop playing soulsshit
huh?
Not only it lasts a week or two but it's also near immortal unlike dualturd 4 which not only dies in 3 hours but looks like it was used in a fricking mcdonalds for a decade with only a few years of use. How the frick does Nintendo do it lol. why can't Snoy just copy them
wii u pro + analog triggers, Hal sticks, and proper gyro would be the greatest controller
as it is it's still my main and preferred controller for everything but flight sims
Would you buy a modern SEGA designed controller for PC?
No.
I never liked that controller or any sega controller really. And I consider myself a sefa fanboy, I still play and support pso2 ngs
If Nintendo were not jap israelites they would let you use the wiiu pro controller with the switch
I like the gamepad. It's comfy having the map on a separate screen
The Wii U Pro is a great controller. Recently picked up a Mayflash adaptor so I can use it with my Switch and PC. Totally worth it.
>so I can use it with my Switch
hack your switch and it works natively
Yes, the wii u gamepad uses this really powerful special battery since it drinks power to use the screen, and they decided to just use the same battery for the wii u pro controller instead of using a different battery. This results in a pro control that lasts 80 hours, I once beat three wii u games in a row on just one charge.
I beat the entirety of botw doing all 120 shrines on wiiu back at launch on one charge of the pro controller lol.
Zoomer frickin shits.
i have a similar pile of eneloops
my gbros adapter lasts like 5 hours with a Wii Pro Controller on AAs
I'll take the Wii U Pro's insanely long battery life any day thanks
I do not miss batteries. Last time i used batteries for gaming shit was the Wii remote. I had a charging dock, but never used it.
Doesn't really matter whenever your Sex controller inevitably drifts or get double input errors.
>full size standard mobile phone battery
>weak rumble
>no analog
>proprietary bluetooth
yep. seriously though just using a standard mobile battery was a brilliant idea and I don't know why other manufacturers didn't follow suit.
oh wait. money.
No rumble, no gryo.
79 more hours than a Steam Deck?!
Does it work with windows 10?
I bought one of those 8bitdo wireless adaptors and I just use my pro controller for my PC now. Good stuff.
This controller is good for everything except shooters cause of those stick placements. Its genuinely my favorite controller, comfortable to hold and not have to worry about the battery, Only thing I would change would be the shitty triggers.
The buttons on mine kind of stick too, if I had to complain about something. Good controller regardless, just not perfect.
Wii U is godlike. Always has been.
Good thing I have three white ones for $20. It even came with the WiiU console, but no gamepad.
