I'd rather go back to 7 than use troony shit like linux
>Id rather eat shit from Microsoft than be free
The second the FBI wants a back door into windows 3.1 Microsoft will release an update for it even if it's 2023
>I'd rather use a working product than some half-finished troony shit that puts politics above being usable
Yes
The fbi already have a backdoor through your cpu if you use anything from intel. they don't need microshits help.
~~*FBI*~~
If your computer contains any CPU made in the last 25 years you are already backdoored.
No shut up. We're totally free with Linux xir.
You cretin, if you have Internet connection of any sort, your service provider has access to so much information that they hide it from the governments of the countries they operate in, in order to not be swamped with red tape and additional procedures. No VPN or Tor protects you - they can pinpoint the location of your Internet connection even if you use either/both.
>t. work for a massive telecommunication company
No they can't. Your ISP knows nothing about your packets once they leave their network.
as a troony those are the two quintessential options
Oh no no no.
>I am a two spirit
>oh yeah my other spirit is a queen slay, not the far more likely more mundane people
yeah.
Actually I think they just call her Two Spirit because she's obese.
That's the "brings plenty" part, thoughever.
You seem awfully ready to hand over linux to the trannies.
That laptop got fricked with until it bricked. Same with the previous one. So no more windows 7
This is all it takes for you people to give up? You know you can install any operating system you damn well please right?
Yeah wait until a zero click 0 day wrecks you in the future
retro doesn't come online till 20 years
for me it's linux mint
I'm still on Windows 7 though.
>linux
>upgrade
i will never run out of jp vns and nes/snes/n64/ps1/ps2/ps3/xbawx/xbwax360 and indy pixelshit games so why the frick would i stop using win7. i have literally played noita every single day since its release. i am powered by pure autism and will never upgrade. when this ancient pc gasps its final breath, i will intentionally seek out win7 tier hardware and create a new win7 machine.
>i have literally played noita every single day since its release.
i kneel
oh look time for the daily cope of w7 users
which ganoo/loonix distro is best for windowsbabbies? I've been using 7 all this time but I'd rather become a freetard than switch to 10. I'm a brainlet so I don't want to have to type in the console a lot.
>I'm a brainlet so I don't want to have to type in the console a lot
you're not going to have a good time on any distro
now a better question is why you're so scared of typing words on a keyboard
I'm too lazy to learn all of the commands. also it reminds me of when I was a little kid with ms dos and needing my dad to use the console to launch my shitty edutainment games.
Just google commands and copypaste them. There are like at worst 10 commands that you need and 80-90% of the time it would be 'sudo *package manager* install *program_name* -y'
not him but too much bother
>which ganoo/loonix distro is best for windowsbabbies?
Nobara handles everything for you and is moron proof. It also comes with all the nessecary things out of the box for streaming/content creation. Mint is also a really good choice for beginners and hard to break, but if you want something beyond the basics of "it just werkz" you're gonna be doing some googling.
No Ubuntu/PopOS/Garuda/Manjaro shit. The only Arch based distro you should be using is Arch with Archinstall. And if you don't know what that means, then stick to the above two recommendations.
I'm honestly worried about having to install Linux at some point in future because Win10 will stop being supported and 11 is complete failure at every level. I once was using Mint on my work PC and in the end installed Windows 7 because I was spending more time trying to figure out why this or that software refuses to work than doing actual work.
Just get xubuntu
When I used Mint a Steam update somehow broke Steam and the package manager. When LinusTechTips did that Linux video PopOS immediately shit itself. The Linux experience.
Today in things that never happened: your post.
just don't upgrade ever again, windows fricked up and now there is a lot of fragmentalization
For regular shit like browsing (shitposting, watching videos, porn) it's not that different.
Games work pretty well with Proton/Steam.
Then you have things like Lutris which basically installs games from your accounts and has a bunch of installer options which may just stop working. For example I bought Songs of Conquest on GoG. Worked fine.
Wanted to reinstall it recently, but the installer shits out some error (if I launch the game after the successful installation, the game starts and runs fine) and then pretend the game wasn't installed.
Honestly, it reminds me of the Windows XP days where some random shit fricks something else up
Win11 is just Win10 but with a better file explorer
How will retrogays ever cope? Being retro is getting normalized.
WiiU is over 10 years old, it's basically retro now.
Like for real reasons or because of le ebin Ganker glowie memes?
I'm not going to continue using windows. I think our relationship is over. Microsoft is just too sketchy. I'm sketched out whenever I use the damn thing.
test
just wait till win 12.
also win 11 is fine
Non functional start menu and right click menu is fine?
I have no idea why are you gays so obsessed about start menu.
It's part of functionality, you dumbass. Not my fault that half of users leave it in default state, even leaving ads in.
you can adjust everything in the settings. TPM is a problem but easily bypassed if you know what you're doing. Functionally Win 11 is the same as Win 10 in terms of privacy violations only Win 11 works out of the box this time around.
Wrong. Right click menu is still locked behind "more options" bullshit for extra unnecessary clicking. Start menu can have disabled "suggestions" but it only leaves it with gaping empty space, icons are way too small and only display couple at once, again hiding rest under "show more" or however it was called.
I'm actually using my PC for something more than vidya or browsing internet, I can't stand all these drooling idiots claiming that 11 have "same functionality as 10". Not even close in 10%. Why you keep lying?
Because unlike morons like you, everyone else here just uses PC for vidya and browsing internet.
Everyone else is moronic then. Why should I care about their opinion?
Where's a best place to get offline updates for 7?
>even 8 is outdated now
Yeahhhh, I'm just not going to upgrade, haha. I'm just not going to use an OS full of adware and spyware that arbitrarily obsoletes itself, haha. Linux isn't actually bad at all, and I can just virtual machine anything that needs to use windows. It even has a cool penguin as a mascot instead of microsofts basement schizo who listens to you jerk off
>microsofts basement schizo who listens to you jerk off
brb downloading win11 on every device I own rn
>Windows 7
>no dx12
>outdated drivers with no modern Vulkan extension
>software developers dropping support
>b-but at least I'm not using troonyx
Windows 7 homosexuals are mindbroken
I moved to 10 only a few months ago (IOT LTSC). Decreasing software support was a big reason. It's not that bad, and there's some improvements, but the cracks are showing.
>no dx12
name 1 good game that only uses dx12 and can't be forced into dx11.
tell me how to get evil genius 2 to run on W7
>evil genius 2
>good
>retro
And still works in the modern day, even un-updated.
>Linux
No thanks, I play video games.
>I play video games
>no dx12
>outdated drivers
>whats dxvk
dxvk is for 9, 10 and 11. You're thinking of vkd3d you dork
Implying he would've know, like he playing games
>what is DXV...-ACK
False. There's a fork that strips the wine-specific bits out. That said, you're so used to being buttfricked by microshart I suppose the concept that people can fix their own shit is baffling.
>There's a fork that strips the wine-specific bits out.
What does wine have to do with this? Where you'll get Vulkan 1.3 capable driver on Windows fricking 7?
You have to use the 1.10.x branch and releases on 7 (which are still maintained, by the way.)
Yeah it is because with windows I don't need to do a damn thing, it just werks.
>don't know what DXVK is
>reading comprehension
trolling homosexual
I held out long as I could then downgraded to Win 10 for Elden Ring.
retro is 20 years, 2009 is more of a throwback
Why bother? The only games worth playing are compatible.
anything made after 2000 ill never be true retro.
Retro is a design philosophy. You mean its old.
Already did, back when XP lost support and I switched to 7, I saw the writing on the wall because 8 was already out so I started getting my feet wet with Linux too and fully switched a few years ago.
Well, I do keep a dual boot setup "just in case". These 8.3 hours come from trying out an Oculus Rift I borrowed for example.
yep
>gaming PC to Linux
so i can play all 12 games available to it?
Steam Deck is running on linux. You don't need to much brainpower to install proton.
Yes anon, I've seen the "not compatible with steam deck" tags on most steam games
i might buy an SSD and install linux on it if bannerlord got a linux version.
currently don't have the motivation or currency to frick with linux again.
i once tried a dual boot and almost lost my stuff when the grub somehow stopped working and i had to rebuild MBR for windows.
>i might buy an SSD and install linux on it if bannerlord got a linux version.
Bannerlord works perfectly on Linux even with anticheat
how does the game run? proton? wine?
and mods?
do you just copy and paste them in the modules folder?
Just download windows and forget about all that worrying lol
i already have windows 7 and the game works fine but i need to be ready when 7 is abandoned by all.
>which windows 7 should i use?
>just install windows 7 and it works
>which linux should i use?
>(several paragraphs of necessary explanations and mandatory command line inputs)
That was an easy decision.
Not exactly. If you have modern hardware you have to look into how to make a custom ISO with the drivers etc.
Also work out how to get your drivers to work (they all do other than Killer LAN).
>which linux should i use?
There's only one Linux: https://kernel.org/
You should use it
pretty much this
I am still on Win7 and tried to get some info of how RomeTW remaster work on linux on some of TW discords(yeah I know) and choose best distro for it, didn't get any info at all, nobody played it on linux
>which linux should i use?
This is actually a very simple question to answer these days: Nobara for gaming, Pop!_OS for casual desktop use or Arch if you like tinkering.
>which windows 7 should i use?
This is also easy to answer: none.
>Still a win7 holdout
>Want a couple games that are 10 exclusive, but I've so many games on my backlog as it it.
>plus, I mostly just play my 3 or so comfort games.
>Never have to fiddle with updates that frick other things that need patches that cause new bugs, etc.
I'll go until I can't anymore. They made perfection in 7.
Wait
Wait
There are some games that are w10 exclusive?
How, shouldn’t they all run in 7?
>There are some games that are w10 exclusive?
Dx12
Oh no now i have to upgrade
Only "true" DX12 games (more precisely anything that requires fully supported D3D11_1 and above), which is surprisingly rare even nowadays. Even after all these I can count the number of games one hand that I missed due to OS requirements.
with some extra files even PC tactics ogre work on win7
I did, it's not like I actually play games, I just shitpost
>linux
>gaming
no such thing and don't let the trannies mislead you, that's their only job in life.
keep coping pajeet
you WILL use Windows 11
you WILL be happy.
>have to beg for Linux support on every single game forum like some moronic serf
>updating your printer bricks your entire os, have to troubleshoot for 6 hours every other time you update a driver
But at least your worthless information is safe right? Heckin big brother will never know what shitty black and white asiatic scribbles you beat off to or what unfunny moe trash you watch 11 hours per day
>>have to beg for Linux support on every single game forum like some moronic serf
no, i just use proton and it just werks.
>have to beg for Linux support on every single game forum like some moronic serf
If you're stupid, yeah
>updating your printer bricks your entire os, have to troubleshoot for 6 hours every other time you update a driver
What the frick is a printer update?? Frick kind of futuristic printer do you have that requires updates?
>freeBSD
>AMD CPU
>AMD GPU
quickboos on wine when?
>trannix OS
>gaming
I would rather upgrade to Windows 7 than Linux, lmao.
This is Ganker, not Ganker.
Why is Linux still so bad? Why can't they replicate windows 7 or at least XP? That shit just works!
There's almost no point in making an exact copy of something. The people who want exactly Windows 7 will just use Windows 7, and OP is a dumb ass for advertising to normies what he should be gatekeeping from them.
Microsoft will eat the gaming industry. Buys everything. Just as Windows controls 90% of the operating system market, gp4gv40amepass will control 90% of the video game market. And then you will howl in despair. It will be late. You will pay and be silent, be silent and pay. Or sit without games.
>gamer, my son
>you can choose win10(or11) that street shitting pajeets code
>or you can choose Linux that men in knee high stripped socks that called themselves women code
>....
>Windows 7 happy noises
Can’t windows 7 just VM into windows 10
Yeah I upgraded from Windows XP to Slackware 12
Nowadays you can even game without issues on Linux but I've stopped playing video games by now
>win 7 is retro now
>now
Anon, Win7 is almost twice as old now as XP was when 7 came out.
I still have win7 but sooner or later it will be unusable. I have a spare computer where I can frick up as much as I want without losing anything of value, so I will use it as my practice machine. Which Linux version should I get for vidya, and what are some good resources to teach me how to use the thing?
>Which Linux version should I get for vidya
Nobara comes configured for gaming, so might as well go with that. Pick whichever desktop environment version you prefer.
>and what are some good resources to teach me how to use the thing?
Clicking "install" and "play" in Steam works for the majority. Look up Bottles and Lutris for the rest (check protondb/winehq to check if it works at all).
Mint usually just werks, unless you do something stupid, and overall looks and feels like windows, for better or for worse.
For resources idk, define "use". Usually if you get stack on something, look it up online, stack exchange-like sites have instructions how to do it. Bonus points if you actually look up what you did instead of just copying it.
For every command line tool, you can type man "toolname" or" toolname" -h in terminal. Linux Command Line and Shell Scripting Bible is a good book, if you need something more comprehensive.
Windows = straight
MacOS = gays
Any Linux distro = trans
you don't seem to know what "retro" means,
here's a hint, it does not mean "old".
For whatever reason I always found Windows 7 to be just...okay. Like it's not bad at all but in terms of user experience it was more interesting to use Vista or 8.
7 just "gets the job done", which I'm sure for most people is enough but for someone who actually likes using a PC for its nuance and quirks 7 just seemed to lack something.
If that’s true do you want to take this up with >>>/vr/? I think you’ll find it’s old not retro those are different concepts entirely
