All of Xenosaga's female characters (all of its characters in general really) are well written. None of them are stereotyped, the fact that game journos were calling Shion and KOS-MOS "feminist fails" because Shion cries and shows emotion was a prophet vision of what was to come.

MOMO, sure. KOS-MOS though I think has more nuance than people give her credit for, especially at the end. Much of her arc is obscured in the backstory. Juli is similarly interesting in a subtle but powerful way as well.

Shion's trauma was during her formative years where neurotic disorders are more likely to be deeply ingrained in behavioral patterns throughout the rest of one's life.
Ziggy and Jin were both adults when they experienced their traumas, and coped differently as a result. Ziggy shut down and fled from his humanity similarly to Shion, but had an open enough of a heart to attach himself to MOMO and Juli. Jin tried his best but lacked the stomach to be emotionally transparent. Shion just went batshit and spent most of her adult life in a disconnected trance interrupted by explosive tantrums.

I actually love Shion in Episode I. She comes off as a cute nerdy girl who's autistic about her creation. She has moments where she has attitude but even when she's being selfish, it comes off as caring a lot about KOS-MOS which makes it easier for the player to take her side because yeah I want the cute protagonist and the hot deuteragonist to stay in my party. In Episode 2 or 3 they got rid of her nerdy appeal and when she has attitude it's misdirected, like she throws tantrums at other party members. It feels like a completely different character and the character design change doesn't help. And I disagree with "Well it's realistic!" or "It's character development!" There are ways to tell Shion's story without being her a c**t.

Fair enough. I always though Alan was annoying so I'm biased. Honestly I think the series would've been better without him, he only does one useful thing in the entire series and it's when he gets Shion back at the end of the Ep3, which can easily be rewritten.

That's more thematic than anything. Her willingness to jump to suicide as a first option (while dismissing Allen's feelings) is foreshadowing for how her neurosis works. It's part of the theme of the game: she retreats from life at the expense of others to get what she desires. If she has to kill herself and everyone else, so be it.

Bamco owns Xenosaga. And considering they refused to do anything with the .hack IP while Sword Art Online was at its peak of popularity and CyberConnect2 was begging them to let them work on it, I doubt they give enough of a shit to bring Xenosaga back.

Her transformations give her magic caster, one of the best moves in the game. Also, build her solely for Ether and stick her into an agws with the biggest laser gun you can find. You've won the game.

It wasn't even really cut to 3 episodes because Episode 1 ended up unfinished and Episode 2 is just finishing what was originally going to be Episode 1, then Episode 3 was completely changed since they were ending the series there.
