Not happening. His son will take over, whose decision will be much worse than simply selling it to anyone.

I don't think gaben's the nepotistic type. He'll give it to someone who agrees with his sit around eating steak and doing nothing leadership.

These are worked on by 100s of developers that Valve pay for. Some poorgay NEET will never amount to the same productivity as a professional worker.

Well no, microsoft is legitimately convinced they're going to get the company.

You don't lose your games or anything. They'll still be there when you go to a different OS.

Anyone still on Windows 7 is moronic. By this point you should be on an upgraded Windows version or whatever flavor of Linux you want. No excuses.

Dude seriously just pick a side between win11/10 or linux. Google is ending support for your os. You think valve should rebuild their entire storefront on firefox just for you and the 3 other people on win7?

      >You think valve should rebuild their entire storefront on firefox just for you and the 3 other people on win7?
They should simply allow steam to run but block the store from running

            why

Because Valve is supposedly very selective and only hires super genius rockstar programmers. Said super genius rockstar programmers should be able to make a native client with ease.

well they did back in the day
at some point they decided to build it on top of chromium
i assume the benefits are worth dropping the 1% of users that probably don't even buy games anymore

If I've learnt anything from the past 10 years of political discourse, it's that the average person thinks the rest of society should pay for their every whim. Every single thing they do deserves the attention, money and respect of other people.

Too much to list. I'd recommend switching to a maintained fork with sane defaults, and most of the tracking shit removed.
LibreWolf and GNU IceCat are good starting points.
The former is directly available via winget, if you so desire.

            >GNU IceCat
I wish it was usable but it simply isn't right now. They stopped uploading binaries, but they still keep the source up. You just have to compile it yourself which takes a long ass time. I searched all around for someone maintaining a binary but nothing.

Developing for Windows is one thing, but developing on Windows is crap.

  18. 8 months ago

Blame Google, Chromium is the one that dropped 7 support and Steam has been using a custom version of CEF for a while now, probably to keep W7 compatibility for as long as they can.

      >Didn't gaben say he would remove the DRM before locking you out of access to your games?
Actually, no. He never did. Because people on Ganker have been saying this for over a decade, and every time I ask for any kind of source, it's the same screenshot of a private message from some absolute nobody in Steam Support. The idea that anyone with any authority at Valve ever officially promised anything of the sort is pure cope and always has been pure cope.
