You all just remember your mockery when Gaben dies, Steam is purchased by Microsoft and then they drop Linux support. The VERY LARGE windows 7 minority will remember your disloyalty and not shed any tears for you.

Steam isn't owned by Gaben alone.
>Steam is purchased by Microsoft
Not happening. His son will take over, whose decision will be much worse than simply selling it to anyone.
I don't think gaben's the nepotistic type. He'll give it to someone who agrees with his sit around eating steak and doing nothing leadership.
you should post that one on fanfiction.net
>VERY LARGE windows 7 minority
What year is it?
>and then they drop Linux support
?
wine, proton, dxvk, vkd3d etc are all open source and freely available
people will keep working on those regardless
>people will keep working on those regardless
These are worked on by 100s of developers that Valve pay for. Some poorgay NEET will never amount to the same productivity as a professional worker.
>disloyalty
Why would Linux users have any "loyalty" to Windows 7 users? Frick off.
>when the CEO of a private company dies, the competitor automatically takes over the business
Is this how it works in China or something?
Well no, microsoft is legitimately convinced they're going to get the company.
You know despite salivating and harassing Gabe's sons to give them the company when he dies.
You know, now, before their dad is even dead.
>harassing Gabe's sons
sounds hilarious, post source
I wonder if gabes sons are stupid enough to actually take that deal, gabe is probably already a multi millionaire and puny tf2 alone makes them enough money to buy a new rolls Royce every month.
Imagine not being part of the 1%. Literal plebs.
>Imagine not being part of the 1% literal plebs.
ftfy
btw i guarantee some homosexuals will maintain a chromium fork that still works with win7 for a few years
You don't lose your games or anything. They'll still be there when you go to a different OS.
Anyone still on Windows 7 is moronic. By this point you should be on an upgraded Windows version or whatever flavor of Linux you want. No excuses.
Dude seriously just pick a side between win11/10 or linux. Google is ending support for your os. You think valve should rebuild their entire storefront on firefox just for you and the 3 other people on win7?
>You think valve should rebuild their entire storefront on firefox just for you and the 3 other people on win7?
They should simply allow steam to run but block the store from running
the entire client is built on chromium
they should simply have not built it off of chromium then
why
Because Valve is supposedly very selective and only hires super genius rockstar programmers. Said super genius rockstar programmers should be able to make a native client with ease.
well they did back in the day
at some point they decided to build it on top of chromium
i assume the benefits are worth dropping the 1% of users that probably don't even buy games anymore
Well actually the Steam client used IE for the longest time.
> You think valve should rebuild their entire storefront on firefox just for you and the 3 other people on win7?
If I've learnt anything from the past 10 years of political discourse, it's that the average person thinks the rest of society should pay for their every whim. Every single thing they do deserves the attention, money and respect of other people.
>nasutard
>cumsoomer
every time
You satisfy your own definition of brainless consumer if you don't use an open source operating system. Fricking moron. I don't know why I even bothered to reply to you, you're just another mindless animal having a knee jerk reaction.
Firefox already threw you under the bus ages ago
Get a clue
What did they do?
Too much to list. I'd recommend switching to a maintained fork with sane defaults, and most of the tracking shit removed.
LibreWolf and GNU IceCat are good starting points.
The former is directly available via winget, if you so desire.
>GNU IceCat
I wish it was usable but it simply isn't right now. They stopped uploading binaries, but they still keep the source up. You just have to compile it yourself which takes a long ass time. I searched all around for someone maintaining a binary but nothing.
there's one on chaotic-aur
Damn, if only i used arch. I might use it in a distrobox. Thanks for letting me know
There's no Firefox/Gecko alternative to CEF-Electron. Mozilla tried ages ago with Positron but it didn't last long.
Microsoft is one of the largest Linux users around.
They know their own tech stack is crap.
In all seriousness: What dev would voluntarily develop on Windows?
Developing for Windows is one thing, but developing on Windows is crap.
w7 is even less relevant than loonix
>whole +0.21% increase
SuperOS by 2030, keep seething, cope and dilate.
It's actually the China bump that happens twice a year in steam stats for some reason.
where were you when steam dropped XP?
I can't wait. No more linux gaming threads.
Why do Linux gaming threads bother you? I mean, you can just, like, not read them. Are the Linux users cyber-bullying you? Just close your eyes lol
So why are you gays mad at Valve for ending support when it's an unsupported Microsoft product?
Blame Google, Chromium is the one that dropped 7 support and Steam has been using a custom version of CEF for a while now, probably to keep W7 compatibility for as long as they can.
Keep it up anon
I will simply pirate my games again and run them through Wine if that ever happens.
Always great to see Valve drones squirm their way around blaming Valve directly every time. They always worm around occam's razor by blaming some other company, no matter what the issue is with Steam itself.
So how come you're never upset at anyone else not supporting your dead OS?
Spare us please
> Very large
> 1.23%
1.23% of 130 million monthly is 1.6million
Didn't gaben say he would remove the DRM before locking you out of access to your games? Guess he doesn't put his money where his mouth is.
>Didn't gaben say he would remove the DRM before locking you out of access to your games?
Actually, no. He never did. Because people on Ganker have been saying this for over a decade, and every time I ask for any kind of source, it's the same screenshot of a private message from some absolute nobody in Steam Support. The idea that anyone with any authority at Valve ever officially promised anything of the sort is pure cope and always has been pure cope.
Gaben didn't say that, an employee did in the event steam itself shut down. Email him and ask.
move to ltsc or linux gays
