It was made by a dysfunctional Singaporean studio Ubisoft was obliged to keep running until they ship a game due to a contract with Singaporean government. No idea what "Singaporean studio" actually meant in this context, it isn't uncommon to just have head office there and actual employees somewhere else.

the same reason why slopfield was made poojets, because they are cheap and if they already are going to sell slop to gaymers they at least are going to save on production costs (if not outright steal from the company)

This game isn't realistic at all. It's super arcadey.
I just watched a steam earlier. It's the ship stuff from Assassins creed games(I only played odyssey), but there's no boarding fights. You just cruise around on your ship and shoot at homies until you press E to board, get a cutscene and win.
Looks absolutely soulless. As expected of ubisoft tbh.

It wishes. There is no leaving the ship the walk around. It's just closed multiplayer matches made out of Black Flag's ship combat and a huge microtransaction store attached to it.

There is some walking around. But that's only in player hubs to get missions and shit, probably to show off your character cosmetics.

        Anonymous

        >probably to show off your character cosmetics.
This is the sole reason for the hubs to exist. Everything else you do in town could just be in a menu. When you're actually playing the game you're either in first person on your ship or zoomed out so far that it doesn't matter what your character looks like. There's not even a log-in screen that shows your character. The entire existence of the custom character and hubs is solely to sell pirate costumes. At least you'll see ship cosmetics when playing.

Failed game. Better pirates exist and the fad is over, while streamers will never pick up a game that 2 people play on PC in what I can only describe as the most cursed fricking combination of Ubisoft's shitty PC history combined with needing both EGS and Uplay to actually run the shit. Live service FPS games exclusively exist to be streamer bait and be played by their followers.
Since it's a game nobody wants, and nobody that these games are aimed for will play it, it's just pissing money into a hole. It's amusing, though, because almost anyone could sit down at a table and tell their board that they are fricking moronic, yet companies keep releasing mega-budget games that nobody plays and then go under.

    >Sea of Thieves has an incredibly boring year and a half when Skull and Bones could have made an impact
    >Instead releases right when Sea of Thieves is having its best season in ages

    Smart.
