    why is everything wet

because they just HAVE to show off their fancy new gramphixs! make everything refection or glowing, artstyle and atmosphere be damned!

Same reason everything in 2010 looked wet. They haven't learned yet to dial it down.
Anyway, I think it looks good otherwise. Many of the other shots I've seen look great.
      Whatever.

for those graphics you need an RTX with DLSS3, dlss3 is exclusive to the 4000 series. impatient 2&3k cucks BTFO kek

I’m the biggest valve drone but man…. Rtx is snake oil and the deck is a piece of trash.

Gabe pls, this could’ve been done 10 years ago with real artist baking lights, stop hiring so many engineers

Valve barely hired any engineers. This work was done by nvidia mainly - It's via this https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/rtx-remix/ which means they just needed valve to hand over assets so they could import them into omniverse, and then someone went around applying new materials to everything.

      >this could’ve been done 10 years ago with real artist baking lights
      what a fucking midwit
      here's why:
      1. hammer and source used pre-baked lighting already and looked nothing like this
      2. rtx is just nvidia's brand of raytracing. there's nothing wrong with raytracing itself. raytracing is what video game lighting has been striving towards for decades, i.e. the most realistic simulation of light bounces instead of traditional rasterisation

that said rewatching the trailer, someone should do something about how flat the portals look, and maybe put back the animation of them opening up

Honestly I wasn't even a big fan of how they reworked the gun's particle effects for 2

they should rerelease that without console limitations, even on my ssd the constant load screens blow, and there's been an unfixed shader issue for like 5 years now

    >everything is fucking wet for no reason
    >absolutely DECIMATES the original tone and atmosphere of the game
    >dishonest, completely replaced and redone textures
    g-guys RTX isn't a meme! i p-promise.....

Eh, technically impressive but doesn't have the same abandoned atmosphere of the original. Everything looks too glossy and new.

Does this mean the source engine has RTX support now? Could we port this to other games?

Pretty much, RTX remix only works on games with DirectX 8-9 though
