In fairness using a potion would actually help here. If you drank a stamina boost potion or climbing speed potion, you could instead jump over the gap and latch onto the wall and climb to the other side.

        Change Weapon is cringe though.

get an axe instead of a sword to cut the tree? it's more effective than regular weapons

This. Use sound deliberately not according to arbitrary geometry. Lazy ass devs don't want to do the work of making art and deligate it to simulatory systems instead because normies will ooh and ahh at it anyway.

        Anonymous

The ""geometry"" isn't ""arbitrary"". The voxels correspond with in-game terrain/water etc. The game is all about everything being dynamic, that's deliberate.
        Are you moronic?

          Anonymous

And the placement of that geometry was chosen... arbitrarily with respect to sound.

1 of 3 things is true (all of them are gay)
1 the terrain was chosen according to how the player can move around it, thus arbitrary with respect to sound
2 the terrain was placed in order to reflect sound exactly how the developer wanted, thus being arbitrary with respect to how the player moves around it
3 some compromise between sound reflection and player movement
I like games that aren't hobbled by unnecessary compromises (you like eating shit)

                Anonymous

nta but could they not have made the terrain according to how the player can move around it, then use their silly invisible voxel shit to emulate that so the sound is appropriate according to the terrain the player actually sees and interacts with?
game still sucks and has a poorly designed world but i think anon was right, the voxels (probably) aren't exactly arbitrary

                Anonymous

If they actually did that yeah, that would basically be what I meant by "use sound deliberately".

          >dynamic dynamic dynamic
Shitting in a canvas and rolling it around is "dynamic", it uses real gravity, fluid dynamics and material absorbtion properties. I guess that's your perfect videogame.

You have no fricking clue what words mean. Go back to africa/mexico

You called static geometry that never changes dynamic why don't you take your own advice jose.

There was a game hydrophobia on the 360 that used such complex water physics that it was basically a tech demo. I only vaguely remember playing a demo, so idk if it was fun as a game, but probably not.

I'm kinda surprised they used the map to determine whether you can ascend or not, I was certain that would just be a few raycasts in the moment. Like you can ascend up through moving physics objects.

      Anonymous

well they still have to raycast to the block upwards. If they were *just* using map coordinates, you'd probably be able to do crazy stuff like ascend to the sky islands, but the raycast doesn't go that far
