‘Carrion’ makes you actually feel like a monster Like Alien if you were the Xenomorph.
There’s something therapeutic about Carrion that belies its B-movie subject matter. Despite your role as horrifying Meat Monster, a mass of teeth and tendrils terrorizing unfortunate researchers, this ‘reverse horror story’ doesn’t just revel in its violence. Sometimes, it lets you drop the schadenfreude for a moment, and find a simple joy in taking ownership of its labyrinthine map. Carrion is not a complicated game. It is a simple if satisfying Metroidvania, its puzzles broken up by brief sections of combat marked out by either gruesome eviscerations or tantalizing opportunities for stealth. The star of its show is the player character, the aforementioned Meat Monster. On the surface a deeply…

Hardware limitations are holding back Final Fantasy’s butt sliders Naoki Yoshida: "You all really like butts, don't you?"
The director of Final Fantasy XIV says hardware limitations are keeping characters’ bums smaller than their players want. In an interview with Gamespot, Naoki Yoshida explained the work that would have to go in to butt customization. The issue dates back to FF14’s Nier: Automata crossover, where a character outfit based on 2B had a larger behind than other characters, which caused clipping problems with certain animations. That model had its butt shrunk down, but community backlash caused Yoshida’s team to reverse its decision. Additional information about the 2B outfit in FFXIV, it fucking increases the size of your character's ass. The ‘PC Engine Mini’ is a schmup fan’s fantasy This slice of gaming history can finally be enjoyed without hitting eBay and selling a kidney.
There’s something funny about how the modern trend of re-releasing old consoles can reflect something of what those machines were. The NES and SNES Classic were slick, packed full of great games, and flew off the shelves. My favourite thing about the Mega Drive mini, on the other hand, was getting hold of a set of non-functioning accessories to clip onto it: a 32X, a Mega-CD, and a Sonic & Knuckles cart. The Neo Geo Mini? Expensive, desirable, filled with brilliant games I’d never heard of. The Capcom Home Arcade takes the form of the Capcom logo, an aesthetic decision I found bizarre until realising it echoed seeing those same six letters on…

15 completely awesome old school video game commercials Blast to the past.
Since the dawn of video games there have been video game commercials. These ads were singed to the outside of our tender little brains and put a rage in our bellies that caused a relentless verbal assault on our parents. We wanted these games. These commercials are as classic as the video games they are advertising. Let’s go back to a simpler time. Mike Tyson’s Punch Out Before his giant face tattoo and his hunger for human ear meat, Mike Tyson was one of the best boxers to ever walk the earth. This prompted Nintendo to give this insane bastard a direct window right into the minds of the youth.…

Gabe Newell reveals he was an undercover World of Warcraft gold farmer Just for research, you understand.
Gabe Newell got the idea for the Steam Workshop during his time working as a gold farmer in World of Warcraft. Speaking to Edge Magazine, Valve’s CEO said he managed to bring in a decent hourly wage – and worked out a concept that would help some people make significant amounts of money. “We were always used to thinking about games as entertainment experiences, but then we started thinking of them as productivity platforms,” says Newell. “As a sort of proof-of-concept, I decided to be a World of Warcraft gold farmer for a while. I was making $20 an hour farming gold. I was making what was a spectacular wage for…

Warcraft III: Reforged is yet more proof Blizzard’s not the company it once was User score: 0.5. Beyond the visual downgrades, visual glitches, stutters, crashes, missing features, and connectivity issues, Blizzard now has a total disconnect with its audience.
Blizzard used to be synonymous with addicting and highly polished games, and had Midas’ golden touch for anything to do with entertainment. Now it seems as if the company is almost intentionally trying to show us just how much they just don’t give a shit. The recent launch of Warcraft III: Reforged is just the latest demonstration of the fact. The only reason this controversy has blown up at all is because it’s a remaster of a cherished classic game that was made back when Blizzard still had people with a passion for video games. Media outlets like Newsweek – while acknowledging the sorry state of the game at launch…

Huge leak reveals Boogie2988 lied about swatting All of Boogie's lies and manipulation should be blamed on anonymous FBI friends, he now claims in damage control video.
Judging by his own Twitter feed – it reads like a constant stream of pityfishing and threats to leave social media and/or commit suicide – there is no shortage of drama surrounding online personality Steven Jay Williams, better known as Boogie2988. But as documented in a huge DM leak on the r/SamandTolki subreddit, the youtuber now admits to making false allegations of swatting as part of a scheme to get back at his “haters.” “Should I finally tell you guys the truth or should I keep milking this one. […] I was shocked to see they latched on to the swatting thing,” Boogie2988 told the “hater” recipient of his flood…
